  • The very cute boy at 5:16 speaks very nicely. I am Asian but I like the Naive American culture, I see much beauty in nature. It's art.

  • he cute

  • All these words are true and I feel da same way, Not just because of ,my blood and my childhood.. Love it great message!! Plus he handsome... Im not Lakota, but I am Native as Well.

(Lipan-Apache). Wish more people of my generation payed more attention to the old ways, and the lifestlye of our elders.. But its never too late to learn in this life.. One must be heard....being a woman is hard in a world with light skinned folks.. The point is a fact WE WILL SURVIVE!!

  • @lyndonb5 Can you tell him hi for me too! He can message me on this account anytime!

  • She really does express the struggle the best!!That it is always trying to balance two very different worlds.

  • I would love to live as the Lakota do. I have Indian blood in my family and feel the need to goto my ancestors.

  • I hardly understand oral English... Would it be possible to write what they say down, please ? This is importent for me. Thank you for this video.

  • Headed to the Pine Ridge reservation for the summer in July, can't wait.

  • rusty is so full of shit.

  • Fighting for the Black HIlls!!!! Keep the fight on Lakota nation!! I'm cheyenne and respect your people very much :)

  • i am half lakota and half white but i look white i grew up on pineridge along with my mom and i HATE when people call me white being white is a curse being native is a blessing

  • @dillonandrews69

booo :( thats a shitty attitude. we are a race just like you.

not all white people are bad, and its unfortuate that decent people of every culture are put into categories, people should judge based on an individual level. thats the kind of attitude that gets people into hateful discriminative positions in the first place.

  • @LeftHandMeth0d i agree not al white people are bad but no ur race isnt like ours we have a culture like sundances powwows we believe inn tunkasila and spirits we have sweats we get named in lakota we believe in things u dont my mom also said this world is a whitemans world we want our paha sapa black hills back

  • @RampageJanis321 what culture we have no culture... luckily i am unique and was born spiritual i dont link myself to any race i am just a soul and the heart creates my inner culture.... the whites have no culture materialism is not culture... i think god every day i was born spiritual and with a strong mind and soul... and that i can hear the wind and animals when they speak to me ... i am white but somehow i was born part native might have to do with my ggg grandfather not sure

  • i'm black and lakota

  • In the white man's world, a bachelor's degree is hardly worth the paper it's printed on.

Long time ago, we needed lots of educated people to manage and operate factories and mills. We needed educated sales people. We needed engineers and scientific agriculture. We had to beat the USSR to the moon.

That America is long gone and today's slaves don't need education. College is nothing but a cash cow for the states, torturing students with worthless knowledge and debt before they get a degree.

  • skin color cannot define you. your words and actions can. if your words and actions are hateful or ignorant, you are portraying yourself in such away. ethnicity, creed, ancestry cannot portray this.. you can only speak for yourself.

if you actually watch this video, listen to this young mans words, he clearly is communicating that there should be balance.

if you agree with this boy, you should take his advice

  • very inspirational...

  • I totally agree with everyone's opinion about the Whites. I live among them in a very wealthy community. I have no love for any because with their sweet words (supposedly, not to be rude), they are as hypocritical as they come. I don't understand why natives from South America mostly look up to the Whites in their own country. We need to improve, but not look up to anyone but GOD. Thank you to all the Native Americans for showing us there is a sweet and loving world outside of ours.

  • President/dictator Hugo chavez made a comment similar to urs

  • The First People respected the Divine Mother. The white culture blasphemed it, and destroyed much of the Goddess Spirit. The catholic church burned Women to destroy their power and wisdom. With the imbalance, males built the white culture upon bloodshed, and oppression.

No wonder the whiteculture is so f**ked, NOTHING is sacred to whiteculture but money and war!

ps...I am white, so I may say this.

  • I am white as well and I totally agree.

