  • Funny that, I mainly play games for the story. Game mechanics and graphics are secondary and only stops me playing if they are frustrating, and I can't remember a game that've been like that lately that I've played. I bought MW3 for the story and the scripted spectacle they presented. It's multiplayer hold no interest for me at all cause the last good cod mp was cod:uo. The rest is I just don't like. Anyway, he is just one opinion and more often than not I find it flat out wrong.

  • I really hope that they make Sky E-Sports, I would pay for that!

  • I've never played a single second of the starcraft games, I have no idea what any of the terms are or what any of the units do but gotta admit it something fun about watching big wave of enemies fight each other and try to out think each other

  • I have never liked Starcraft 1 nor 2, feels pretty boring. I like C&C, seems more fun. Aliens, marines, meh, I don't think so.

  • shadow crystals are free to produce, the paper cards are basically advertising, it's not taking a loss, it's passing the cost of a product onto the consumer, maybe making a nonexistant or tiny profit off the paper version... however the paper version if it's designed to break even, will be a great form of nearly free advertising. MTG and MTGO could do the same thing if they wanted, they may make less money, they make more, it wouldn't ever be a "loss"

  • If you compare watching SC2 to watching Street Fighter there is one very clear thing that comes to mind: Action and Consequence.

When watching SC2 you can see how a player move his units, what units he favor and how he reacts to his opponents by changing his strategy in a phase that is easy to pick up.

In SF this is more twitch based and an observant only see the reaction of the player, never the real buildup to the sudden Ultra Combo, which makes it hard to see why it happend.

  • i dont play starcraft but i watch it

and to be honest, i dont really know y i enjoy it either

  • @wubbybutt I'ts a boring game, that's why. Just like the new Civilization game, when you can't be a warmonger, and go totally bananas blowing everything up, it stops been fun, and more like a chore.

  • @Ryuuken24 Kidding me? The new Civilization is ONLY about being a warmonger. The AI's act like George Bush psychopaths declaring war left and right, and there is absolutely no religion or corporation mechanics, tech trading or diplomacy even worth mentioning.

It's a classic case of "LAWL BOOM BOOM" ruining a game's greater depth and strategy, when the devs think all we want is just to blow shit up.

  • I disagree with you saying Assassins Creed was easy. Though it isn't the toughest game around I feel that it is more of a cinematic game than a challenge mode title and presenting a super hard mode would just ruin the aesthetics and story telling. Plus the whole game is based on stealth and specific combat actions which restricts difficulty to how the player chooses to approach unique combat instances.

  • @wunderdub The problem is that alot of the time theres no reason to be stealthy , you can just go in and kill everyone, what would be nice is first off difficulty settings, and secondly on harder difficulties if you decided to go all in and try to kill people, you would probably die, in part forcing a stealthy play style to the game. The game is good but it truely has no challenge, which does upset alot of people.

  • TB should make a Ship video to bring it to life

    that would be awsome

  • Thumbs up if you have played The Ship recently

  • wow... one of his best Mailboxes but it didn't show in my sub box

  • in finland arirang (the korean channel) actually shows sc2 matches from time to time. so its shown on tv here :)

  • Because when i watch SC2, i can see that this guy has some grunts and is blowing up a building... In LoL if i didnt understand the game, i would be somewhat more lost. That and SC2 is more interesting to watch than street fighter or LoL...

  • "If I have a favorite character and he gets killed off, I might not enjoy the next season as much"

    Someone's still watching 24 :P

  • @Tuffkid42 lol

  • I'd say a call of duty is also quite spectator friendly. As long as the shoutcasters are good of course.

  • I like to watch starcraft 2 because it has pretty colours :D

  • To the ones that say this didn't come up...it did, just in a insanely stupid way.

under the one video that did come up (to me it was WTF is Serious Sam 3 multiplayer) there is a ridiculously tiny link that say "+1 more video" i just figured this out now.

Is YouTube trying to annoy the shit out of us? It's like they don't want people to watch the things they're subscribed to.

  • @Vornek88 oh...i thought that meant lime a thumbs up on google+ fucking google and youtube being dumbasses

  • I mostly watch StarCraft 2 because I suck at it. pluse its really easy to understand imo whats happening since it one big Rock, Paper, Scissors match were as LOL is more complicated as a viewer to understand what is going on. though im geting better :)

  • Was going to complain about you saying soccer, then you said real foootball :).

