Of course the new Freddy is way different, but he's also creepy as fuck in his own way. I refuse to say which I think is better until I'm able to see more of this new guy's work. But I do love Robert Englund. He's amazing.

The old Freddy (Robert Englund) was and always will be better. The Freddy Krueger essance (for lack of a better word) is, of corse, scary. But its also funny! One of his trademark lines, "WELCOME TO MY WORLD, BITCH!" is supposed to inspire fear AND laughter in his fans! One of my favorite lines EVER: Black guy: "I'll see you in hell!" Freddy: "Oh Yea? TELL 'EM FREDDY SENT YA!"
I like this movie its more darker and i think make up is better. But i used to get freaked out by nightmare on elm street. But then fred started acting like a clown and stupid deaths came make up started changing and to me it didnt have that fear factor init to freak me out like its supposed to do so i watched the new one and it didnt freak me out becuse i was thinking it was gonna turn out like it always dose clowning around and it kinda spoilt it for me

no one can ever replace Robert, but I'm glad they are trying to bring back the darkness and fear of Freddy because the older films became less scary and more funny. (and sometimes disturbing, which is a good thing) I can't wait to see this movie and see how it turns out. :D

The remake showed everyone who Freddy really is by digging into back story to revel the truth behind closed doors! Wes Craven did 23 rewrites of original script because reveled that Freddy was child molester so remake lets fans know the true origin of Freddy Krueger!

i grew up in the 80's and in my opinion Freddy was the king of horror. I was offended by this movie all the way around. The original Freddy had so much character and charisma and he would've kicked the new Freddy's ass. But I would put the majority of blame on the producers of this simple minded piece of shit, from the abercrombie/model/zombie actors to the changing of the plot. The creators of this remake need to be doing reality tv shows like the hills for mtv not maing horror movies.

The new Nightmare on Elm Street is definitely better in terms of realism, special effects and suspense. However it was too dark and serious. The old freddy was far better i think.

He's been burnt alive, blown up by a pipe-bomb, doused in holy water, and ripped to pieces by the souls of his victims, but I worry that appearing in a Michael Bay production is something that not even Freddy could recover from.
I like the idea of returning to the feel of the original, before the series became a big joke, but I'm still not sure about the actor they chose... though I suppose I'd probably feel this same way about anyone other than Englund.
They are not trying to top the old freddy and disgrace Englund ok..... They are just trying to breathe new life into an old classic...They are paying homage more than anything!!! This new version of the original doesnt live up to the original nightmare it looks too glossy and doesnt have that dark, rusted feel that the original had.

Nightmare 1 and 2 were good solid movies. 3 was decent, but was a bit silly. 4 started getting more humerous. 5 . . . that was just a shitty movie. I hope they don't compromise Nightmare on elms street's intriguing originality in their pursuit to make it look serious. The last thing we would want to see is this priceless classic turned into another mindless slash and hack film.
I don't think it will feel the same anyway, Freddy was better as a manic who has been twisted by his unreal powers as well as his life. If they recreate him as a stoic pedophile then I will be off horror forever.

let's get a pop promo director who doesn't understand horror and remake a great surreal horror film from the 80s and make it easy to watch and not disturbing. I also hate the colour grade, you know, the washed out grey-blue tones. Why? Anyone agree on this or is it just me?

i grew up in the 80's and in my opinion Freddy was the king of horror. I was offended by this movie all the way around. The original Freddy had so much character and charisma and he would've kicked the new Freddy's ass. But I would put the majority of blame on the producers of this simple minded piece of shit, from the abercrombie/model/zombie actors to the changing of the plot. The creators of this remake need to be doing reality tv shows like the hills for mtv not maing horror movies.

To anyone who said that it was bad that Freddy was a pedophile instead of murderer, in the original that Wes Craven wrote, Freddy was in fact a pedophile, he changed it so that it wouldn't make him look like he was exploiting the highly publicized child molestation crimes in California around the time of the original movie. I have done research on it and figured it out.

I love Robert Englund as the original Freddy. Its not going to be the same without him. I don't believe this new Freddy will top the old Freddy. I'm still going to go see it, so I can give it a chance...but I have a strong feeling that its going to suck. :-(

No, he said the original movies got comedic, and they did. Nightmare 1 and 2 were good solid movies. 3 was decent, but was a bit silly. 4 started getting more humerous. 5 . . . that was just a shitty movie. Freddy's Dead might as well have been a comedy, and I don't even like to acknowledge New Nightmare.
