  • I've added this movie to my queue at Netflix. Thanks for posting this clip. I don't have a deerhound, but I do have a lurcher. She's a greyhound mix. I loved seeing these big dogs get comfy on the furniture. That's not something you saw in a lot of old movies! LOL

  • Hi

This is one of my favorite movies as well but I think that the dogs in this movie were those of Nora Hartley.

I'm sure I remember her telling about standing on a ladder and waving food about in order to get one of them trained to bark for the film.

It's been a long time and I could be wrong maybe it was Anastasia but I'm pretty sure.

At least I have been telling people for years that the dogs in the movie were Nora's.

  • I had my two irish wolfhound pups and my greyhound tied up outside the library...a woman saw them and recommended I see "I Know Where I'm Going"...so I borrowed it and watched it...including all the special features, where the dogs are identified as irish wolfhounds! No wonder I get confused when I look at my Greta...great scene!

  • Yep! they look like wolfhounds on an extreme diet - how often people have commented - 'oh a wolfhound' to oor rogue - only to have to be corrected and told 'nope! Scottish Deerhound'

  • its a good movie. i just rented it from the library - shocked that they even had it! - however as good as it was... the accents all seemed fake. i would LOVE to see this movie remade!

best scenes were this one - the hounds!- the eagle, and the whirl pool.. good FX for such an old film :D

  • This is such a good movie!! I love it too-its where i first feel in love with deerhounds too!

  • Please Please tell me the name of this movie so Sigmund the loyal and wonderful deerhound of ours can watch all of it not just a bit. I love your videos

    Thanks

    Wonford

  • Please tell me! What's the name of this movie!!!??? It's great.

  • I Know Where I'm Going - a favourite movie of Scorsese by Scottish and Polish Director / Producer Duo Powel Pressburger who also made the classic Red Shoes and A Matter of Life and death along with loads more . . . go to the international movie data base and ad this prefix

  • The film is called "I Know Where I'm Going" from the song of the same title, and the wonderful music is provided by the Glasgow Orpheus Choir, of which I am proud to say my grandfather was a member. This film, which I've known since my teens (I'm 33) is only one of the reasons that the Deerhound is an obsession of mine. Happily, my

dream comes true next week when I pick up my first Deerhound puppy.

  • I never knew this movie existed either. I would love to find it. What's the name? It will be a new favorite.

  • I can remember talking to Tasia in 1990 about her dogs being used in 'the films' a long long time ago - not only does it seem possible that it could have been her dogs but the charactor in the movie, to my mind could have easily been based on Tasia.

She also often spoke of some of her art friends (which included actors) on the occasions we conversed about the subject.

  • I did not know that this film existed. Are these Tasia's hounds?

  • Thanks for another deerhound video. I noticed that it didn't take long for one of the dogs to 'paw' one of the cast. Does you're deerhound have any of these habits: snapping his jaws/teeth when excited, usually at you or another dog; needing to paw anybody that comes within range; nibbling at you with his front teeth (mine does it on my neck). Just wondering? I've met other deerhound owners whose dogs do some of these.

  • thats kinda cool :D my American Bulldog will snap her jaws (i call it chopping) when she is happy to see me or greeting a new friend. sometimes she licks while she chops which can sometimes intimidate people :( nice to see my breed isnt the only one to do this :D