  • dont use my sub box :D just click on TB's channel and then vids.... simple

  • It is really annoying yes, but if you click on his channel on the left upper coner of the starting page you will get a propper updated list. But on the question "do I like the new layout?" NO!!

  • why do i bother to subscribe to channels if i wont show me when they release content? really youtube!? really!?

  • what happened to the rss feed doesn't work anymore

  • Made it to my sub box..

  • 19:35 Actually, if you got the football in your opponents endzone thats pretty damn good TB, lol

  • youtube why you fail me?

  • Can we expect you covering DotA 2 in the near future, TB?

  • Starcraft is popular becouse it isn't hard to understand get money, then build stuff, then kill. Get money Shot Boom! and commentators are great

  • @Gamerzb if that's what it's about, that any first-person shooter can be described as "pull the trigger and boom!", and Fighting games can be described as "block and conterattack". See? Being easy to understand doesn't mean it's more likely to become more popular.

  • @icefly20 well just got the new layout that day so it was not late on my part. ;P

  • Can you play the Force Unleashed on PC with a game pad?

  • @Failedmylife ya :D

  • I bet every single person that said "this didn't come to my sub box" didn't click the drop down box under TB's section, that says "+3 more videos"..

  • @Slomoshun09 I clicked it alright, still didn't appear in my subbox...

  • @sarahrocksyoursocks It appears under "More videos" under his Serious same multiplayer WTF

  • @wasp89898989 as i just said, no it doesn't appear.

  • The reason watching sc2 is so good is because you get to see millions of baneling in the opponents base and thats pretty cool to watch

  • @TheJonny42 THE BANELINGS!!! THEIR ARE SO MANY

  • This didn't show up in my sub box, but I ate an Orange and it was k.

  • Well...it came to MY sub box.

you all are just doin' it wrong

  • Jesus christ Youtube, get your shit together and GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMAT. At least back then we could see EVERYTHING the uploaders put out.

  • missed about 5 vids this week, newtube go fuck yourself

  • 300$ on an indie game?

wow, whoever spends that much must be doing vey well.

I am a part time student and work nights full time and my jaw dropped.

  • Didn't show up in my sub box D:< it's been 2 days since I've had a mailbox. Starting to suffer from withdrawal :|

  • Time to start Chess Gambling Online!

  • i have never played SC2 yet have seen everything TB has ever done on it i have access to.

  • This has not been coming to my sub box. This angers me.

  • @whipydip99 Pin TB to your homepage so you can just have a look with ease

  • watched sc2 for a long time, bought it, got up to diamond, now back to watching it XD

  • the ship is fucking epic :D

  • I enjoy starcraft when I have never played it, but that's because I enjoyed command and conquer and other strategy games

  • its funny but most of the time when i play LoL my father wants to watch my games and he actually enjoys it a lot even though he doesnt play the game himself ( of course he doesnt that would be weird) and some times he even spots things that i actually missed out.

  • @SilvirDragon1

you say that if he actually played that would be 'weird' why do you say that?

  • @freannix cuz .. well hes about 50 years old and doesnt even know how to do rather difficult stuff with the internet.....and also i tried playing some games WITH him but hes not very good at games :P

  • TB calling football a "soccer"? HERECY!

  • I would love to see more serialized RPGs. I want to slowly build my character over many adventures rather than go from zero to hero in one and then move on to the next.

Resetting the character Gothic-style isn't very satisfying either.

I don't mind games using the same mechanics at all. I mean, I am still willing to play UFO: Enemy Unknown today. Don't fix what isn't broke and all that.

  • This was a great mailbox!

  • personally i watch a lot of SC2 casts without actually playing the game, i don't even own it. What has me watching it is that it is quite easy to understand what is going on regardless of me never having played it. I have played other RTS titles though, including SC1 way back in the day.

  • My god I wish I had $300 to spend on a card game :S

  • Didn't show up in my fucking subscription box. :c

  • @Inject3on I havent been using the sub box for months now, just too buggy and too much of a hassle, I go to subscriptions on my YT menu, and go to each channel, one after the other...

  • @Inject3on ITS THE CENSUS - ITS ALREADY THE CENSUS!

  • Didn't show up in my fucking subscription box. :c

  • @Inject3on same here :/

  • 14:00 cmon I can't be the only one who thought of Ratchet & Clank when they saw that laser cage complex.

  • I have a theory about the SC2 Esport thing...

