The last of the Superman cartoons produced by the actual Fleischer studios, Terror on the Midway opens as reporter Clark Kent drops his friendly rival Lois Lane off at the circus. On assignment, Lois heads into the big top, ready to enjoy her work and relax. Unfortunately, a mischievous monkey has managed to unlock the cage that holds a ferocious gorilla.
Actually, this the last cartoon ever made by Fleischer Studios. The frist cartoon from Famous Studios, "You're a Sap, Mr. Jap," was released three weeks earlier.
@brayrobin This episode scared me as a kid! This is just what I literally hate about circuses. Rampaging animals causing disaster, especially fires, lions, gorillas, elephants, everything. This episode was released in 1942 the year after DUMBO was released in 1941. It's twice as frightening as Mrs. Jumbo's rampage scene.
This is probably taken from a DVD of the Fleischer Superman cartoons manufactured by the East West DVD company. I have a DVD of the Famous Studios Superman cartoons also made by East West. The company most likely added those extra sound effects just before the DVD's were put on store shelves
This episode scared me as a kid after watching it a few times! If there's one thing scary and intensely frightening about going to a circus, it's rampaging animals on the loose causing chaos and panic in the crowds. People running out of the seats through crowds of others desperately for exits without ever knowing that an animal will run into their paths. Even when the terror begins! The rampaging gorilla and elephant, the fire, everything. IT'S SO FRIGHTENING!

@ceitiosaurus A lot of video houses that package cartoons that are in the public domain like to put their own sound fx on the originals.
