As for my plan, I support liberal democracy as a political system. It isn't perfect, but it's the best we've got right now. Those problems will have to be solved by a combination of political and private efforts, so getting people themselves more concerned about them is crucial. I think the church has a role to play here, even though it often does not live up to anything like its potential.

I dont consider myself a religious person, Chapman said. My grandfather was a minister. I actually didnt know him; he died before I was born. My parents sent my sister and me to Sunday school at a Baptist church but we werent really forced to go beyond our early years. And then I went to an Episcopalian high school. I find religion interesting. I dont belong to any particular religious domination. But they deal with the Big Questions, like you say, so its of interest to me.

You don't seem to understand that your "But they weren't *true* communists" works both ways--I can just as easily say that "Christians" who have done bad things aren't really Christians, or that democrats who have done bad things aren't really democrats, or whatever. In practice, attempts at instituting communism on large scale have led time and again to horrific atrocities.

We live in a society that is unequal, there are wars, disoccupation, people starving to death, racism, slavery. THESE ARE THE REAL PROBLEMS! And the only answer is marxism. Lenin himself killed more innocent people than the Church ever has, so I'm not sure your examples really work in your favor. I agree that those are terrible problems; communism will not fix them. What are you doing to fix them, other than posting insulting comments on youtube? And again, if you're allowed to say that China, the USSR, the Khmer Rouge, etc weren't "true" communisms, I can say that the times when the church was mingled with oppressive political power it wasn't the true Church.

As for my plan, I support liberal democracy as a political system. It isn't perfect, but it's the best we've got right now. Those problems will have to be solved by a combination of political and private efforts, so getting people themselves more concerned about them is crucial. I think the church has a role to play here, even though it often does not live up to anything like its potential.

Lenin didn't kill anybody? Go to wikipedia, and read about Lenin's Hanging Order, the Red Terror, the Cheka, and the Decossackization, and then get back to me. He killed millions of innocent people. He was a monster. And the church, in its 2000 years, has done far more good than Marxism ever has or will. The very fact that we take these issues as being of utmost importance is because of the church's impact on Western society--the Romans had no problem with war, inequality, slavery, etc.

No. Liberal democracy has its problems, but it has been improving, steadily, over time--and in any event, it's worked a hell of a lot better than And you can't just arbitrarily claim that the many, incredibly well-documented accounts of Leninist atrocities are "propaganda" without providing some reason for doubting them. Am I allowed to claim, without support, that the church's supposed atrocities are lies? You have notes written by Lenin himself ordering civilian executions.

If it wasn't the "white" man, it would have been (and was) the other super powers of the world at that time.