It's very easy to see when someone have skills even though you don't play the game:) Just a thought :)

  • I hate that AC doesn't follow the normal "rules" of start out easy and make it harder.

AC is basically hard in the beggining and then they just makes it easier and easier because of all the gadgets and cool stuff you get... makes me a bit saad.

  • i love that game

  • "Jeh"

  • @andyofcomixinc

Nope, section 8 is still completely deserted, sry bro

  • @Tehroxxorz1 It's not, though?

  • Starcraft2 is an easy game to watch, there's a lot of visual feedback. If something looks like it does extra damage to armored units, it probably does extra damage to armored units. I watched SCII before I played it, and the visual feedback combined with the commentators made it really easy to follow. The strategic thinking is what really gets people into watching it. I can't explain it, but people seem to really enjoy watching strategies play out.

  • Hm, this one didn't show up in my subscription box for some reason.

  • @dropkickpikachu

Yeah had that problem too, the new layout only shows one video of the same uploader per day, the others will be hidden under a very small link "one more video".

  • In my opinion Starcraft is would be much harder to watch if not for it's incredible casters. Other esports don't really have superstar casters. Someone who knows nothing about starcraft cant watch it enjoyably without it being presented well. When i watch LoL or blazblue or Street fighter or whatever the games just aren't presented nearly as well so as someone who knows very little about the games I can't get into it.

  • i would kill for 30 fps lol

  • Didn't TB say that SC2 is like chess and dart in a previous Mailbox?

  • @salersky that was more of explaining what made esports a "sport"

  • assassins creed 2 difficulty mod is awesome....check out my channel for gameplay

  • I don't know TB. Getting 100% in AC Brotherhood was a bitch. One of the harder things I've done in gaming in the current generation.

  • SC2 is fun to watch as its easy to see whats happening. In pretty much all physical sports you can see who outplays whom, even without knowing much about the game. I think that is what makes it so fun. SC2 has the exact same appeal to me as a viewers sport, its usually fast paced, its visually beautiful and the players actions respond well to what I see. The pressure and maneuverability makes me look up to the players for their skill in the game, despite that I dont know anything about SC2.

  • probably because SC2 is easy to explain , at least in a bear minimum. I recall before SC2 even launched there were developer vids, the ones w/o commentary were rather dull, but the commentated ones explained units and tactics as they went on, and due to the tech tree nature of SC2 i never felt overwhelmed. If you look at something like LoL action is always happening in multiple places and every hero is drastically different, and its really hard to grasp the game or where it may go.

  • Haha i used to play the shit back in the day

  • I love it when TotalBiscuit gets an idea.

"I revived Section 8: Prejudice singlehandedly... what other games do I like? Oh. The Ship. Prepare to be repopulated, the Ship. MWAHAHAHA~" *twirls moustache*

  • 9:09 "BANG, you dead" he says being shot in the back.

  • Christ this game looks like garbage. I mean you can't even chop limbs off. WTF sort of lightsaber is that. Luckily I have 2 copies of Outcast so I can play a real lightsaber game.

  • @ResurgamZerg You can chop off limbs in that game.It was one of the sequels new features.I don't why it didn't happen in the video, but it is there.

  • I linked a friend to a video of a SC2 match, she didn't quite understand exactly what was happening, but she still enjoyed it ^^

  • I wath EVE Online Alliance Tournament.

  • Starcraft 2 has approachability due to it's slick graphics and is easy to understand.

People watching the game can easily grasp what's going on and what players may or may not do next.

It is also fast paced and can get very intense .

  • Starcraft is pretty similar to the gameplay of Command and Conquer and thats why I like to watch the Starcraft competitive side without even playing the game.

  • Christ! Force Unleashed 2 look exactly like the first one :P

  • @Graevling14 It is the same game but worse and shorter.

  • TB, you can't make a loss on a digital-only item like this. Physical cards alone are extremely cheap to produce. Distributing digital cards costs them nothing at all (aside from design cost and general game hosting, easily covered by their pay system so far, I'm sure.)

  • Serialised games? HALF-FUCKING-LIFE. nuff' said

  • also I enjoy watching SC2 since I played skirmish games like command and conquer: generals and the battle for middle earth games, yes they are less hardcore but they have fuelled my enjoyment for skirmish games since I was little...

