You can be fined and put in jail if you don't buy his healthcare. He calls it optional government healthcare, but it isn't optional in the least. The only way the bill passed in the Senate was with the public option. Which to my knowledge made the healthcare actually optional.

I'm talking about the fact that if the bill was passed before the public option was included you could go to JAIL if you didn't buy it. The way I understood the whole prison thing was that you face a fine if you can afford insurance but don't buy it, and if you fail to pay the fine then prison is a possibility along with a larger fine. Similar to how required car insurance works here.

If health care reform gets passes, it'll be illegal to not have insurance, whether with a private company or a public option. This is to protect insurance companies. They'll no longer be able to decline people with preexisting conditions, so forcing people to always carry insurance makes sure they don't just sign up only when they need to make claims.

I think fines are being considered for those who don't carry insurance, but not jail-time...

Im pretty the certain the health care bill says that you have to have SOME type of healthcare coverage, etheir private or public, so the state governments dont have to foot the bill.

We (america) need to stop thinking that heavily taxing businesses is a great idea. That money should be going to employees, and I don't mean CEO, CFO, executive, management either. I mean the people who DO the work. even if they don't need it. The fact is that these CEOs don't need to be making seven figure, 300x the average employee's size salaries. It's out of control.
