Heb 10:26 speaks of being under the law after having the knowledge of the truth of Christ who sanctified them. Remember we are set free from the law Rom 8:2 and the law is not made for the righteous (i.e Christians) but for sinners 1Tim 1:9.
Only in Christ are we righteous. But if you judge your righteousness by trying to keep the law this is unbelief (John 16:9) and such have trodden under foot the Son of God (Heb 10:29). Remember those born of God cannot sin 1John3:9.
2) If we vainly try anyway(without first denying self), then we will find ourselves carrying a cross that is to heavy and will not follow Him, because the road of following Jesus goeas opposite our flesh- certainly the sinful things and many times when we are honest about what Jesus is calling us too things that are not inherently sinful as well
this verse i hebrews is for people who know that JESUS is the only way the truth an life and they still reject him and try to be saved tru sacrifices of animals.
YOU ALL FORGET THAT GOD ISN'T EXPECTATION!!! THE BIBLE SAYS NOWHERE IF YOU SIN WILLFULLY % TIMES YOU ARE NOT FORGIVEN! NO IT DOESNT'T WHAT ITS TALKING ABOUT IN THIS VERSE THAT IF SOMEONE DIES SINNING WILLFULLY THEY HAVE NO HOPE FOR ETERNAL LIFE!!!! FAMILY IN CHRIST WE MUST REPENT OUR SINS TAKE UP OUR CROSS AND FOLLOW CHRIST!
@jangel2771 Don't forget deny yourself, then pick up your cross and follow Him; we willl find that if we are not willing to first deny ourselves then 1) we are not approved of by Jesus to be His disciples and
THE WHOLE BOOK OF HEBREWS HAS ONE THEME...TRUST IN THE FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS FOR SALVATION OR YOU WILL BE JUDGED & FOUND NAKED STANDING IN THE LAW OF MOSES THAT YOU CAN NOT FOLLOW...
@BibleStudyTime The Word says vs Hebrews10:29 ..... and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he WAS sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
I believe the message of Heb.10:26 is for the believer. We are the ones judged first before the world. 1 Peter 4:17 Go further into Heb. 10:30 to get the rest of the story. "For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge [his] people." Judging the willfull sin of the believer has nothing to do with our eternal security. It is a matter of a just recompense of reward.
@Terry8150 It is my understanding that Christ paid for ALL our sins and that we have been passed from judgment because of His great sacrifice. What will be judged for the believer at the Bema Seat of Christ is his or her works and not sin.
If our sins (Past, present & future) are not paid for then we are not saved but and if we are forgiven Christ already paid the penalty and therefore there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ. That really is the good news :) Sin has no claim on us.
@bibledoctrine Christ paid for all our sins. 100% Wiilfull sin by the believer is works that will be judged. Paul said we all must appear before the judgment seat of Christ to "receive the things done in the body, [according] to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." 2Cor.5:10 The word "bad" means wicked, worhtless. Have to separate what is true about the gospel from what is true about our walk that will be judged.
@Terry8150 It is not possible we will be judged for any sin because Christ paid for every one of them in FULL and if there was one sin unpaid for then we would not stand before the Bema Seat we would stand at the White Throne Judgment.
Hebrews 10:26 is talking about sin that will not be forgiven because one has rejected Christ and there is no other provision from God made for sin and its forgiveness. This should not be difficult to understand. The rewards or loss of such is based on our service
@bibledoctrine Paul wrote, "For if [we] sin willfully.." He's talking about those who "have received the knowledge of the truth." Only believers receive the knowledge of the truth. Where in this text is there separation from what is being said in Heb.10:26 through Heb. 10:31. The context is that God will "judge his people. vs 30 And that "it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." vs31 ?
@Terry8150 I am sorry Terry but that is incorrect. It is a simple question we must all ask and know the answer to - are we totally forgiven or not? Is there one sin that we have or ever will commit that Christ did not pay for? God will judge those who have rejected Christ because there remains no other provision for the forgiveness of sin. That is all this verse is teaching. There is no condemnation to those in Christ, do you agree? Yes or no?
