We all talk about how the Russians were the black stain on the Allies, the one thing that stops the war from truly being good v evil.
However, what about the individual Red Army trooper? Did he do the right thing? Remember, Leaders like Roosevelt, Stalin, Churchill, and Hitler might be the ones who start, command, lead, and end wars, but they are still fought be ordinary men.
Did those ordinary Russians do the right thing? I want your input.

My father was incarcerated in a German camp and when they heard that troops have landed in Normandy they started dancing. The SS guards did not like that and put a gun on his head. He didn't tell me the details, but he said that they were greateful to all these men who landed. My father passed away, but our family will never forget. I hope that one of these men reads this. Thank you all and god bless you.
For a long time, I have pondered this simple question:
Did we do the right thing?
I think I have an answer, at least for myself.
For all the wrongs performed by the United Allied Nations and despite the tyrannical nature of the Soviet Union....... the Democracies of the world chose the most moral of the options that were presented to them.
I think we did the right thing. Stalin, no..... But in the end, I think the US and the UK did the right thing. At least the most moral option.
Not really dude, they won the war because of them having so many allies.
They even had help from Germans that didn`t belive in the Nazis and they were right to.
Plus they kinda pushed Germany into World War Two by taking land and things they love after World War One, so when they say "I didn`t think Germany would start this war afetr losing WW1" then they don`t know there own actions.Sure it IS the Germans fault for "starting" the war but its not ONLY there fault.
BTW Germany was the strongest ONE country. If it wasn`t for the stupid actions of attacking Russain land at that time then they would have won. If America didn`t join until after Russia was beaten there is no doubt that no matter how many nukes they launch there lighting war would wipe them out.

@drakebudasz The Axis Alliance(Not just Germany) could have defeated Russia, But they cared more for Stalingrad than the lifeline of the Soviet Union-Oil fields to the south! Also Hitlers downfall went back to 1940, When the Luftwaffe was defeated in the Battle of Britain. Hitler,Goering,Mussolini cost the Axis the war. And China,Vientnam defeated U.S and the Americans didnt invade Iraq,Afghan,etc ALONE they invaded with Britain,Commonwealth,France,Germany,United nations,etc

When the U.S arrived the Axis Armies had been wiped out and most of there reserves, They were fighting Kids,Old men,Forced concripts. @TheYamR6Sp 1) You're a moron for comparing Water and Land war fare. They are completely different. Different training, different strategy, different dangers. 2) have you done any research on Easy? If you had, you would know that a lot of America's success is due to Easy's accomplishments. 3) Surviving U-boats were surrendered to Allie forces.. so they were unsuccessful.
@TheYamR6Sp I would also like to point out that U-boat victories were not as monumental or pivotal as Easy Company's victories. There are others such as 82nd Airborne, and 327th glider infantry regiment, to name a couple, that were also great. You may have your reasons for thinking the U-boat crews are more heroic, but the 101st are Heroes as well. Regardless, no need to be so disrespectful to the men that sacrificed what they did, American or German.

Morality often works on a scale beyond the immediately comprehension of an individual, a politician, or even a nation as a whole. Oftentimes, it is only immediately obvious to History and God.

Russia's army was big, sure, but not well trained or well supplied. It was mostly built of common people like farmers and so on. Why do you think so many Russians died? America played a major part in world war two, but so did Russia and Britain. No one could have done it by themselves.

I had seven uncles in WW2. All returned, by the grace of GOD. Thank you Jesus. Two were wounded. All saw action. Uncle Paul was blown out of tank. His friends were killed. Uncle Alvin saw the most action. He was already in the Army when Dec. 7th 1941. Went thru D-Day to Malhousen. Trapped at Bastonge. Uncle Jr. was with Audry Murphy. Wounded, but continued. The rest did their work .

The soldiers entered the war preparing to fight a conflict. They left having decided history.

And to the Men and Women currently serving in Iraq and Afgahnistan... When the U.S arrived the Axis Armies had been wiped out and most of there reserves, They were fighting Kids,Old men,Forced concripts. Thos men where not heroes, anyone could do what they dit, thats why they are called Easy compagny, they fought the German troops when they where in reatread, not when they where attackin, outherwise they would all been killed. The greatest heroes of WW2 are no doubt the German u-boat crews, with only about 40.000 man, they sunk more than 15.000.000 tons of allied ships, under dangerous and cloustrofobic conditions. no greater heroes can be found i think, may they all live happy in Walhalla!

@TheYamR6Sp I would also like to point out that U-boat victories were not as monumental or pivotal as Easy Company's victories. There are others such as 82nd Airborne, and 327th glider infantry regiment, to name a couple, that were also great. You may have your reasons for thinking the U-boat crews are more heroic, but the 101st are Heroes as well. Regardless, no need to be so disrespectful to the men that sacrificed what they did, American or German.

That desire was in all soldiers fighting on the allied side in those days and in the hearts of the population in the occupied countries. Therefore it's futile to claim one country won it. @radiantrey WHY ARE YOU YELLING!!!! Truth is that the only reason Russia was able to put any type of offensive strike towards Germany is becuase the fact that they're was a Western Front. Russia's army was big, sure, but not well trained or well supplied. It was mostly built of common people like farmers and so on. Why do you think so many Russians died? America played a major part in world war two, but so did Russia and Britain. No one could have done it by themselves.

I had seven uncles in WW2. All returned, by the grace of GOD. Thank you Jesus. Two were wounded. All saw action. Uncle Paul was blown out of tank. His friends were killed. Uncle Alvin saw the most action. He was already in the Army when Dec. 7th 1941. Went thru D-Day to Malhousen. Trapped at Bastonge. Uncle Jr. was with Audry Murphy. Wounded, but continued. The rest did their work .

what happend to the era where people fought for freedom and for the best of mankind...today we fight for money and stupid arguments. Am sure the soldiers from worl war 2 wanted a world with peace.

critcize what i say but i dont hate the people that fought against us in WWII. they were fighting for what they beleived in. my grandpa fought in WWII as an infantryman and and he doesnt hate them either. he realizes that they were doing the same thing he was. fighting for what they beleived in. so before you say you hate them and there stupid think about it for a second.

World War 2 was a horrible war. Let there be no doubt. All war is horrible. The bombs, the shelling, the deaths....
But as the man points out, behind this shell, there can be a greater cause. Laying beneath the cratered surface of death was a fight between tyranny and freedom. The fight between genocide and tolerance.
The soldiers entered the war preparing to fight a conflict. They left having decided history.

And to the Men and Women currently serving in Iraq and Afgahnistan... Us back home are really Proud in what you do... and for why you do it, hopefully we will have no more Casulties for our side, only the FUCKING terrorists that started this mess.... in the end they're only hurting themself... many soldies have died, their mothers fathers, family have been devistated....there is no happyness in war, only sorrow and saddness. Who knows, your son or daughter might go to war and never come back RIP

In life, there is no Batman, or Superman.... but we have our own kind of hero that mothers and fathers brought up.... The soldiers of each and every war fought and to be fought! No matter who they fight for they all wanted to go home, it was just orders..... Everybody... was fighting for the same thing, freedom. Nobody wanted to see the harshness of what war can bring..... seas turned blood red, mates killed while u watch. They made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, for us. R.I.P
