  • i dont have swivel chair....FUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • Step 1 : Pull 20,000 dollars out of your penis/vagina

Step 2 : Cover up your walls

Step 3 : Buy random equipment

    Step 4 : Record.

Did you know? I like trains.

  • step 1: get a computer

step 2: get a midi keyboard

    done

  • Man, if I had a home studio i'll be rapping my ass off

  • @JohnBeast824 lol at first i thought it said raping XD lol

  • @JohnBeast824 Your not the only one <3

  • This video was confusing and a lot of the equipment was unnecessary. I should make my own video about how to set up a home studio.

  • Video lost all credibility as soon as the chair had arms.

  • step 1 through 9: Cover everything up

step 10: Pull $10,000 dollars of equipment out of your ass and record.

  • @JordanConti i lol'd

  • @JordanConti Step One: Get Linux and JACK with some audio editing software.

Step Two: Pull £90 worth of microphones out of your basement/bottom/podcast setup/etc.

    Step Three: RT-Flipping-M.

Step Four: Start Audacity, set it to JACK Audio and record.

  • here is what you really need:

    1. guitar

    2. amp

    3. male male 1/8 inch headphone cable

    4. 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter

    5. mixcraft

  • @nintendo768 lol id invest in some better software then mixcraft.

  • Cant forget the heavy drapes you fucking assholes

  • They forgot a home! You need a home for a home studio!

  • can't get a mixer use a usb mic

    now thats ghetto

  • u forgot 1 thing that u need the 109th one : going to a real studio is cheaper -.-

    and yes it DOES squik

  • This tells you nothing about what equipment to use and how to use it and what wires you should use and how to actually record music onto a computer or a disc. All this video does is tell you what curtains and rugs you should have in your studio -.-

  • lol make sure its not squeaki!!

  • Rofl I use a £3 mic into cubase and superior drummer through cubase into shitty monitor speakers. I have gotten better quality than local studios xD

  • Some good advice about soundproofing. You won't need all the equipment shown if you're starting out on a budget.

  • and this got 213 likes... HAHA

  • wahhhh wtf is this!?!? it wasn't helpful at all.....

  • really a stupid video when i want to learn how to "set up" a studio im not looking for advice about nice chairs and desks. I want to no about recording programs and equipment i need

  • do they have to tell you how many channels on your mixer you have to have

  • A teenager can't afford buy a piece of fragment of all those thing lol

  • musical instruments are optional? what are you gonna do sit there and stare at the wall?

  • Why are all howcast 'experts' retarded?

  • ROFL'd at this xD

  • 2:15

  • 0:17 - 0:46 Or just buy an instrument and a microphone and build everything else yourself.

  • If your instrument is equipped with electronics, you don't need any of that stuff.. I can record with just my bass, amp, 1/8'' to 1/4'' audio jack adapter, 2 way 1/8'' audio cable, and my little netbook. Don't believe me? I have a short video up right now of me playing bass using my "studio" setup.

  • ... heya friends. This looks about right but you might put the speakers a bit further from the wall as not to increase the standing wave issues. And owens corning 703 (4") wrapped in fabric is GREAT for absorbing the unwanted reflections ... check our channel as well if you like ... some cool free stuff. SecretPros ... have fun making music!

  • Under swivel chair it says : Computer... HOW THE HELL R WE WATCHING THIS VIDEO IF WE HAVEN'T GOT A COMPUTER??!! i just did caps to get ur attention.

  • I like the "make sure it doesn't squeak" tip. If you're looking for a recording rig, you should check out our StudioBLADE keyboard workstation. Its like a whole Studio in one easy keyboard. It runs Windows 7 and is perfect for recording, producing and even mastering. Check out the videos on our channel!

  • What a lame video.

  • The video started out promising, but then after it did a checklist of what tables you had... it all went down hill from there.

  • and go away my 3.000$

  • i subcribed please subscribe me back :) ty m8

  • That looks like a rather closed in, uncomfortable space.