  • @AlyTennyson

i agree. in fact the only people with REAL culture over here in America are the Native Peoples and people that migrate here from other countries. Everyone born in american ( besides Native Peoples) have no culture, the only thins we have is f****** Mc Donalds and debt. American Black people have lost their culture. White people have no culture. Its very Sad. people from other countries like actual africans have a massive ammount of culture as do irish, chineese and what have yo

  • @AlyTennyson

    you're an idiot

  • @AlyTennyson ya me too and i totally agree with you ! there is a major imbalance between masculine and feminine not just in the world but in ourselves part of our purpose is to heal this split .... we treat eachother like objects or prey or a game to be played or somthing to be won... we no longer treat eachother like people... its sad

  • @AlyTennyson lol, I'm Native American from South Dakota, what you have said is right, but don't get the Catholic Church wrong... they hold really powerful spiritual information that they keep out of the public's hands. With the knowledge they know a person can become very very powerful... no matter who they are.

  • @AlyTennyson the catholic church has martyred many godly and has many evils to answer for!

  • @AlyTennyson Oh please are you even listening to what she is saying??She isn't talking about anyone's color.Get a grip

  • true love, sincerity, fidelity, & dream´s tea, no psicos

  • Great and wise young people! Keep praying!

  • first of all, respect for the lakota!

WAKE UP.... industrial hemp is illegal@!!! why is this? our ENVIRONMENT and pockets would benefit greatly from industrail hemp...FUEL;PAPER;FOOD say goodbye to petroleum products and tree products... they could all b replaced for cheaper! for ecology and our economy!!!!!!! LETS WAKE UP

  • Im very taken back by this young mans words. He is very admirable.

  • I know one thing that American policy is still to degrade native people so that in future they didn't raise claim again. When people's conscious world wide will be higher. Certain justice will demand to treat you fairly then there are more chance that you wil have more voices than before higher than anybody in your place. If you haven't raised in status among communityenough you won't be able to do much claim and regain what you lost. In that time world will demand what's been taken give back.

  • i love the way he says the word lakota, the way it should be said

  • very smart kid

  • Han, much respect to my Lakota Oyate. We need to stay strong and remember the old ways. This is a great video. The winyan na hoksila spoke very true and wise words. Remember these words. Wacantognaka, Woohitika, Wowacintanka,na Woksape are the virtues that we Lakota follow. I try my hardest to be humble and and follow these virtues in my everyday walk of life; as everyone should.

I speak these words with truth and a good feeling in my heart.

    Mitakuye Oyasin,

    Lil Sunka Kangi

  • Lakota, your tragedies were more recent but you must understand that 2000 years from now your heritage will not be forgotten and will be looked up to, as our planet will demand a more balanced, evolved, self-sufficient and ecological outlook on life if we are to survive as human beings. BE SO PROUD OF THE WISDOM YOU HAVE GIVEN US! RESPECT

  • Respect to all Lakota. VERY WISE BOY IN THIS VIDEO! AND LADY! I believe the Lakota were one of the most evolved cultures on this planet before the tragedies of the nineteenth century. Fight to revive your heritage! It's not forgotten! I HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT FOR YOU.

Yes I am also a celt (as below) and we've had our share of oppression and 'assimilation', as many cultures have. Still, we managed to keep our languages and traditions alive to this day,2000 years after the first wave of oppression.

  • I hope now that indigenous folk, of what is now called America, and all the other races of that continent will be respectful of each other. I am a descendant of a people who were alive before the Egyptian pyramids were built. My people lived in my country before Jesus was born. They lived here before Moses led his people into the promised land. My people are the ancient Celtic people of Britain. Conquest and change comes to all of us. We must deal with it and move on. I am Scottish.

In English: perhap something like discrimination are in comen, but the Lakota are not Aztecs?? Their language is not even close to Aztec? The Lakota are offended at the mere notion. Los Lakotas tienen repudio cuando se compara! No existe roots o raices! Yo soy Apache?I am Nde, we too are not Aztecs either!

  • seeing all of the good things on here makes my heart swell with pride. and i no there arent many of us natives left but wat is left is some of the greatest and most pure hearted people its sad that we are all divided throughout the states, i wish people who saw things like the natives see things could get the land back they deserve and all peaceable people could live there without all the crap in this world today. i just keep prayin

  • this is my relative. HI ARLETTE!!!

  • My grandfather was full Lakota but I am mostly African American. I am seen by the white man as African American and treated as such. My argument has always been centered around the Native American. I have always said the white man has almost wiped out an entire race of people. Natives should be on the endangered list. I love native traditions. A house divided can't stand. People of color should stick together or we will parish. That is the white mans long term plan for people of color.