  • I don't know about anyone else but I enjoyed the combat in all of the ACs, yes it is easy but I like that because it flows, you don't have to be in combat for ages. I also try to stay away from those swordfights anyway since I think the stealth kill aspect of the game is much more enjoyable to play... not to mention those pesky janissaries... :P

  • I bought Assassin's Creed to kill some bitches! lol

  • SC2 is the biggest esport because Starcraft was great, and it's a Blizzard game.

  • @8L0NDI3 Yeah that...explains nothing. You're just saying from a fan point of view(subjective) and not from a general point of view(objective).Better to have TB talk about it than an average gamer.

  • I mostly play shadow era while listening to the mailbox, would love to meet tb in a agame ^^ even so he probably has every card ever... 4 times

  • it has nothing to do with the unpredictably. as tb said, its because its a concept you dont see in normal sports, and its an even playing field from the start(like most sports) i do not play sc2, never have played sc2, never will play sc2. i do however enjoy watching sc2. its a very open field game that gives people room for creativity. it is the ultimate viewer game, nothing else comes even remotely close.

  • NOOOOOO I wanted to see the boss fight :(

  • reason why i watch SC2 in esports (i don't even play it) is because games are unpredictable, u never know when one player might screw up, might not respond in time, most players that are pro tend to have a lot of skill in SC2, i love "precision" gameplay, the gamepla in which 1 action or lack of might dictate the outcome of a game

  • About that Esports question, I did a "review" for my teacher in school about Starcraft 2....Damn it was hard to only have 4 pages about it >D

  • FYI: E-sports been on TV before. Eurosports once shown a Counterstrike tournament

  • Look at the olympics you dont look at every event.

Too much events and you only watch your favorite events.

Hmm.. Makes me think of SC2lympics.

    MaIn event: Tournament main game.

Other events: Every E-sporty custom game.

    XD

  • I hope sc2 doesnt go to tv i dont actually own a tv anymore

  • SC2 is kind of overhyped, there's no reason for people to like it as much as they do. Once you've seen one game with no Zerg, you've seen them all. Only watching a zerg is fun. Anyway Guild Wars 2 will be so much more fun to watch and probably take more skill, with less of APM spam.

  • Only 2 000 subscribers to get to 600k subs! Congrats!

  • SC2 e-sports is popular in Korea and Europe. How about the USA?

  • people watch starcraft cause its kind of intresting to someone that dosent know haha like me

  • this game was terrible

first game i didn't like when i got my xbox

  • I am one of those who watch Starcraft2 and not play it...

  • Why couldnt we have had Battlefront 3 or... Republic Commando 2 instead of The Force Unleashed 2.

  • heres my thoughts on why SC2 is a good spectator E-sport (coming from a person who has never played starcraft) is that you dont have to know the advance mechanics of the game to understand whats going on. any spectator knows that each player is defending their base and atempting to destroy the opponents. comentators for spectator sports (like football) help the viewer through the advance stuff (like penaltys and such) so that the viewer can enjoy watching the action of the game.

  • One thing is that the Roster for SC2 is significantly smaller. There are three sides, each with their own unique units sure, but they can't mix units from one race to another. MOBAs don't have set sides in tournaments, it's a free-for-all from a roster of 100 "units". There is just too much for a spectator to take in. Maybe if the genre of MOBA actually stuck to some semblance of "sides" more people would understand what is going on and can support a "side".

  • Damn. Wanted to see you kill that boss for some reason

  • @Darkmunky2 That's no boss, just an bigger badguy.

  • @Darkmunky2 Oh, that's not a boss... Just a little tiny bit more difficult of an enemy... If you encounter a boss in that game, you'll know immediately.. You'll have something to do for the next half an hour...

  • i have to say i have played starcraft but never had the time to realy get descent at it, but i love to watch high tier play. In the end i watch it for the commentators like HD or Husky :D

  • @Clermn i disagree LoL -Graves

  • Comment removed

  • i started watching sc2 before playing it. I played LoL before i watch it. SC2 is easier to understand and grasp. LoL you need to know all the different abilities from all the champions.

  • I played assassin's creed for the story and for the trick shots I could set up. Going through an alleyway and killing three guards without anyone noticing is hilarious as a side show.

  • TB- "Don't screw with Balance!"

    MW3-MP7 That is all...

  • @HBFBajaRacer SC2-Marine. CoD4-MP5. SCBW-Ponies. LoL-Karma

  • @TotalHalibut That poker analogy was damn brilliant!

  • WTF is Dungeons of Dredmor? People need to know.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheMistheart He already did that... /watch?v=pyTfUnnxZV4 there you go... spread the word!