  • I see a lot of mistakes. Also avoid putting the monitors on the wooden stand laying on the desk. You will have discoloration and the sound will be affected. You will generate a 200 Hz increase and you will add it into the mix. And it will be lessen in bottom mids at the car.

  • I see a lot of mistakes.

  • if noise you egg cartons ;D will use

  • this video is AWESOME! (SIKE!!!) LOL LOL LOL

  • I have to say, this is the gayest and least informative video i have ever watched.

  • @MrZacJohnston I agree.

  • somebody help me what do i need if i only want to record singing to added backgroud music, what kind of microphone and what kind of recording program would be good(so that i can add backgroud music and record singing to it) and also how to connect microphone to computer so that it would sound good. I really want to record singing with good quality but i don't know HOW and i've been looking for help everywhere.

  • that's my dream studio, but this video is REALLY useless and the lady talking makes me want to listen to justin(e) bieber

  • fuck sake i want to know how to record not how to furnish my house.

  • where can you get step 4 & how much does it cost?

  • NOO DONT USE RUGS!

YOU WANT THE BEST ACOUSTICS POSSIBLE

  • @beansterman1998 Echoes aren't necessarily acoustics, You can use a reverb to get better acoustics

  • @beansterman1998 If you can't use rugs, what can you use to get the best acoustics?

  • @Chicago10281 Stuffed animals are cute. Just cover your walls with them.

  • If anybody watching this really does want to set up a home recording studio PLEASE ignore everything contained in this video. This was so bad I don't even know where to start ctiticising it - It's almost like a spoof video along the lines of 'How to build an intercontinental ballistic missile in your basement in a weekend'.

  • @2182248 i lol'd

  • @2182248

    LOL

You got it mate ... the video is in the category "How to pour water out of a bucket"

  • @2182248 If this is so bad, where can I find a good video? I really need to learn how to set up a home recording studio.

  • @brosilgol this does tell you how to set up a studio. you just need the equipment, which gets expensive. imho.. you'll want 2 good large diaphragm condensers. (for vocals, and so you can record your acoustic guitar in stereo - through the two mono mics) you will also need to play around with mic placement to find the sound you want. you will want a 2 channel micpre (to amplify the signal from the mics.) You will need an audio interface (to record and convert your signal to digital.) and monitors

  • @brosilgol - check our channel my friend ... I think you'll dig it. We got a world-class acoustician talking about studio design ... =) SecretPros

  • Good information here

  • I'm glad this video taught me how to set up the interior design for my studio... this was pointless

  • Cant you just buy a harddisk recorder?? Like a fostex?

    Is computer better?

  • this is a great vid if you're retarded.. ffs,

  • how many people have seen a studio with milk crates and 2 x 4's ???

  • thaats helpfull thanks u !!!

  • In my view, this video focusses to heavily on the obvious and rather unimportant "how to put stuff on your desk", whilst glossing over the much more difficult and crucial, "how to choose kit".

  • How to eat some food......Step 1 - grab food, Step 2 - put it in your mouth, Step 3 - chew, Step 4 swallow, Step 5 - repeat until you are fucking sick!! What a load of SHIT!!!!!

  • why was the graphic equalizer "optional"?

is one of the most vital things in music engineering!!

    this video is terrible!

  • @skatepark02 What about mic stands, cables, shock mounts, or even head phones... None were mentioned. This video is terrible indeed, but I don't think that a graphic eq should even have been mentioned on there over many other things.

  • FAIL.

  • Step one, take 10,000 hours to learn how to sing and play the instruments.

Step two, take about 1000 hours to learn how to operate recording software.

Step three, take 100 hours to learn how to write songs.

Step four, write a song and sing it for a few people for responses.

Step five, now you may begin to record.

  • @1971SuperLead 100 hours to learn how to write songs?????? Really?? You must be gifted, What was your last hit single man??

  • @jonomutiny, Ya, ha ha, the "100 hours" was totally off the cuff and not a sceintific result by any means. My point was not on how to write songs but how incredible ridiculous this "instructional" video is. In fact, I left out the 1000+ hours it takes to learn the art of recording and mixing.

If I was going to learn song writing again, I would study Paul McCartney. He's the master.

