  • Thelma Voice Doesnt Sound As Raspy As It Does On The Recordings . Her Voice Sounds Smooth . But Whatever Way She Sounds , She Was Superb !

  • Is this Shiloh CC on Lombard St. where Rev. Baynard pastored for years? She looks familiar!

  • @v8diva: I believe that is where the church is located.

  • Amen Thelma Jackson That Alto/Soprano Know what she doing God Rest Her Soul Jesus :)

  • What a surprise to see my self after over 45 years conducting the Voices of Shiloh. This was during the time of poise and excellence in presenting the very best to God through music. Although most of the members are gone, I thank God for the experience of working with talented and dedicated choir members such as these.Dr. Kenneth M. Dean, Jr.

  • I'm so appreciative for this. As a child of Shiloh C.C. Church in the 60's, I'm stunned to see faces who have been gone so many years. Thelma was the embodiment of the ideal chorister, articulate, poised and well versed in every genre of sacred music. She could sing and read any music, from Brahms' Requiem to the classic gospels, which she would lead with fire and conviction. This must be a recording of the choir appearing on television. Mr. Joseph Lane is directing the Voices of Shiloh.

  • @marcomerrick: I'm glad that you enjoyed!! It was my pleasure to post it!

  • @marcomerrick do you know what year the lady leading this song pass?

  • whatever happened to thelma is she still alive and did she record with another group after the ward singer

  • @bakerbandy80: Thelma Jackson died in 1992.

Before she went to the Wards, she first sang with the Vashti Gospel Singers of Baltimore, MD. Then she (and Frances Steadman) went to sing with Mary Johnson Davis' group in Philly. Then from there Frances & Thelma joined the Clara Ward Specials. Then on to the Famous Ward Singers. Thelma also helped the later Ward Singers from time to time. She did lots of work with her church and she also worked at one of Baltimore's well-known hospitals.

  • @Rowoches Aunt Thelma actually started her gospel music career with my father Bishop Harold I williams with teh Ivory Gospel singers They recorded several songs with the Apollo record label and made the Billboard charts.

  • @williamsivy: My apologies for leaving that out. Thanks for the corrections. I appreciate it.
