The crazy shit is, people generally aren't very fond of All Shook Down, just 'cause it's more of Paul's solo stuff and with a slick pop production. But if any other artist would've released those songs, people would be in absolute awe. It's just got a lot of shit because people compared it to Let It Be.
is this video a Replacement for acid? okay I hear the boooos I'm sorry. I'm not a comedian forgive me but I dig the Replacements! yes I hear the hoorays in my mind but I guess I'm lame after all.... Cheers...... Booooos????
@jsizer35 Chris Mars had left the band by then (I'm not sure if he actually recorded any songs at all on that album). The drummer for the tour was that guy in the video, Steve Foley.
Great song, but definitely a sign that Westerberg was already thinking about his solo career. Does anybody know if the two claymation figures at 1:05 are supposed to be Bob Stinson and Chris Mars? If so, I love the way they look at each other like, "What the hell is this?" If there ever were a Mats' reunion, it would have to be Paul, Tommy, Slim, and a new drummer (Josh Frees ?). Sadly Bob and Steve Foley (the drummer for like the last six months of the Mats' existence) are no longer with us.
LOVE!!!!! Man, they just don't write music like this anymore! Few can match the writing style of Paul. Thanks SO much for this video...been a long time, but the memories are flooding back. =]
This has always been one of my favorite bands. I always thought Pleased to Meet Me was a masterpiece and the their other albums were a close 2nd.

@atomicinjun You must have not heard Let It Be or Tim, then. Pleased to Meet Me is great, but it doesn't touch those two.

One of my favorite albums...even though it was really a Westerberg solo album...or almost. If that's what it is, so be it.

...and I guess Chris Mars has pretty much given up drumming to focus on his art. He is an amazing painter.

All Shook Down was originally intended to be Westerberg's first solo record. Sire/Warner Bros. insisted he put "The Replacements" on the cover.
