@vampxblade the difference lies in the instrumental..... prog metal pays more attention to the instrumental part, even during the verse and chorus, you can find distinctive riffs, while in power metal, the instrumental is focused more on bringing out the voice..... plus, you can usually sight gothic influences in power metal and plenty of myths and legends that influence both the music and the lyrics.....
