If you want a more pagan-santa movie to watch, there's this stop-motion movie called The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. I think it's on Amazon. It's my fav holiday movie, but abcfamily has stopped showing it (apparently they caught crap because it was "too pagan").
If you're not against buying used items, I suggest searching for items at a Goodwill. My local store is completely full of Christmas items and knick knacks. I was able to find several things there for my Yule altar this year.
Very sweet altar. Love this idea of Santa Claus and the spirit of the holidays!! I might try to incorporate that into my yule ritual. I love Santa Claus and what he represents, I don't know if it's fond memories, or what it is.
I just had one of the most magical rituals, my first outdoor ritual :D! Which was preceded by roasting hot dogs and smores over an open fire with our kids and grandkids, and the full moon shinning over us. Happy Holiday wishes to you and yours!!
@IsisAwakens I am actually aware of this and simply interested in finding out why electricity might be a hinderance in magic according to Red Dragon's point of view. Thanks, though, for informing those that might not have heard of it before.
i love your idea for a santa themed ritual! absolutely beautiful. i was trying to figure out how to bring my girlfriend into yule and this may be the perfect mix!
@RedDragon033195 I'm interested in why you think electricity is a hinderance in magic. All I've heard (but not experienced) is that electric devices may be disturbed by the raising of (electromagnetic) energy in a magical working. This is *typically* why some recommend to keep said devices out of a circle. I've never had an issue, and I use my laptop in almost all rituals to read from and for music.
If you can't find a reindeer figurine, you can always draw or print a picture of one and frame it. Thats what I do when I can't find 3d representations of what I'm looking for.
enjoyed your video, it was fun watching you put it all together with the holiday music!!! your altar will be beautiful when you finish it I am sure.It diffinitely put me in the yule time spirit. Red is a very beautiful color for you.
Lovely altar! Question: I saw you had a Brighid's cross as a tree ornament and was wondering where you found it? I've been trying to find Brighid's crosses around me but can't :( The little Irish shop that used to carry them went out of business.
@writerlyra I actually bought both the Brigid's cross and claddagh ornaments in Galway when I was studying abroad, so that's probably not much help. I think etsy has some nice Irish ornaments, so you might find one there.
@fleurdelacour5787 Ahh I was hoping you'd say something like Wal-mart or Dollar Tree as those are both right near me :P Galway is a little out of travel range (not that I wouldn't love to visit Ireland someday!) XD

@2reapers Our Goodwill isn't usually that great, but we do often check it for ritual supplies.

be careful with elecricity. it can act as a handicap to the ritual rather than assistance, if you're working magick in the rite.

@fleurdelacour5787 all i know is that all rituals, or spells, that i did with an iphone in my pocket or around an electrical outlet really flopped.

@AnyaPagan I had considered it, but we found a beautiful wooden sleigh at work. So my altar is almost complete!

^_^ I get my incense and candles and things at dollar general--I'm a poor pagan too, so don't feel bad xD
Loved your alter o.o but I think I'll be centering mine around the holly king. Where did you get the cloth, too, I was wondering?
Himenohana1 2 months ago
@Himenohana1 I got the runner at Garden Ridge. They have a pretty good selection of colored table runners and table cloths.

@fleurdelacour5787 Thanks, I'll have to go check that out
