DHS is nothing new, it's simply a re-collecting of LEOs and SAR foces. Let's review, USCG (been here since 1790 and still has the same basic mission), CBP (a merge of the Customs Service and Border Patrol which have been here since 1789 and 1924), ICE (been here since 1870), and then the Secret Service (established as an anti-counterfitting role in 1865, now the president's official body guards).

So what's your problem?

well I work in a position with TSA and I know myself and my partners take great pride in what we do. I think its great that everyone has opinions on the matter, as they should. Regardless of what people feel about DHS, Im going to do everything in my power to keep them and their family safe. All you ever see on the news is the "mess-ups" or mistakes from DHS. I think its great to have a show about some of the victories made by the hard working men and women of DHS. Keep up the good work.

Customs, Border patrol, ICE, Coast Guard, & Secret Service ARE the agencies within the DHS (Deparment Of Homeland Security). The DHS didn't add any new agency besides ICE (which use to be the INS). The DHS is just a cabinet, not really much different from the DOJ.

The DHS runs a total of 22 different agencies, but I listed all of those that perform actual law enforcement functions, the largest of which is CBP (Customs and Border Protection).

Don't tell me what the DHS is like until you've worked for it. I've been with the U.S. Coast Guard for two years now, don't call me a traitor. I doubt you've served.

What do you mean by "National Police Force"? That would be impossible. Every state has its own laws and penal codes, and only local & state cops can enforce those laws. Federal Law Enforcement can only enforce federals laws (statutes). For example, an ICE agent couldn't arrest me for murder, rape, or robbery, because those are all state crimes.

Unless you're out committing federal crimes, you don't have much to worry about the federal government, be it the DHS or DOJ.
