  • Yea nice heavy duty commercial gear.

  • Yeah I know all I'm saying is that this would be a nice PA set up for out doors

  • where can i buy one or two ????

  • wow thats a huge amount of power!!! disco speakers arent even 1000w continue O.o!!! is the sound quality good? where for were these used??

  • Awesome, whats the name of the track being played?

  • @togethia

The song is called La Bamba and is played by The Golden Nightingale Orchestra.

  • Woodstock Time

  • @Jazzbass2664 No, woodstock was 69.

  • That's an incredibly large system :D Great sound and it looks soo pretty. Although doesn't that constant fuzz noise (I'm assuming its the cooling system?) a bit of a distraction?

  • @Nanovirus5995 You are looking at PA equipment, built by Philips in the 50s. It was never meant for private use.

  • this old stuff can deliver 2000 watts?? 2x1000?? 1x 2000? RMS?

  • @Frietpan

    2x 1000 watt continu

  • @MrOrf2 input power ? 4kW ? or much ?

  • fine piece of art

  • new music man

  • Sounds like intermission at an old British movie theatre.

  • Great amplifier. Nice to see the output stage transformer immersed in oil. What's the frequency response?. Philips made very fine valve radios and amplifiers. Very nice electronics to repair and maintain. Must take care of the lamps, especially the output stage and the rectifiers. Great stuff =o)

  • Fantastic amplifiers.

Great visual display and heating at the same time.

    Just awesome units.

  • my question is---- if they run on 3 phase power where do you hide your converter?

  • @theTrainmanmec

In our country you can get 380 volts from the electrical power supply. This can also be used in fabrics witch use heavy machinery.

  • @MrOrf2 Lol yeah, I've got 3 phase in my flat. :)

  • @MrOrf2 Het is nu 400 omdat het naar 230 is gegaan. :)

  • Did you replace the valve mercury rectifiers with silicon?. or was it from the factory like this?.That is very neatly done.

If I got one, I would replace the mercury vapour valves in the same way. They dont last long, I know, I used to maintain this kind of equipment in the 1960s. Not Philips ones though. The ones I worked on used MZ2-200 valves as output stage.GU50 rectifiers.

  • @23565120

The replace of the mercury rectifiers was an modification in 1964 by Philips.

  • Deze versterkers dit is geen huis tuin en keuken spul dit is te gewelddadig gewoon en ik wil het hebben haha geweldig

Waarvoor werden deze voornamelijk gebruikt ?

    MVG Romano

  • this has got to to the most buetifull amp i ever did see

there is pure energy there. this is those type of devices that

was built more then just for music (art)

  • Dit is echt een geweldige set ! gehoord bij de demo

lekker genieten was dat zeker voor herhaling vatbaar

  • what is the song called??

  • @August8800

The song is called La Bamba and is played by The Golden Nighyingale Orchestra.

  • for what was they used for ? Is it like an Vintage PA Amp. Im a PA Fan and i ever asked me how they did concerts in the past. how much does that thing cost?

I have a little Grundig Tubeamp from the Sixtys with 4x EL84. He play but i think something is wrong with the current for the tube heating.

  • @Pitchplus8

They were used voor PA and for concerts in big stadiums.

  • AWESOME!! I expect you have done a lovely restauration, they look incredible!!

You do not need your conventional room heaters annymore, don´t you ;))

May you ad some measurement info, would be *very* nice.

Anyway, impressive amps!! Thanx for this video!!!

  • @bobyoung53

The fans are original. The amplifiers were build in 1955 by Philips in The Netherlands. They weigh 150 kilo each. The work on 380 volts. The are very rare. It was a complete surprise when I saw them for sale on the internet.

  • @MrOrf2 I heard tubes should be great at ham radio devices, is that true and why or why not?

    greetz

    73

  • @BruceCarbon

The tubes are also used in transmitters. I don't know why.

  • @MrOrf2

The same reason because they are used in this amp .. they got power ;). They are good to get at least the legal limit .. or to use them as a driver stage for a more manly amplifier.

  • All I have to say is that those are fantastic amplifiers. I love staring at the mercury tube rectifiers. If I were interesting in finding an old amp such as this to restore, where would be a good place to look? In my ECE classes they teach us about modern amplifier and circuit designs but I also want to learn about past electrical designs as well and hopefully would be able to restore something like this in the future.