  • WTF is Blacklight Retribution please

  • Do you like CCG? Do you like skill-based RTS? Then I suggest Battleforge, good game, which far too few people even know exists.

  • 4:12 Did he just stab him...in his...

  • @TwitchingJacob Yes. He did.

  • tb if 30 fps to you feels uncomfortable imagine me with a 10 or 11 fps on LoL

  • The Ship got revived about 3 weeks ago after Blazing Griffen gave everyone 2 gift copies to everyone who owns it then within those copies were another free copy to give out again (so a total of 4 copies per game) and that has revived the game for now. Not sure if it will keep it alive but it might do it.

  • Wow the force unleashed 2 looks amazing but the frame rate cap is terrible... Fuck consoles :(

  • another big reason I like starcraft apart from the reason mentioned in this video is the skill cap which I have seen that is required. I don't know the meta game of starcraft 2 let alone be able to think as fast as the pro players and then execute commands on a keyboard at 300 apm or whatever , pro sc2 is just impressive because you know how much skill is involved.

  • In terms of accessibility Dawn of War 2 is a far better spectator RTS than SC2. In SC2 there seems to be a long periods with really not much happening other than base building, this is not spectator friendly. When combat begins what you see is an abstract slugfest where two blobs of units line up and one blob wins.

In contrast the entirety of gameplay in DOW 2 is the outmaneuvering of your opponent, this is a much more tangible thing to spectate, you can SEE how a player wins or looses.

  • 15:00 I played SCBW for years and years, never touched SC2 for a second. mostly no time. Love watching SC2 however.

  • SC2... Besides it being an RTS (I'm a fan) I enjoy the commentary. Day9, TB, and dApollo make it enjoyable..

  • o noes.. wanted to see the end of the fight with the robot xD

  • Having never played any of the Force Unleashed games, I don't know the guy's name, but every time he used Force Push I was thinking "Fus-Ro-DA!"

  • Why I watch SC2? Because I like RTS games but I don't give a hoot about metagame. In short, I like to watch, but I don't like to play competitively myself.

  • @TotalHalibut I agree, the Ship definitely needs more attention. I love that game, but the 2 servers available online are beginning to bore me. It would be great if you did a "why we can't have nice things" about it.

Well, thank you for mentioning the game in this mailbox, hopefully some of your viewers are curious about the game now.

  • FUCK YOUTUBE NEW LAYOUT ENOUGH SAID!!!!

  • @jonnyrbgomes Little late to the fuck the new layout party. =/

  • I get bored to hell while watching Starcraft...

  • I love Space Marine. Tons of mindless violence and fun. It's not a game with a very heavy story, but I liked the story. I thought it was alright. I mean, at least I could understand perfectly well what was going on.

In MW3's campaign, I had no idea what was happening half the time...

  • @pattoe you may be smart. I don't want to alarm you, its not a sure thing, but the initial tests are showing exceptional understanding. I know what you mean, and a large number of my games: Terraria, TF 2, Minecraft, Spore, I bought because I saw TB and Jessie play, or I saw Kootra play, or SsoH, or the other creatures play, and I grasped the concept, the terms, and the mechanics pretty quick.

  • Fine brandy + TotalBiscuit = a great evening. :)

  • Dragon age 2 new units have spawned.. where were they ... in the closet

  • I actually believe a lot of it comes down to how these games are presented. Arguing that one game is easier to understand than another makes little sense since practically any game can be simplified. On the other hand, few games have casters that Starcraft attracts. They draw the crowds, who then get curious about the game, learn incrementally, then get hooked. Take Husky for example, or the Korean playgu, reaver reaver reaver casters, or football. I also only followed LOL when TB casted it. :/

  • Haha someone should make Poker Chess, it sounds amazing

  • @TotalHalibut

Hey TB, in this episode you talked about your problem with modern videogames and "set pieces." How do you feel about MGS4 in this regard?

  • how did you to get it to run it that fast it locks at me at nine frames

  • I think Quake Live is pretty easy to follow without playing it, it's pretty easy to tell who's winning: The guy who shoots the other guy to death more often. Of course, there's MUCH more going on in the background (monitoring item spawns, predicting where the opponent will be, pushing for important items using suppressing fire, etc) but it's fairly easy to understand at a glance.

  • I did have a favorite charicter on my tv show but he went crazy and claimed he had tiger blood sh he got killed off!!!
