I have a 1910 Lauter-Humana also, my piano tuner does not like to tune player pianos but I usually remove the player mechanism to make it easier for him. He is blind and up in the years. I don't have mine tuned as much as I should though.
Fantastic Sound. I Have a Lauter-Humana as well, and was trying to determine an estimated date of Mfg. and notice yours is around 1910. Could you tell me the serial number of your Lauter? Mine is 41431. Thanks
It's 36741. I was able to date it by asking a piano dealer, who had a book of ranges of serial #'s and years of manufacture. So now you know that your piano was built sometime after 1910. Lauter made it's own player actions, so presumably the piano and the player action were built around the same time. Not so, with some other piano makers, who would buy a carload of say, "Standard" player actions, then build pianos for them over a period of time.
Nice! If you get this piano tuned to A440 it will be brighter and much more enjoyable. And yes, they will hold tune at A440 if you get the right person to tune it. Thanks for your Video!
It'll sure make it easier on the ear. I'm an avid collector. I have two player grands, one an Welte-Mignon paper roll player, the other a Duo-Art player also with a digital CD setup installed. I also have a Lauter-Humana from 1903. I just had the Duo-Art tuned and voiced, and it's magnificent to listen to, but it is expensive. I'm saving my pennies to tune the Lauter-Humana soon.
...Also, I've got over a thousand paper rolls. I'd advise buying all the paper rolls you can. QRS stopped paper roll production on Dec. 31, 2008, so they're going to be hard to come by in the future.
Thanks for watching! I haven't had it tuned for a couple of years, (I used to have it done 2X's a year). I have the tools and tinker with the tune but as you can tell, I don't quite have the ear for it. I'm planning on getting it done after the holidays, so stay "tuned."

I'm always on the lookout for anything arranged by the late, great J.L. Cook.