@bibledoctrine Disagree with your application of this text in Heb.10.You have to pay attention to the inclusion Paul even make of himself in the use of the word "we" in verse 26.Christ died for our sins, in order for us to go to heaven and not hell. The answer for the believers who "sin that grace may abound" is the judgment seat of Christ. We will be judge so that we won't be condemned with the world. That doesn't mean just a slap on the wrist for a believers unfaithfulness in their walk.
@Terry8150 The inclusion Terry is his having been Jewish and not because he is writing to members of the BOC. You cite Heb 10:30 in one of your responses. Do you really believe that God will take vengeance on those saved who will stand at the Bema Seat? Vengeance does not speak of correction but punishment.
God will display his vengeance against those who have trodden under foot the Son of God and these are not saved people but ones who have rejected Christ see II Thes. 1:8,9.
@bibledoctrine Paul is writing to Jewish believers who are part of the body of Christ. Paul loved the church at Jerusalem. Paul ministered in Jerusalem "to the saints." Romans 15:25. The fact they were Jewish doesn't exclude them from the one body of Christ. I believe what Hebrews 10:30-31 says because it is written about the Lord judging "his people." It's talking about those who were sanctified by the blood of Christ, and who in their walk have done despite unto the Spirit of grace.
@bibledoctrine I believe what Heb10:29 implies.Paul used the word "punishment" for believers who "trodden under foot the Son of God and counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done [despite unto] the Spirit of grace.Paul said the believer can grieve and quench the Holy Spirit. How is it that some won't accept that the believer can do "despite unto" the Spirit and reap the result? The principle of punishment for a servant is established by Jesus.
@bibledoctrine Postionally in Christ, there is no condemnation. But, the issue is our walk which will be judged.Paul moves the believer from being in Christ to one who is to be led by the Spirit. And through the Spirit we are to mortify the deeds of the body. We don't mortify, we don't get to be joint heirs with Christ. Rom.8:17 That's predicated by that word "if." Sin in the believers life will affect our right to be a joint heir of Christ. Paul warned Timothy of this same thing.2Tim.2:12
@Terry8150 I agree the issue is our walk and our service for Him. Sin is not in the equation here to be judged for indeed God has already judged our sin in Christ on the cross. What will be judged is how we built upon the foundation that the Apostle Paul laid. If we build correctly we receive a reward if we do not then we will suffer loss. The wages (rewards, payment) for sin is death and Christ paid the debt in full. There is no double jeopardy here at the Bema Seat.
@bibledoctrine Paul says some works will be judged "bad." That word means wicked, worthless. What makes these kind of works wicked? Sin. It will be because of sin that a believer "suffers loss." Loss at the judgment seat is an in house judgement. That loss will be because of unfaithfulness or disobedience to the Lord and his word. That is sin. The result is not a double jeopardy judgment on sin. But it will be because of sin that a believer will "suffer."
@Terry8150 The loss of one's right to reign with Christ is not because of sin but because some are not willing to suffer with Him and deny Him their service (II Tim 2:12). This has to do with our service or rather the lack thereof. Some will deny Him and will not be willing to suffer for Him. I believe you are confusing service & rewards with Sin and judgment. Look either Christ paid for our sins or He did not , in my mind it is that simple.
@bibledoctrine Paul wrote believers, "let [us] lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us.." Heb.12:1 What hinders the believer from running the race.."? Sin. What will destroy reward, crowns, and inheritance? Sin. There's no confusion to what Paul wrote is possible for the believer to go through who willfully sins [after] receiving the knowledge of the truth. Paul said that believer has a "certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation. Heb.10:27
@Terry8150 If this is a matter of a just recompense of rewards as you say then why does Paul say "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,"
How do you equate that with rewards? Our sacrifice for sins is Christ is He not? If we sin willfully does that mean Christ is no longer our sacrifice for sins? Think about this please.
If one rejects Christ and the Blood of the New Covenant there is no other sacrifice for sin.
@bibledoctrine Christ died once for our sins. He's not going to do that again.Paul made reference to this point in Heb.6:6 in that some believers "crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." In that context, Paul is speaking about reward saying that "God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye showed toward his name." Heb.6:10 When you get to chpt.10,Paul lets those believers who put him to an open shame know what could happen, vs26-31

Loving your videos but I must say, the letters & text flipping around makes it harder to read, at least for us "older folks." :)
