  • Anyone know the name of the song used for the test shoots? Is that a stock music?

  • What would I get if I wanted to attach this to a tripod? What base plate, etc would I get to do this? Thanks!

  • DIY tripod next plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • anyone selling one of these already made? ;D

  • What is the music at 7:10

  • if i needed u to make me one bro how much wud you charge and also how wud u do the payments cuz im ready to buy now

  • I love you guys!!!!!! You guys are awesome. Keep it up. I try to find the time to watch all your videos I'm planning Tom make the dolly and all the other diy good stuff that you guys have made. Also. I Was wondering if you can make an episode about the program you use and the greatness of it. And maybe do a comparison of another one. Anyways just Keep rockin and more DIY!!!!!

  • I love all your videos and I wish you more success (in Texas soon I guess)

  • Nice Anchorman reference.

  • And next a DIY follow focus!

  • Where do you get the quick release plate?

  • You should use rubberbands instead of paper to drag it, makes a lot smoother motions!

  • "let's give this a little Testi..." hehe

  • Entertaining and Informative as ever! Thanks guys :-)

  • ROFL "stick it it thru the hole, then take the nut on the other side" my brain is dirty today :P

  • Where do you get the music you use in your show ?

  • Can you guys make a DIY follow focus that mounts on the DIY shoulder mount you put together a couple of weeks back? Keep up the awesomeness!

  • CRC silicone based spray lubricant works awesome. It's super cheap, dries quickly and doesn't pickup dirt. I use it for all of my Rubik's cubes. Lasts a long time and doesn't get all over everything.

  • Film Riot Colors!

  • Does anyone know how to make it slide smoother? Ive tried everything. I even used the long strips That he ended up using and it still skits and ruff and loud. Please some one help

  • @ShadowManV3 try to sand the pipes down a bit and than oil it. Don't know if it's going to work but you won't lose nothing by trying ;)

  • "Kessler has good slider prices" Mom, can I please borrow $700? :)

  • I don't know why, but I found myself laughing through this video.

  • Make a follow Focus!

  • Ok. new challenge: build an inexpensive jib that can mount onto a standard tripod. it would be even cooler if you could make it where the head has a tilt AND pan ability, but anything you could make would be AWESOME!

  • So then you only need 2 T joints not 4.

  • Can you guys please PLEASE do a falling effect tutorial. like how sora falls in the beginning of kingdom hearts or when Harry falls off his broom in Prisoner Of Azkaban?

  • is it possible to mount this to a tripod?

  • It would be nice to make it tripod-mountable! :)

  • TEACH US TO MAKE A FOLLOW FOCUS!!!!! PLEASE LIKE SO HE CAN SEE!!!!!!1

  • *Look at prices of Kessler Sliders* Hey Dad, can you take me to Lowe's and Walmart!

  • wouldn't a better idea be attaching 4 T-joints to a cover plate instead a pvc pipe extenders?

  • i just finished!!!!!

  • anyone from Germany who knows a shop, where i can get this stuff?

  • hi Ryan can you make a DIY camera crane

  • @asaferTV he already did

  • Also, it probably wouldn't have caught while sliding (as much, if at all) if you didn't paint the metal pipe.

  • This would have been a lot easier to see what you're doing if you would have painted it afterwards. The black makes it hard to see how you bent whatever in the box. Just saying.

  • So gay I can never find all the stuff to buy from england

  • How long did you make it?

  • I would really like to see a DIY follow focus.. :)

  • "skews, nuts" haha

  • Why did you guys need the PVC pipe? Filmriot ROCKS by the way.

  • Don't forget the DIY follow focus. Please make it like the authentic gear...

  • How about one that has a motor like the one Phillip Bloom uses? He is able to have his dslr move at specific tempos which he uses a lot for time lapse shots.

  • Haha, stick it through the hole.

  • screeeews, nutttttssssss xD

  • Silicon spray would work quite well as a lubricant for the slider.

  • were can we buy a cover plate

  • good thing i have a short friend and two dogs one with a humongous dick;)

  • the Close up shots on how you build\drill etc.. are TOO GODDAMN FAST!

Please slow down a bit or Show more of the close ups on the build instead of your pretty face so we could actually see whats going on..and that your hard work making this tutorial will be worth it!

    thanks a lot.

