Well was one of the best maps! It had so much strategy to learn, so many obstacles! I loved the slime pits in the rear bases, because it was tought to capture the flag without dying. Sneaking past a whole team, to capture and return that flag... PURE VICTORY! TF classic is one of the best!!!

Ugh... TFC sucks compared to TF2, its so hard to navigate through the map with lack of static props and all maps seem to use the same brush texture in all parts of the map (especially dustbowl)

I can't wallstrafe but wow seeing that sniper deck and red dot... best thing with being a sniper in TFC - just sit there if you're too lazy to run across the large map. Bit surprised by the random train in TF2. The flag room in TF2 also reminded me of the TFC map with the waterfalls - it was *that* open. Pity no concing allowed anymore... the def would have a hard time keeping out the off!

The old well was SO much better, it was one of the best maps I've ever played. The new one is, of course, a pyro-fest, where snipers are again useless.

You could climb on the roof, shoot from the windows... You could run across or bomb jump quickly... You could hide in the middle, blow up the grate and go through... The capture point was COOL and the top area with the hole was useful.

I almost cried when I saw the insulting remake.

I think many of the reasons you stated were the reasons to why they changed Well.

TF2 was changed a lot for balance reasons.

I noticed your double post on Badlands. I won't comment there because I do not know why they changed it so much. Well at least has some preserved aspects.

I found that it was really balanced, especially when the other teams snipers sucked. Heavies were a bit useless, due to the fact they were the slowest class and had no alternate form of transportation. Medics were useless in pug battles but worked well in clan wars. Pyros were harder, since it was more open.

Other than that, I felt it worked fine.

I think I ran out of music from the game that I felt like using. My 2Fort clip (and my Race for the Pennant achievement video) had TF2 music. I think I wanted a short, fast paced track for this one and this came into my mind.

This map was never really supported in CTF form on TF2 servers. TFC ctf_well always had a dedicated server and a bunch of players. With TF2, us ctf players are stuck with 2Fort.

I'm not saying 2Fort is rubbish, but it'd be nice to play another CTF map when I feel like it. It'd be nice to not have to wait for ages to only end up with 10 players here or 10 players there and the server is located in Germany or France with a 100 plus ping.

I've heard people talk about originality and things like that. I personally don't judge games by graphics, but I haven't played TFC so I can't compare these two. I guess that's why most people prefer CS 1.6 over CSS.

I like the graphics in TF2, very innovative and humorous! That's what they aimed for and they did a good job at it!

They also built TF2 such that it was much more balanced than TFC. Many people complained!

I finally ended up playing the well classic on tf2...but it was empty. I just wanted to see how it felt. Despite it being a very laggy server, I seemed like it would worked alright with tf2. I loved breaking through the underground. I miss that. I also played 2fort classic with some people and it was a lot of fun. I prefer it over the current 2fort.

on my tf2 server i installed 2 verseions of the tfc well remakes... ctf_well2 and _ctf_well_classic

there are so many custom remake maps out for tf2... casbah, openfire,shutdown, badlands and 2fortclassic in 2 versions... on my sever i giz over 500 maps and many are nice remakes and not this valve shit.. i hate the valve badlands.. but the badlands_classic is great work. check it out

I just noticed that Valve actually had an elevator model of the Well elevator. It looks like Valve decided to make it different sooner or later before release, I guess. I think Well and Badlands were originally going to look the same as they did, but Valve decided to change the looks to make the game feel fresh and new? Which is why Badlands wasn't in the game until 2008.

The thing I love about classic Well is that there was more action involved. I think it works better as a ctf than cp. I think valve had a "team" obsession when they started re-doing all the old maps. It's a good cp map, sure. But it was a GREAT ctf map. I'd love to see somone bring in back in the same old fashion....with the new great source graphics. I'm tfc lover myself...but tf2 has made up for its own mistakes. I love both games equally.

There have been some remakes of classic, and since Valve are now releasing community maps with their updates it's quite possible that the classic well might make it in at some point. So don't lose hope! (Or you can just play servers that have the classic map :P)

yep, the links i send u shows different well maps... all ctf... two remakes where they try to make an 1:1 vonretion from the old map and then well2. which looks like the olde map with the tf2 flair :) i put all on my server and its funny to play. but many new Fortress player hates them coz they dont know TFC or TFC maps ;)

Ah. The one I have in the video was the Well that they released when the game came out. Earlier this year they brought out an update which had a CTF version of Well (which had slight differences). Later they brought out another update that changed the CP version of Well to look like the CTF version (with a few other changes), and then converted the CTF version to make it shorter (ie, removed a huge segment of it to make it like 1/3 shorter!). Yes, it is a modification to the original Half-Life. Then, like all modifications that are popular, Valve bought over it.

They then released it as a standalone game, I think, called Team Fortress Classic (as opposed to just "Team Fortress"). They then made Team Fortress 2.

I happen to love the Icewind Dale soundtrack, but I don't think it's a very enjoyable game (compared to Baldur's Gate and such, anyway. Maybe compared to Diablo).

I like the Halo theme. I actually find the Halo games themselves immensely boring. If this was a video of Halo with Soulja Boy playing over it I'd probably find it a lot less interesting.

Yeah, the Halo music is really nice. I like the remixes they did of the theme for Halo 2 and 3. I'm not familiar with the music in the games you mentioned, sorry. One OST I also like is (surprise, surprise) is the Chaos Theory one.

And I believe Halo OSTs were composed by Martin O'Donnell. However, I'm sure there are more people who are behind it - so you could also be right.
