Where's the weapons? In an environment where the settlers expect to encounter dangerous predators (as Heinlein described the world in his novel), adults and responsible adolescents would go about with sidearms - pistols - at the very least.

Hell, "gun control" is a temporary aberrancy. Mankind in the future can't be counted upon to continue the politically correct stupidities of today.

1) Obviously some of the miners have firearms. 2) Controlling access to weapons is hardly historically aberrant and has been attempted by states for centuries, and 3) thanks for making those of us who have a mature understanding of the concept of civilian firearm ownership look like ranty, angry douchebags instead.