  • @1971SuperLead You have the second and third steps mixed up. Anyone who is of adequate intelligence would be fine using any software after 100 hours. Songwriting... now that may take even longer than learning how to play the instruments. Point noted though lol.

  • @semperfidelis3100 I bought the Pro Tool Essentials software....dude, I never recorded a single thing. It was mind numbing. I spent almost 30 hours on it and then gave up...and I've owned home recording studios for 20 years! I was an aerospace repair technician for 21 years. I can do most anything... except operate recording software! lol

  • @1971SuperLead Yeah Pro Tools is a bitch lol. That's why I use Logic. Apple rocks haha.

  • @semperfidelis3100 I need to find a used Apple. I really want to use a computor but so far it's all just too crazy complicated. It's also super easy to erase everything you just recorded. "Damn, I forgot to hit the save button again!"

  • @1971SuperLead Yeah man buy a used MacBook Pro or iMac, a used Apogee Duet Apple Interface, a used Logic Pro 9 full version and you'll be squared away. I saved a lot of money doing that. It would have cost me $2200 for all of those things new. I got it all at around $1300. Apple isn't the best for everything but they're def the best for music.

  • @semperfidelis3100 Thanks for the info.

  • @1971SuperLead I don't know man, i ain't much of a singer but when it comes to instruments, thats just natural same with writing music, if it isn't, then sure but then there's not much of a chance of pro is there?

  • Woooow Dude ! You missed the most important devices of any PROFESSIONAL studio that determine EVERYTHING about your sound. 1: BBE (Phase & Amplitude correction circuit) and 2: Top quality COMPRESSOR (tube type preferred).

You could kill both birds with one stone - BBE Maxcom.

Just try one in your mixdown first. Switch it IN then OUT and hear the TRUE sound. Some musicians are afraid to use a BBE because it doesn't make-up for lack of talent. Try IT.

  • Lol. You can takes out many of those with having a good computer. Then some midi keyboard and monitor speakers and mic and i think you are done.

  • Hahahahah...so retarded. What, this is th 80's videos. Nowadays people make fucking professional recordings at home for twice less money she suggested we should have in this crapy video.

  • crap man that's a nice studio but this video is useless.

  • rubish

  • lol

    musical instruments is optional?

  • a lot of people use the computer as the musical instrument.

  • true

  • I like the studio A LOT, but it's useless video, they didnt take cheap equipment. So it wont help very much!

  • this is useless. what is this bitch chattin'?

  • @davGbrap useless???

    fuck you

    this shit make sense

  • if you have a really low budget, you can make a pop filter out of panty hose and a hanger

  • watz a panty hose?

  • This is so fucked up ^^ nearly everything is wrong because every studio is different... Why do i need a cd player? They didnt even ask which music genre we want to produce...

  • make sure you have a cheap Mbox on your desk, cause their crap lol

  • na you a mic a pop screen and a computer :L:L

  • u dony accualy need ol of that me and my band record demo in mixcraft,,and it sounds awesome...,,,its like recorded in a real studio..

  • make sure to invest in that chair guys!!!!!! lol i don't know if anybody here can help me but can somebody tell me how to attatch the pop filter because i'm not sure if i'm doing it right or if someone could do like an instructional video or just pm me... please help if you can... thanx :)

  • unscrew thebottom ofthemic...plac it in the small round part of thepop filter he screw it back on the mic

  • Can someone tell me what are all those things in step 4? The one he puts on the desk, the other on his left and right?

Dont go into much detail, I google it laer, just tell me what they are.

  • mixers

  • I did actually know that Boston fact

  • is this meant to be a joke ?? :L

  • nope, its simply a shitty video (y)

  • this was really helpful :D

  • Good learning video

  • good vid

  • Enormeous good vid!!

  • wowowow I am glad I found this video I was looking for long time.

    Thank you so very much..

  • Its like I was hypnotized while watching this. Position instruments for ease of use.. My God, what genius made this breakthrough. Did they for get step 11, beat your head senselessly into the ground for having watched this video. The irony is, if you know how to use all this equipment then you probably know how to set it up. This video is like telling a fish how to swim.