  • lordcron; You are right on! LakotaSioux11 has nothing to worry about. I don't agree entirely with Mecha or some of these other organizations like Aztlan. These are very small organizations. They don't have much structure or following, muchless follow through. They identify with Aztecas, as a symbol of Mexican solidarity. Aztlan literally means the southwest US, not Latoka territory. They will have to fight with Apache my people first. LOL. But I agree with smiley6nofx as well.

  • dear lordcron, first of all, respect. but i must disagree with you about 'white man's long term plan for people of colour'. yes, there are certainly white racists who may wish for something along these lines, but in european cities all races are mixing, because people fall inlove with what's exotic. In 200 years time only the tiniest percentage of 'whites' will remain, as all children will be beautiful mixed-race like yourself. in fact most people might look chinese! oh well, no more blondes.

  • i am both Mexican and native and i disagree with some these arguments many people have stated. i believe that we are all one same people of this continent that have struggled for the liberation of our people from the white man. We should not create enemies within indigenous circles, we must instead come together against the real true enemy. These immigrants you talk about are only searching for a new way of life that the white man has destroyed for them. We need lots of medicine and prayer.Aho!

  • it doesnt matter what they offer this country. they were here FIRST if you remember correctly........if you want to get really technical, whites shouldnt be here at all.

  • We as a native American people have to stand united agianst our new enemy, The Aztlan, Aztec, and Mecha. they claim our lands are theirs and they claim our ancestor's tribes was Aztec instead of what our ancestors say our tribes was. They have been yelling racist slurs to people of all races in our USA native american name. This is wrong and we have to let them know they do not speak for us!!

  • True

  • in the modern times ,the balance of intellect and intuition has been lost.this imbalance has separated us from our sisters and brothers,

the winged ones, the four-legged, those that crawl, and those that swim. it has separated us from the elements and from our great earth

    mother.

  • The Aztlan and mecha groups are teaching that the Lakota are not really Lakota..instead are Aztecs and that the Lakota's lands belong to Mexico's citizens. Aztlan and Mecha support illegal immigrants coming onto native american reservations putting central and south america gangs all over the reservations..like sur 13, brown side locos, 18th street, etc. They support the illegal immigrants which bring the drugs onto the reservations. take a stand against them.

  • We need to learn their ways in order to get our Land back.

  • so what she saying we should get a 4 year degree?

  • beautiful and moving.... thankyou

  • you know i have a dear friend from central America who came to north America, and couldn't believe how lucky the Indians were in this country. White people came to this new land bearing bibles. White man came to her county baring guns. Who has more of a reason/right to complain? the ones who still exist or the ones that are extinct?

  • "Ooh, I have a token friend from your race who says to quit whining!" You mean to say whites didn't come to this country with guns? Didn't kill off Natives left and right? What planet are YOU from?

  • Any time someone says "the Indians...", we know your a racist that has no idea about the reality of Indian communities in this country. Further more what the hell are you talking about Indian people have not gone extinct.

  • Most Indians I know refer to themselves as a Lakota or Cherokee first. But, I have also heard them use the term Indian in reference to all tribes. It's not an accurate term, but it's hardly a racist one.

Native American really isn't an accurate term. I was born in America, therefore I consider myself a Native American, even though I'm white, but I don't consider myself European. I'm American.

  • you are correct...most white people want to stereotype themselves as if they can be the only real americans...

But the word American came from Latin defining the native people that lived here 200 years before the United States of "AMERICA" even existed.

    America is the

  • Why don't you consider yourself European though? Like, Australians, New Zealanders, the whites there can be referred to as "Europeans," why not Americans? We come from Europe.. I consider myself European. I think Americans ought to get better in touch with their roots... i.e. Europe...

  • I've never been to Europe. I know very little about their culture, their governments, etc. My family has been in the US for over 150 years. Why on earth would I consider myself European?

  • Because your familly came from there. It's your roots. If you choose to deny and forget your heritage, that is your choice.

  • haha, I don't deny it....I just don't identify with it.

  • Oh okay I understand that better. I our values are just different. :)

  • You Forget that not all Americans are from Europe. Yet in the same manner you are only picking a certain time in your people's history to choose to define you. You should look farther back because even Europeans come from Africa.

  • Then those aren't REAL Americans. They just have like, US citizenship or whatever.