  • You should've mentioned "machine screws." If some one got 'wood' screws they'd be 'screwed' :)

  • A good substituite for the cloth is using a black Ribbon like material like on teddy bear ties and stuff.

  • I LOVE YOU RYAN AND JOSH :D Man Whats the song at 7:10

  • hey i made it...... its cool hhahhhahhahaah you should to

  • Do a crane next :)

  • @AdMoFilms they already did

  • @MrThebasketballfreak Oh yeah sorry I forgot about that.

  • Hey Ryan a great addition to this series would be a DIY cable cam

thanks and keep up the good work!

  • Ryan, Stick to film making. If you want plans for a nothing short of amazing slider that you can build for $50 from Home Depot get me. I have pro sliders, I use this one because it is fully adjustable and so easy to use in tight areas. Plus it is smooth as glass...

  • Really cool Ryan, but it's hard to see some of what you're doing when the parts are already painted black

  • this was uploaded on my birthday. im 18. thumbs up for adulthood!

  • Money VS Laziness. I have no money and I'm lazy, I don't even have one :-(

  • Dear FilmRiot,

Could you guys maybe make a playlist with all your DIY tutorials. Not just because I am lazy but I might miss one or two. Much appreciated!

Thumbs up so Ryan can see!!

  • LOL, dude hear this 0:19

  • Why not attach a pull cord to the plate to pull the slider? Should work/look better than the rags.

  • Lol... a little teste

  • what lense where you using during the test shots?

  • looks like you got the color code idea from a kessler

  • where do u get the quick release plate with holes?

  • #SoLongVampires

  • slap some lube on that sider

  • Okay you guys did a little montage one time that was like a parody of the social network rowing scene kind of. for like your 2 year anniversary, I can't remember what it was for but I can't find it anywhere could you or someone link me if they find it?

  • You could have recorded some sound... it'll be interested to see how much noise this DIY slider makes.

  • You guys are funny and helpful. Thanks

  • hey ry, does the srpay paint on the tracks make it any less smooth ? thanksss

  • the song is: cooking in sunshine - cotton club ;)

  • 2:11 CAT!!!

  • Why were you using a Pentax and not the 5D?

  • @croftywho So he could film himself with the 5D.

  • Use teflon spray on the slider. Makes it slick like a baby's bottom and it doesn't drip afterwards.

  • Follow focus, please!

  • Can you show us how to make a motorised slider for time-lapse?

  • Great stuff thanks for sharing. just a suggestion.... Please when showing some of the technical stuff how about a Zoom on it and maybe a slow motion half step. For instance you BLEW by the joints that slide on the pipes. I realize you are so comfortable and familiar but the audience is not. I would use my tripod dolly, but I am sure your Slider would be slick for table tops and uneven floors. Thanks again for sharing

    Regards

    Netcommercial

  • thats what she said at 2:33

  • close ur eyes and listen at 2:30 - 2:39

  • @santinowilliams44 nice XD

  • or you could glue felt to the bottom

  • You could line the inside of the t-joint section with felt, that way it would slide smoothly over the conduit and if the felt filled all the empty space it would stop any knocking and make a smoother slide

  • you guys should make a diy head mount

  • make a pistol grip

  • was that a dog at 2:12?

  • What's the name of the song you play under "*Test shots"??

  • Can you talk about stunt wires in movies pleas :)

  • What camera did you use at the end for the test, looked like a fujifilm, what model?

  • Nice! ^_^

  • i'm totally going to do this for my fiance's valentines gift X3 he makes videos,so he will like this a lot. thanks!!!

  • Are you filming & living in the rainforest?

  • On Kessler's sack

  • IM MAKING IT TODAY WOOOOOOOO!!!

  • Ryan can you do more camcorder reviews PLEASE!! Like on the panasonic af100?

  • awww i don't have an elf and two dogs with a combined total of 9 legs :(

  • @Argarsad just get a male and female dog and BAM, 9 legs

  • Darth Maul!

  • Hey Film Riot, I'm from the UK and for some reason the self same parts are a lot more expensive... I'm talking from under $10 (£6.32) to make these to over $100 (£68) not including paint! Would there be any chance of you maybe producing some of these for us outside the UK to purchase off of your website, eBay or Amazon? Your UK Subscribers would really love it! Thanks :)

  • btw you said you moved to Texas , but you're shooting on your previous location ? I mean the pool and everything..hows that come ?

