  • Chevy swap is the cheapest and the easiest swap.

    Nothin to it but to do it. Motor, trans, mounts, harness, radiator if yours wont fit then tune it. That simple !!

  • Actually throwing a v8 into a 180sx 200sx 240sx isnt bad at all the 4cyl that nissan plants in the cars is a heavy and underpowered motor a v8 which can wiegh roughly the same wich more hp is a plus its just like adding a turbo or upgrading the turbo so virtually it all works out the same and your getting more from a v8 swap parts are cheaper ezier to find and there ezier to build

    I could see a SR having an advantage on the race track but a v8 wieghs the same ans is shorter than a RB making it better for the weight distribution.

    The fact of the matter is american cars haven't had a very good suspension setup generally speaking. A s13 with an american v8 will out perform a Camaro or Mustang in strait line or twisties because its lighter and better handling.

  • everyone is entitled to their own opinion but i went for american muscle as that was the whole point of the project. Which is also why i went for carb not fuel injection as i wanted the rawness of a carbed V8.

  • Now if they were running around the same boost, they would produce around the same HP at full throttle and boost but the supercharger would have a greater powerband. Hence the supercharged engine would gain power more quickly and transfer the power to the wheels more quickly. But eventually the turbo does catch up.

    They don't sell a turbo for a 318 unless you have one custom made. Thats why I have mine Super Charged. Its sooo worth it if you have an extra 2000 laying around. The only problem is that its hard to see out the front windshield while driving :)!

I'm sorry but we should all just waste out money on gas and not use the full potential of stoichiometric efficiency that a supercharger or turbocharger provides. No no that would be smart, and it would only nearly double the horsepower that is created. Yup that sounds stupid to me.

  • obvioustly. Why would you need a turbocharger on something with like 420ft-lbs of torque? Turbochargers only produce maximum HP at full boost, and since they need time to spool (turbo lag, from exhaust pressure building up.) The time that the engine is at Maximum output is fairly short. Where as a supercharger is directly connected to the engines crankshaft, so maximum output is always achieved relative to engine speed. The only downside is you need high torque.

    think about it i mean the old cobalt ss supercharged 215hp 205ft-lbs (215hp @ 5900rpm and 205ft0-lbs at 3800rpm) new one with the same engine but a turbo instead makes 260hp and 260ft-lbs (260hp at 5500-6100rpm and 260ft-lbs from 1800rpm-4000rpm)

    and that is just an example it's not that turbo cars have lag as they are much more efficient it's just about putting the right pieces together to make the puzzle without gluing he pieces together

  • really? Because that just sounded like the largest pile of b.s.. Number one, they aren't the same engine, the cobalt SS only comes in a 2.0L where as the NA stock model comes with 2.4L. So the engine size is different to begin with, the turbo model would be .4L bigger. Now are they running the same boost in comparison? If the supercharger is running at 6 psi and the turbo is running at 10-15psi then obviously there will be a difference.

    and even if you don't look at the max numbers because the turbo is running more boost look at the torque and power curves and how early the torque comes in on the turbo and the hp vs torque in the turbo is 1:1 ratio in the supercharged it's 1.05:1 so the supercharger is making 5% less torque per hp than the turbo

    so shut the fuck up

Look at the new Nissan maxima, its uses the same fucking engine and everything as the 2008 but they tuned it different and now it makes 33 more HP and 8 more ft lbs of torque. You are an idiot, you have to compare two of the same year with the same computer otherwise its comparing apples to oranges. You know nothing about cars.

  • Yes you can run the same tune, but from the factory they are tuned different. So your previous statement is incorrect. No shit if you take the turbo, computer and everything of an 08 and put it on an 07 it would make the same power. THE COMPUTER IS WHAT CONTROLS HOW THE CAR PREFORMS!!! It controls, ignition timing, fuel trim, acceleration. Thats why its also called the ENGINE CONTROL UNIT. God, you are obviously in over your head so you are resorting to talking about things you have no grasp on.

  • BTW I was talking about the 2009 Nissan Maxima... Thats why I said the new one is the exact same as the 2008. It has the same redline and everything but the power band and valve timing is different. Since you are a bit slow, Ill let it slide.

  • An LS1 would have been nice, I actually did try to buy a complete engine, loom, ECU and transmission before I brought the chrysler engine. But I live in UK and they are rare over here so it was far too expensive.

  • Nice ride! Im kinda partial to the 4 valve vq45 tho. Too new to have many aftermarket parts tho! hp is about 340 or so I think with the stock vq45. 4 valves versus two and overhead cams!. Hmm I could work with that!
