  • this thing is the shizniz.....I use it for bass and leads it rocks.......check out our music reverbnation c o m/bopo

  • Legends

  • awesome.....!!!!! by the way how much is it cost?

  • Keyboard version of the mopho is coming out soon. I think im going to save up for that instead of buying the Alesis Micron for now.

  • just got mine today. tons of tweaking fun! and hard to put down!

  • Do you need a computer to use this or the new Tetr4? To do more complex things you'll need a keyboard, but does it have to be with a keyboard AND a computer or can you just plug the keyboard into the Mopho/Tetra and play like that?

  • OMG! I need one!

  • Wow - what an exciting prospect! I wonder if there are any other similarly capable analogue mono-boxes? They'd make a nice array to use with Ableton

  • you can look at the dsi evolver and mono evolver. both very cool mono boxes. then there are things like the moog little phatty that is also a cheaper mono board.

  • Do you know if the mono evolver is capable of the same power as the mopho? Or is it completely different (with it's digital effects etc) I think I'd like it if it was - like a mopho+!

  • they are similar but from my understanding the mopho is geared more toward leads and bass and the evolver is more toward pads... i could be wrong in that assesment as I've only played with them a few times in nyc.

  • I see - well, I'd be more on board for the leads and basses. Nothing beats Absynth 4 for pads, in my opinion!

  • In my opinion, while the Mopho is a sweet little box, the Evolver is capable of a lot more. The Evolver will create ridiculous, evolving sounds (hence the name) like you've never heard from another synth. If you spend some time with it, you'll be able to make most of the sounds the Mopho can make.

The thing I like about the Mopho, however, in addition to the lower price point, is the that the panel is a bit easier to tweak. I've got the Evolver but I'll get a Mopho, too.

  • The Evolver can also be used as an effects unit for guitar, voice, or whatever else you can plug into it. I'm not sure about the Mopho.

  • Long live Dave man!!!

    analog heaven on a budget!!!

  • Hi Dave... hope you read this some time. I'm sort of trying to follow in your footsteps. I'm building a custom analog synth with 4 vcos, two 24db vcfs, and a vca. I'm struggling with interfacing the digital (patch storage) with the analog (pot values basically). Any suggestions on reading material that could help?

  • My remark is not ignorant, and you don´t have any sense of humor. Don´t take things so seriously, it may affect your health mate.

$400 for a 1 voice, 2 dco synth is not a big deal for me, 16 voices of it would cost $6400.

Congratulations for your PEK, I used an MonoEvolver and I didn´t like it a bit, nothing to do with a Prophet VS, PPG, or Waldorf hybrid synths (or even Ensoniq SQ80/ESQ1), just thin, ugly sounds. But it´s only my opinion, and you´re not an ignorant for liking that synth.

  • Yeah, the 16 voices would cost 6400 (if you did the math right), but It wouldnt be no regular "poly".

16 part multitimbral + you could take the output of one into the input of another and then the output of that second one into the input of a third one or what ever routing you like.

    Nice wicked modular shit.

If I had 6400 I would think of spending them that way.

  • "I used an MonoEvolver and I didn´t like it a bit, nothing to do with a Prophet VS, PPG, or Waldorf hybrid synths (or even Ensoniq SQ80/ESQ1), just thin, ugly sounds."

If you're getting thin, ugly sounds out of an Evolver, then you're not using it right. I'm just saying. The Evolver is more than capable of creating awesome, fat sounds, so obviously the problem was coming from the user end.

  • Hi, the problem was probably me, and I don´t want to sound like a troll, but to be honest, both the P08 and the Poly/Mono Evolver (I used a Poly last week) rely (on their presets) too much on unison to sound "fat", but that´s not the kind of "fat" I´m refering when I mention the Prophet VS, PPGs, etc. But nevermind, forget what I said.

  • This this ROCKS!

Juno6... The Alesis A6 is a great synth but have you seen the Poly Evolver Keyboard with its voice architecture? Sure its "only" 4 voices but it really is rockin'

Anyone who is interested in Any instrument should go try it b4 you buy. Hell.. these days you can buy and take it back if you dont like it, Give them all a shot!!! ;-)

  • he he he

  • Your remark is ignorant.

This thing is $400.00 thats a great deal for what it does.

But I guess to you everyone should "match" what every other manufacture does right?

I have a DSI PEK and had the chance to buy a A6 instead. But I like the PEK better for what I do.

I guess everyone should copy Alesis.

Dave IS a Innovator. Has been and always will be. He is one of the best people in this industry and I thank him for what e does.