  • and the Europeans weren't real Americans they just had small pox, guns, and racist ideals like manifest destiny.

  • LOL that is so true

  • Your Adam and Eve are just a myth. The culture of one group having power over everyone else has brought more bloodshed and war than anything the indigenous could conceive. The U.S. Constitution is not a God inspired document. It originally only applied to white males, from English ancestory. German immigrants were treated better by the Mohawk than the English colonists. Some prefer to forget any ties to the other side of the world because of all the horrors of it's history.

  • What?

  • i am a lakota we dont act like the whites it comes from the moms side and my mom is no white i am not white, i am lakota i am not in touch with thie so called "Europeans" we dont want anything with the whites.

  • I am white. Shame - I didnt choose that skin color, you know?

  • I feel your pain..I'm half but I look mostly white *cries*

  • @NeCacaluXuxultic

being white is not a curse, you should look and see just exactly what the white is, jesus you guys are acting like its a damn disease to be white, if youre irish, irish people have thick beautiful roots if youre english they have deep culture. white SHOULD NOT be considered under one category, how should australians feel if you are bashing white people, when they had no part in the situations over here. its not right on anyones part. indians are not under one category,so.

  • @LeftHandMeth0d, I know.I was kidding..i'm actually proud of my white side.. WE MADE ZORRO! :D (in terms of skill...we are Zorros)

  • @tlilmiztli

    you're an idiot

  • Comment removed

  • @tlilmiztli actually speaking about "white man's way", it is not about the color of skin, but about a way of thinking and acting; and the world it is spoken about when saying "white man's world" in the context, is a world that has little to do even with white man's traditional ways.. you should know.

    Peace

  • @crazymarine1991 You are Lakota One day you will be in need of a hand to help you out. If you was blind then my hand will not be needed? no whit mans help?

  • @IsaiahLoupan we have learnd that the whites are no help, all we need is american iondian help thats it.

  • How dare you insult my people in such a way. Yes it was a great tragedy what occured with the natives of south and central america long ago but as a native man I proudly say I do not pray to a white man's jesus I follow my people's beliefs and pray to grandfather & mother earth. They didnt come bearing bibles they murdered and attempted to enslave my people and force those bibles down our throats.

  • You've got to be kidding me. Incredible amounts of violence were used by the US government against Indians. Furthermore, the eradication of Indian culture with "bibles" was hardly a good thing either. The decimation of Indian culture was as tragic as the bloodshed.

  • I've read an article about Pine Ridge in a Brazilian magazine edited in English, and now I wanna learn more. I've seen just 2 movies related, and many innocents were killed during the 19th century. And about the Degree paper, with all my respect, it's just a piece of paper. I have a Teaching degree and I feel like I've learned nothing. Would like to meet someone who could teach me more. THX!!

  • This is not only phisical genocide, but also cultural genocide.

  • hoksila said it all...aho!

  • The Earth will be cleansed by fire. The Earth will be renewed. The land which lives in our hearts with love can never die - but only made new again. The Son of our Father tells me so. Love.

  • Waste weah ! Palamea!

  • when the end comes indins will survive

  • oh yea im lakota and i went to pine ridge

  • Only one way of freedom...vote Russell Means for president of Republic of Lakotah. RUSSELL MEANS FREEDOM.

  • A Degree is just a piece of paper, it doesn't test how much you know. As long as you are together your land will always be here.

  • Everything that young man said is true. nothing more to say, he said everything for everyone with out a voice.

  • all love fom me!!!

  • Brilliant wisdom. The reality of knowing, not predicting or thinking... a very solid standpoint. True Pillars of the future society.

  • so i've been told the same thing from my elders basically what the guy was saying.

  • Heartbreaking....may we have a heart to help.

  • hi, I'm with UpAtdawn. You only have to read a bit of history to realize that what he says is true. All America was Native land, and now Natv pp. are living in a very small piece. And if they have some good land it was by chance , not because they chose where to settle their reservation. My oppinion.

  • You are a fine beautiful woman

  • Lifegivers

    Thank-you my Sister.

  • What an incredible loss. Only William Penn ever had the vision of what America was to be-a strong, unified nation of Natives and newcomers. Greed and ethnic cleansing has left us with a sterile soul and we are only half a nation for it. God intended something totally different. I ask you to forgive us - what ignorance - what a waste. From a white descendant with a grieving heart...

