this was one of my favorite song when this album gfirst came out and I still do presently love just as much right noe as well. God bless you Ms. Oleta. irvinbean
I think Oleta is one of the best singers in the business. Her voice is pure and she is always in control of it. She is also a fine pianist. Better than just about anything out here now. She is atleast in the top 10 all-time as far as talent goes. A cross between Anita baker and Gladys Knight.
has anyone else have this problem? maybe it's me... not sure wht is going on w/youtube... i have tried to post some replies & either youtube looses my post & or they do not placed wher the reply should b. so sometimes it can seem like is making a random thought, when they were really posting a comment 2 another tuber. ( just was getting tired of trying 2 find my post... so if a few of my post seem like they don't make sense.... sorry in advance. ;-(
This song got me through the Military and its one of my favorites. Oleta Adams your voice is Smooth as Silk. You are one of the best thanks for the memories. Tears for Fears Roland and Curt discovered her for all those of U who didn't know.
Climbin' every mountain, always killing time Count the cost as days go by
Monday I've got Friday on my mind
Why don't we make love Instead of making plans. Mother Nature, Father Time Maybe it's the family of man Angels cry when they hear that tune It's sleepless nights for the man in the moon. and its the rhythm of life my minds made up the rhythm of life is the force of habit-hey hey the rhythm of life
This song brings about some very fond memories and some sad ones as well, but over all the song is beautiful and has so much meaning. I play it all the time.
yes, tht is Roland Orzabal on backgroud vocals and he produced her 1st album. till this day, TFF that is curt & roland still work/sing with eachother now and then. i think that is great. during one of their concerts she did songs & i think 1 of them was called "my song" i love how TFF presented her with such grace. love love al three of them. if u have not heard some TFF songs with her man, u shold. just pure magic. TFF said tht some of their music changed 4 the better after they met her.
sorry might have mispoke bout roland being on background vocals. TFF and oleta has been know for singing and or working on eachother songs from time to time.
No worries on misspeaking.. this song is also written by Roland Orzabal... and Nicky Holland, another TFF alum... Its gorgeous.. wish it would go on for like 20 minutes.. Actually.. does anyone know if there was ever a 12" single of this song with a longer remix???
There are several 12" versions of this song, this version witch is called "Roland Orzibal Remix" is the single edit version. There's aso an "Reverend Jefferson's Deeper Rhythm Mix" and an "Reverend Jefferson's Choo Choo Dub" version. The two later remixes are sort of early 90's house remixes (in other words; really really bad)
As far as I can remember there wasn't much more 2 the Extended Remix than some hi-hats in the beginning, the opening instumental theme played twice, and soforth...
This song made me her fan

Rich silky vocals, and a great backing track with background vocals with a banging bass, recipe for success.
Don't the words just say it all.... The Rythym of life goes on, OMG mesmeric.

What a powerful song! I remember this song coming out in 1990 and I could not stand it at all.
Until, something in your life hits you that suddenly this song makes so much sense because you can relate to the lyrics.
You can clearly see the lyrics have Orzabal written all over them.

Give the girl a future
Give her what she needs
Teach her life's a Iong flat road
Maybe she'll have better luck than me
Works so hard like he's still in school
His pockets are jammed, but this man's a fool. Within the rhythm of life
My mind's made up Lucy's sign is a Chinese dragon