  • @NicolasHorcrux because it hasn't happened yet?....

  • Where can I get music like yours in test shoots? It's great! ;-)

  • lol he said screw and nut in the same sentence ..

  • Comment removed

  • Okay Ryan, sit down it's time we talk :p No seriously I just want to say that the whole DIY-making thing is cool but you guys should go back to "standard" film riot episodes :)

  • logo

  • have u thought about revisiting previous builds like the dolly, crane & stedicam you built? with the new knowledge you have gained recently? Ry

  • 6:53 that's actually how i look like when my friends disturb my explanation and they will just keep quiet ..

  • Creepy test shots are creepy..... Moms hide your daughters!... serious.

  • Indy mogul has such an easier tutorial

  • 12-15 dollars max? more like 36 dollars

  • DIY your MoM!!

  • wow the host dude has the same voice in the opening lolz

  • WHATS THE SONG YOU USE IN THE TEST SHOTS?

  • anybody else saw the dog ??? Like ! :)

  • I love the music you play in all your test shots :D

  • These DIY's are awesome! But what if we don't have $50 to spend on a quick release plate?

  • I've found if you use the "felt" side of a velcro pack and stick it inside the pvc it works as well as the shop towels. Then just use a rubber band to pull along the track so you don't get any jerky motion. I bought some strips at 99c store and they worked great.

  • Lol I dare someone to start a production company that only uses DIY gear.

  • i been doing this @kockgunner

  • @kockgunner Its ON! Lol

  • @kockgunner lol, ill take you up on that :)

  • @kockgunner its called kids that make movies

  • @kockgunner Challenge Accepted.

  • @GamerzUndead Barney Stinson

  • @kockgunner I already do that

  • @kockgunner Challenge Accepted...I will be uploading our first video soon. Stay tuned.

  • Comment removed

  • @kockgunner I'm too cheap to buy real gear and to lazy to build it so my productions usually involve putting a camera on a skateboard and pushing it

  • @kockgunner im up for it, besides the camera

  • Great job guys ,but please dont stray off the filming aspect please......

  • DIY follow focus.

  • kesslercrane dollies are overpriced as hell

  • CLICK TO 7:10 TO HEAR COOL/AWESOME MUSIC!!!!

  • this is vid no.222 of them, wow nice how to

  • 4:43 - Towels are always extremely useful...

  • you really need to be wearing safety glasses when you build these.

  • HAHA! $800.00 for a real slider?! Fuck that shit. Ryan, you are less internet-YouTube-film guru, and more wallet savior....god bless you

  • Have you done any weight testing on this rig? strictly for DSLRs or do you think it would hold 7-12lbs?

  • @RichDenmark if you have a 7-12lb dslr i guess you can afford a decent slider?? just a leetle thought really far back in my mind :P

  • you dont use the pvc???

  • Please tell me the song you use every time with test shot!

  • OMG YOU HAVE 222 VIDEOS!!!!

  • B and H has probably lost 100k in revenue because of your DIY videos. However, home depot stocks have increased 2%.

  • do you ahve a dog ?!? 2:11

  • Lmao....and this is the episode where the sponsors, tell Ryan "hey wtf are you doing,we need customers?!"

  • How about making/adjusting the slider to use skateboard wheels to glide on and across the slider instead of the pipe and towel?

  • 666 likes, 6 dislikes. Wooooo

  • Nice but if legs were taller you can put a handle right under camera and push from side to side instead of rags. But for 10 bucks it is awesome.

  • my eyes kept being drawn to the awesome swimming pool in the corner at round 4:08.

  • @eskimosam9 and the one in the centre at 7:28

  • Hey Ryan! You are talking so fast,

  • This is golden Ryan, golden!

  • quick release = 37 bucks

  • Use slick paint normally used for snow plow blades and use sliders for chair legs inside the pipes.

  • you can also use bearings as wheels in stead of the rags

  • You guys should try pulling the slider with a thick piece of elastic. It should absorb all the bumps and shakes, and create a nice smooth start/end to the slide.

  • $800 for a kessler ? .............. no thanks

  • I doun't give a DAMN how it looks like. It should just work as best as is could

  • one day my parents are gonna walk in on one of the results videos and be like "oh shit he's gay :("

  • hehe....nuts