  • You make it sound like the majority of American citizens descend from the original settelers, when only a very tiny fraction of US citizens can trace their lineage back to them. It's not our fault that they live in trailers, and sell cigarettes, they're full of excuses and love to blame the "white man" for all their problems and contribute absolutely nothing to this country. Let them withdraw I say more power to them, they don't pay taxes so they are practically non-citizens already.

  • 1. My mom's side, only two generations. My dad's side goes back to colonial days.

    2. You try having your treaties broken over a thousand times, everything you hold dear taken away, treated like a dog cuz you don't fit the profile and be nearly exterminated. Let's see how quickly we'd bounce back.

Before we came, there was nothing to blame anyone for.

  • 1)If you can honestly trace your roots back to the colonial days, and lets clarify colonial as pre 1775, you are a rare case. if you honestly feel guilt over what a great great x6 someone did so be it.

    2) You act like this has only happened to the Indians, the same thing has happened thousands of time all throughout history and they have all bounced back stronger than ever. So why havent they?

  • Possibly because following 200 years of genocide and ethnic cleansing it hasn't been that long since. It only stopped 150 years ago, not hundreds. Interestingly, when it finally did stop, it was only 65 years later when we condemned the Nazis for wanting to move in to Eastern Europe and take their land, destroying all the original inhabitants. Hypocrites we are.

  • Lol man your arguement is all over the place. First of all your years do not add up, you are talking about so many cultures of people, and being just like the Indians in blaming the "white man". Second of all using the Nazi's as an example is insane. Do you really think they both had an agenda. Do you really think the American goverment was practicing ethnic cleansing against the Indians? what your saying doesnt hold up.

  • Also, since we so generously gave them all the rocks and sand we could find for them to live on, not only is it not surprising they haven't flourished, it's amazing they've survived.

  • Once again rocks and sand? Points for trying to be dramatic but wrong. They were given good land and what did they do with it? Take a look for yourself, I live 10 minutes from a reservation and the place is a fucking dive. Am I and every American to blame for a crime we didnt commit before we were born/even in this country? Its business as usual putting the blame on whites, and bleeding hearts like you only throw gas on the fire.

  • If your ancestors, or you had ever endured what the Native Peoples have had too, then and only then "might" you understand, depending on the state of your heart. I see no one asking you to take the blame for their problems?! You say "they" contribute absolutely nothing to this country?! LOL Wasicu You know not what you speak of.

  • Try 700 brutal years of occupation by the muslims, the suffering of the natives are a thorn in the side of what my ancestors endured.

  • With that statement, contimplate the "differences". I will not comment on what your ancestors endured simply because I do not know and am not educated in such. But what I do know is the History, and the present circumstances in regards to Native peoples here! I think you should show the same respect, and not make cold & unjustly comments such as "they contribute absolutely nothing" Maybe you should think before you speak?Wishing you & yours well. Wopila

  • I know of many Native's who serve in the Military and defend this country with their very lives,......you think that validates as being beneficial to their country?!?! And I am curious, what nationality are you, I know your not Native American or you would not be so ignorant in your remarks. And this is all I have to say. Toksa

  • As a matter of fact that famous picture of american troops planting a flag on Iwo Jima? The soldier closest to the flag planting it was a native. Also did you know that navajo language was used during the second world war to mess up german eavesdropping devices?Or the first ever mobile home-the tipi? This answer is for horrormike btw.

  • it doesnt matter what they offer this country. they were here FIRST if you remember correctly........if you want to get really technical, whites shouldnt be here at all.

  • i live in indiana and ppl at the skool are so racist to every cultrul group i never realied how or even why ppl are like that and the skools sports teams are "the portage INDIANS" isnt it just a couinsidence

  • Yes, well..this country has apparently operated separately from any other culture that was here before it. A great disservice has been done to American Indians, and the time to listen is long, long overdue.

  • And i hate how ppl are stereotypicle they think that all of us are drug addicts and drunks but white ppl drink and do drugs too the only difference is the color of our skin, and when ppl think of use we are a;ways the bad ppl but they dont know the history behind everything

  • You're right, they don't. It's been conveniently kept from us; and it's up to each and every one of us to do our own research and think for ourselves!! Just like this country's politics; the true agenda has been kept from us.

