I have to say,I lost a lot of respect for you when you brought up Power Rangers. Power Rangers is one of the best shows on television for racial representation. They still don't really have people with different accents very often but three of the red rangers have been black,we haven't really had a Southeast asian lead the team but we've had an Israeli Red Ranger and we've had an auxhillary red ranger who was asian. Everyone just looks at series 1 of Mighty Morphin,and it's very different now.
Honestly I Don't mind the "so called" stereotypes because these are all fictional characters. This video shouldn't be up saying these people and makers of these cartoons are racist these shows are meant to be comedic and relate-able. A lot of your examples aren't very convincing. A lot of these characters like the low rider from Cars and the Jamaican jellyfish are based on the voice actors who are hispanic and jamaican, respectively. And Siamese cats DO have slanted eyes. There are tons of old-school clips of Bugs Bunny in blackface that would've been better examples.
People don't just make up stereotypes. It is derived from how the majority of a particular ethnic group behaves. If you don't like it invest the time and effort to change the people. Pit bulls are known to attack people. A negative stereotype. Should we ignore the stereotype and try to pet one we meet on the street? I am a biker. Bikers have negative stereotypes associated with them. It doesn't offend me. I understand the reasoning behind it. I don't sit back and whine about it.

Disney changed that ear line because they realised it was insulting. However, they couldn't change it in the soundtrack cause that was already pressed. The problem is people believing that the mass media are portraying an image that is even in the slightest bit accurate. If you go out and meet people from different cultures you will learn what they are like. If you get all your information on culture from what mass media feeds to you, then you've been screwed for a while my friend.

personally I think your over exaggerating with the exception of any animated Disney movie. Disney's animated movies are extremely racist. Its why they don't have any black people or the black people are animals. Like in Lion King, Princess and the Frog ( was the frog for the majority of the movie). Mulan (Dragon), Little Mermaid(Sebastien), Dumbo (Crows). The only Disney movies to have a human black character was Atlantis Doctor Joshua Strongbear Sweet who was killed.
@kingben821 Yeah, when those people are not allowed to portray themselves, but instead are being portrayed by someone of another race/ethnicity, it does have racist overtones to it. When many non-white people are potrayed it's usually in a negative or comical light. We're either seen as threatening or as some sort of comical relief for majority white audiences. That's why it's racist.

Considering the historical context of some of these clips, I think the greater lesson is that we have more diverse portrayals of cultures and individuals rather than perpetuating old stereotypes. The Happy Feet reference as well as a long list of recent movies is evidence that much of hollywood needs to have diversity training. I could go on but there are only so many characters I can include in a post.

They still don't really have people with different accents very often but three of the red rangers have been black,we haven't really had a Southeast asian lead the team but we've had an Israeli Red Ranger and we've had an auxhillary red ranger who was asian. Everyone just looks at series 1 of Mighty Morphin,and it's very different now.

A lot of your examples aren't very convincing. A lot of these characters like the low rider from Cars and the Jamaican jellyfish are based on the voice actors who are hispanic and jamaican, respectively. And Siamese cats DO have slanted eyes. There are tons of old-school clips of Bugs Bunny in blackface that would've been better examples.

Pit bulls are known to attack people. A negative stereotype. Should we ignore the stereotype and try to pet one we meet on the street? I am a biker. How else are we to know that some of these characters are ethnic if they don't portray their ethnic traits? Not all of these are negative.... Racial stereotypes are only offensive is an entire race is judged off of a portion of that race, such as the false stereotypes of assuming that all Mexicans are illegal immigrants, or that all blacks are gangsters, or that all Americans are hicks. The problem is people believing that the mass media are portraying an image that is even in the slightest bit accurate. If you go out and meet people from different cultures you will learn what they are like. personally I think your over exaggerating with the exception of any animated Disney movie. Disney's animated movies are extremely racist. Its why they don't have any black people or the black people are animals. Like in Lion King, Princess and the Frog ( was the frog for the majority of the movie). @kingben821 Yeah, when those people are not allowed to portray themselves, but instead are being portrayed by someone of another race/ethnicity, it does have racist overtones to it. When many non-white people are potrayed it's usually in a negative or comical light. We're either seen as threatening or as some sort of comical relief for majority white audiences. That's why it's racist.

Considering the historical context of some of these clips, I think the greater lesson is that we have more diverse portrayals of cultures and individuals rather than perpetuating old stereotypes. The Happy Feet reference as well as a long list of recent movies is evidence that much of hollywood needs to have diversity training. I could go on but there are only so many characters I can include in a post.

What do you expect the media to put to differentiate between race (make them all look the same??) of course diffrerent races have different facial features etc. that what makes it all interesting than a oh so boring one race show. We're all the same here just that we came from different cultures and stuff. It's to show one's culture and have children learn about that culture more in America, so when they grow up they won't discriminate. So i think this video is overall stupid and useless. :))

wow, so racist, i have learned a lot, i will now go out and say that people named nathaniel are suffering racist steriotyping for being named such a "White guy" name, or that black people named "La'sheniqua" are suffering from racist steriotypes because theyre name is "Black" or "ghetto" when really the one who accuse of racism are the racists themselves normally, especially due to the fact they know whats racist and think that black people are poor victims and white people are masters.

This video sure taught me a lot! Like if you're paranoid enough, you can find racism in almost everything! I guess you'd perfer they draw all the cartoon characters the same, oh but then you'd be whining that it's racist because they don't include people of different colors. Yet as you've made clear in this video, if they do include theme, then people like yourself will nitpick them for any stereotyping behavior. Guess you can't win!

why cant you say that the red power ranger is a stereotypical jock. Or that the blue one is a white nerd. Or that texans are always big and slow (xiaolin showdown). And what is stereotypical about gerald in hey arnold? he is black and kind, intelligent, with a loving family and good friends. Basically if a person of color is portrayed in any role it can fit some stereotype. And Aladdin is based on the 1001 Arabian nights, written years ago, and it is a vicious land then and now.
