Treating Women like animals is mostly in Pakistan and Afghanistan, which only represent 10% of the Muslim population. Also, violent against women in Arabia is 25%, LESS than the united States (30%). Anyways, 60% of the Muslim population is in Asia!

That applies only to modern day extremists, i'm afraid, extremists who are complete pricks who oppose all good Enlightenment values, do things that are against even the Koran and the word of God, and hate science. (This hatred however, was caused the long reign of conflicts between west and Islam started by the Crusades). MEMRI TV has among its YouTube videos one called "Muslim Scientist: Neil Armstrong Proved Mecca - World Center."

First, Armstrong is a Muslim only in the sense that Muslims say we ALL are. But the video is three minutes of the stuff that separates the gullible from the thoughtful because, throughout, a Dr. 'Abd Al-Baset Sayyid (an Egyptian) presents a jaw-dropping wish list of idiocies that he seems to accept as genuine science. It's a must-see for all who doubt Muslim credulity.

Any halfway aware person knows that early Islam contributed worthy scientific advances and would not dispute the point. The problem is that Islam has been taken over by people who seem to ask "What would Muhammad do?" and come away with answers that do not grace humanity. Many Muslims today pretend that Islam is responsible for all scientific advancement.

I'm not sure how people credit the Muslim religion with these scientific achievements instead of the people who made them...how is a religion responsible for scientific advancements? Surely it's the people? Why do people not say that certain discoveries or advancements are Christian or Catholic? It seems to me that Islam is a religion that uses propaganda in science to make it seem greater than it is. And many of these inventions/discoveries can be disputed

@bangfarang don't believe everything you hear. One of the most famous of 'muslim' men in their 'history of science' was reprimanded for NOT actually being a muslim by the muslims themselves. Doesn't stop them from saying what he discovered was muslim though. Always question what you hear & never be scared to question religion. I'm not sure what you're responding to, Rachie. If it's to my defense of early Muslims' scientific advances, I don't how you could dispute that. But that energy began to wane in about 1500, evidently under the weight of rising fundamentalism, which put Islam in the doldrums until oil was discovered under Muslims' feet.

Moreover, those discoveries were perhaps exclusively in the exact sciences AND led to precious little creativity, creativity being God's realm, presumptuous for humans to enter.

Like I said, surely a religion is not responsible for these things...it's the people who make the discoveries, not the religion or what the people's spiritual beliefs are. They're Muslim because Islam is a way of life that oversees every ASPECT of a Muslim's life. Terrorists who are Muslims are Islamic for the same reason. Islam once had scientific energy, though it has always substantially lacked creativity. The overriding personality of Islam today is of defense of Islam, itself, for being so backward. By extension, that defense is of Muhammad, HIMself.

And why all the different translations?