  • Shandon, BTW, I personally have always been fascinated by the American Indians, because we weren't really taught anything about them; they've been a mystery. And I never had a low opinion of them as people. I thought they were a depressed people because of the oppression they suffered under this government.

  • its ok most ppl are hardly tought about different cultures in the world me personaly im 16 years old and know pretty much everything i could possibly learn about my culture and the history behind the land and well why everyone came here

  • That's cool. I hope the Lakota nation becomes strong and properous within themselves. Maybe now they will be able to grow hemp without government interventions. They have just declared themselves free of U.S. treaties. God bless them all!!!

  • iamheuno, isn't it incredible how ignorant the American people have been kept? The plight of the American Indian is never brought up or addressed on TV on major news, EVER! They are our neighbors and we know nothing of their oppression and sorrows! This is a disgrace on this country!

  • don't be ashamed, but try to make a difference

  • Wonderful! I've read "Lame Deer" and "Oglala Women" Where Lakota tradition are described. I was delighted with those books! Native Americans are great nation! I wish them all to keep their traditions and ways of life as their ancestors did. Don't give up!

    Mtakuye Oyasin!

  • one day this country shall fall, only the children from mother earth will survive, for they know how to live from the land and treasure the land...

  • we are all earths children, just some more distant than others...

  • Thank you for this video.

  • I am Irish, my people too were persicuted starved and had our land stolen. Native Americans sent corn and other provisions in 1847 during our Ancesters great hunger. I respect this action very much and thank your ancestors. I hope your people will get justice and peace.

  • Mana Wahine!

  • I love the Native people. They are VERY a BEAUTIFUL people!!!!

  • thumbs up respect to this great lady.

  • How true. White people value a person's degree or materialistic possessions, more than their integrity or character.

  • U.N.I.T.Y. is going to Oklahoma this summer of 2007. Natives from all over the nation will be there with their tribe. Come meet new people, share your culture. Their will be entertainment; food and dances. Their will also be workshops for college and health...Last year UNITY went to Buffalo, NY, and it was fun. Research some more about it. See you there!

  • i wish that just as there is an Organization of American States, they were an Organization of American Indians in wich all the indian peple from patagonia to alaska will be represented and dedicated to the defense of indian rigths and preservation of their cultures, wich is an invaluable heritage of the world.

  • Give the Black Hills and the Lodge of the Bear back to the Lakota, for real and forever. They never ceded that land.

  • Fully agree

  • I am not Native American, or White. However, I have always been a big admirer of the Native American spirit and approach to Life. It's great to still learn more about this beautiful culture. It's also great to see others' interest and appreciation for it.

  • Good stuff, this is the stuff that needs to be put out for better understanding of our people, loved both of the speakers words.

  • I am a white Man,Im Disgusted, ashamed, and embarrassed at what we have done to these wonderful people and their enchanting culture.

  • You have done nothing wrong my friend. It was the governement/military who pushed their evil onto First Nations. Not your fault kola. John Wind

  • Heartbreaking and ironic to think that the white man, determined to exterminate Indians from America only succeeded in making these Indians stronger... These Indians have many things for the white man to learn from... Their laws and way of life is peaceful and admirable.

  • Hold these traditions strong to your heart...

Nice to see after all the heartless massacres that these Indians have been able to persevere.

    peace.

  • this is where im from that's thge exact way we live it's hard a everyday struggle

  • stuff from home is kind of an inspiration as to where I want to go and want to be, some day I'll go home but before I do, there are some things that need to be accomplished for me as a person and as a wyan...I'm proud to say that I am lakota,a survivor, a 7th generation...thanks for a wake up call, i've been dragging for a while and I just neede a boost....thanks...

  • I'm reading LAND OF THE SPOTTED EAGLE by Luther Standing Bear. I'm only on page 33 but already I'm so impressed with his description of Lakota life that I feel they must have been living in Heaven on earth. We are definitely not living the way we are supposed to; our way of life will doom us. Lakota people, whatever you take from our modern culture, please be wise enough to discard the evil, and bring into your own goodness only the things that will make you stronger.

  • I really like this, I am a white man but I feel like there are many things that I and all white people could learn from the wisdom of lakota culture. I am only greived and ashamed of the atrocities and arrogance my ancenters comitted against the lakota and all American Native peoples.