  • @sethpajak dont forget this genius also knew that in the list of things you need instruments is one. I was sitting in my studio all day trying to figure out what was wrong until i saw this

  • @sethpajak MASSIVE....tellin a fish how to swim:)))))))...big up!

  • basic but useful for those who know nothing., professionally done. kudos.

  • is this for real?

  • what a load a crap!

  • Agreed.

  • wow thanks very much

  • how much you think this al cost?

  • with that they have probably like 10 grand im guessing not tooo much

  • Lol Test your ability to easily access all of the workspaces from the chair :P

Funny tone of voice, but great!

  • this is so funny ^^

  • darn i have it all but a expensive swivel chair

  • WTF??

    ;-0

  • oh and also.. chair with no arms is WAy better.. you can play guitar in it :D

  • @HebaHC now thats what i need thanks.

  • @HebaHC Definitely a good idea. Of course, in this case, you'll want to make sure that the desk you choose has plenty of space for resting your elbows while you're at the computer, so that you can work comfortably.

  • they mentioned you need musical instruments in a home studio... how stupid can you be?

  • Buy a good chair is more important than buy a good mixer ? o_O

  • really i have all things but a mixer lol

  • ahahahahahaha this is mega gay!

  • If you want to record stuff just get GarageBand and take a free online class on it. It's a program that mixes and records so you don't need a lot of the stuff in the video.

You can keep it really simple by just using your computer and whatever instruments you need or you can make it more complicated by adding high quality mics and other equipment because pretty much anything works with the program.

  • But garageband produces horribly low quality. Logic Pro or Pro Tools Is much better

  • Well, yes of course, but I'm speaking to those who are just entering the recording scene and want a good starting point. Obviously, if you can get your hands on Logic Pro you would want to use that instead. :)

  • or cubase, which is what i use.

  • @DanielleMcOrmond Is GarageBand better than Sonar 8 or Sonar 8.5?

  • wtf dont insult our intelligence, crap video

how to set up a home recoridng studio, THINK NOT!!

dunno which is worse the expert village crap or this?

  • What a joke

  • CHAIR WITH NO ARMS .GUITAR

  • Mackie Control Universal Pro

  • what mixer is that at 2:40?

  • is most cheap pay for record your album

    man this tables is expensive

  • this is the lazy mans way to record. im suprised they didnt tell you to have a laz-e-boy chair. it even says to place everything close to you so u use minimal effort to get to it. lol

  • informative

  • Can Someone Please Tell me Wat The Mixer Plugs Up To?

  • or u could get garageband haha

  • it's a recording studio, not a production studio.

  • lol, musical instruments listed as optional. Oh well, It was better than Expert Village, because they actually spoke about making a recording studio at home.

  • actually, I take that back. They tell you how to arrange a recording studio. I think this may be worse than the Expert Idiots.

  • this is a very good vid on 'how to'.. thumbs up..!

  • this is pretty good stuff, kind of like they we're making it for a high school science class....

  • this video is too cheesy

  • That's Americans for you =]

  • hy guys shut up this is alot of help to people huu dont no any thing about setting up a home recording.

  • Um, no it's not, cause it doesn't tell you anything about the equipment itself or how to wire everything up.

  • It's true, all this tells you is how to arrange your desks and put the stuff on them. XD

  • anybody know what model mixer that was (and company :) )

    thanks homez

  • Yeah it was proper nice. Not sure though dude.

  • Tom Shultz was also one of the team of inventors that created the Polaroid Land camera; the 1st to produce insant color photography. "It's been such a long time..."

  • Oh boy!

  • gee, make sure you get your autotune...not quite sure what people would do without it.

  • option, instruments wtf?

  • damn now i know what i missing all along...

    A SWIVEL CHAIR!

  • lol hahaha

  • lol... a 1st timer with a casio and a tascam 244 might find this informative.

but the swivel chair! gee thanks for that. i never thought about something better than the old kitchen chair now did i?

dam... so close to informative. whats next? splicing tape?
