You guys are amazing at staying in character!

  • When signing books in Union Sq., he kind of sounds like Gilbert Gottfried, who played Iago in "Alladin". Haha

  • 3:34 "He looks a lot better after the funeral…" hahaha.

  • Reservoir Chekov

  • "You missed my play, oh no, you kill me, you kill me," lol he is already dead XD

  • Thats totally Reggie Watts at 1:50.... youtube has officially taken over the world

At least he lead an eventful and happy life, I suppose.

  • @Synergy9k what the hell are you talking about?? :))))

that Anton Chekov isn't real you know :)) it's just another prank :))

  • @sandoval15 I know he isn't Anton Chekhov. Agent Wimpy, the guy who starred in this prank, passed away.

  • @Synergy9k wtf? D":

  • Heyyyy, Veronica, howyadoin'?

  • @Bobaklives he was taken to the afterlife too early

  • @Bobaklives a.k.a agent wimpy. RIP

  • @Bobaklives OMG he died?!?! how?

  • @Bobaklives awww :( he seems like a cool dude from all the videos..he was taken too early :(

  • I just heard the guy who's playing Chekov in this vid passed away today. :(

    Rest in peace, Agent Wimpy.

  • @tammipuu whaaaaaat?? he's like, my favorite!

  • @tammipuu

what?!!no way,he couldnt.he brings too much joy to the world...why he have to go so fast?he still look healthy in these vids...

  • I love it how they bumped into Reggie Watts (at 2:00-ish) AND Normal Bob Smith (in the mission description on their site, not in the vid...) on the same day and at least one of the two fell for it hook and sinker :D

  • Oh my god. This is hilarious. I wish my old English teacher were still at my school, because he taught our class The Cherry Orchard and I think he'd love this whole mission.

I think the bad Russian accent just makes it all the better.

Props to you all. Pure brilliance.

  • I love Reggie Watts at 2:00.

  • "You get subways and they make you feel badddd then people think you are deeeaaaadddd" =P

  • All hail beardguy. Love the silly little guy, spotting him in the video's is like an easy version of Waldo :)

  • i hear the production on the intro song thanks

  • Vorst chekov impression, EVAR! Wery funny though.

  • I think this is the only Chekov impression ever.

  • His voice reminds me of that comedian Gilbert Gottfried

  • imagine if a russian guy walks over and hits him...hahah

  • chekov wasn't an author by profession. He was actually a doctor who wrote in his spare time

  • this guy cannot do a russian accent

  • Aye, it sounds more like an italian accent if anything

  • Who knew talking parrot from Aladdin was really this guy?!

  • @XvBiBleMaNvX LOL!

  • i think i am one of the few americans who knows chekov and his stories

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck you.

Theres my two word refutation for you. lol

Must we know everything to be thought of as anything less than idiots?

I have never heard of this guy before, so what?

  • I don't see how now knowing who he is some how lowers anyone intelligence, but if you want to think your all high and mighty for knowing who he is and use my profile as a weapon.

    Fuck you too.

You don't know me, and looking at your "profile" (who are you quoting btw?) you must know nothing, because there is nothing in yours.

So you know nothing about anything.

  • Just relax. Remember what this group is all about, happiness :)

  • Iago!! <3 xD

  • Haha! It's Gilbert Godfried!

  • "he looks much better after the funeral." haha.

  • Thats what I was thinking!

  • Haha, the voice. Hilarious.

  • I love how he looks NOTHING like Chekov

  • LMAO never thought I'd get to see him one day. One of my favourite authors. Chekhov FTW!!

  • he sounds like gilbert godfried

  • Das what I thought!

  • Ha ha ha!

  • Reservoir DOGS.....helll Yeaaa

  • i like the music they play on the street. awesome!

  • I love you. xDD

  • I read the Seagull in my senior year of high school so I could use a monologue for a university drama audition...it's become one of my favorite plays since, this is AWESOME.

  • i wonder if any of those people realize that he is actually dead? Kinda makes you think what people are reading in school doesn't it?

  • There are a lot of other plays, not to mention other kinds of literature, so although he was a great author it's not that weird for people to not know Chekov. If it was Shakespeare then we'd have a problem.

  • I agree with you that their are lots of plays and differnt kinds of literature. But Chekov, is one of the major writers. And the guy was at B@ Noble booksellers.. No one knew that he wasn't alive... In a big city? Maybe in a small town, but not a big city..

  • I love how just the one guy at the end knows...some humour is lost on all but a few. ;)

  • This is awesome.

  • Anton Chehov?? Random much? It's like a litmus test for the city.

  • probably the wittiest thing I've seen in a long time xDD I love you guys. ImprovEverywhere forever!

  • lol anton chekhov... thats so random

  • he sounds like gilbert godfried when he talks

  • spelling is Антон Павлович Чехов

And I think he would speak russian...

  • What's the song in the beginning of the vid? Can someone please tell me? I'd appreciate it.

  • "Little Green Bag" by the George Baker Selection

  • Did you see Reggie Watts at 1:51?

  • he sounds like gilbert gottfried lol

  • omg he totally does XD

  • what song is it ?

  • This is actually pretty funny because I'll bet that most of those people were questioning their logic wondering, "Wait, isn't he dead? Huh...maybe not..."

  • thats the same guy that did millionaire... right?

  • yeah it is

  • It's it Anton Chekhov? :S

  • no his real name is john or something who was on who wants to be am illion air

  • Hahaha, nono, i know it's not really him! He's been dead for a while now. I meant isn't the spelling "Chekhov"

  • there is also Pavlov conditioned dog...

  • thats the guy from the millionaire one

  • what did they do with the money?

  • considering it was only 2 bucks, that's probably how much they spent on each book.

  • O! M! G! EPIC!

  • This is awesome. Great commentary on the illiteracy of the general population.

People who comment saying "wtf this is layme idont even know whoo this clown IS!" are a perfect example of that illiteracy. Way to make their point, guys.

  • I have to wonder if the commentary they were going for was something more politically complex than that. Most of the ImprovEverywhere skits I've seen appear to be adding something whimsical and unexpected to everyday life to keep the "general population" on its toes, rather than looking down a proverbial nose at it or commenting on cultural illiteracy. That's just my impression, anyhow.

  • comedy's the only thing alive in new york anymore.

  • just proves that some people will drool over anyone if told they are famous, even if they have no clue who they are

  • Yeah, but you know people are going to go home and google him. THEN they'll get a real laugh.

  • he looks pretty good for a guy thats been dead for a hundred years lol.

  • He sounds like Gilbert Gottfried.

  • "you kill me you kill me" hahahahah theres a bit of irony for ya

  • This video proves a suspicion that I've long had. That no one at Barnes and Noble ever reads, or knows anything about anything.

Any reader knows that Chekhov never an American citizen--and never had a New York accent, and oh yeah--LONG DEAD!

  • this video is dumb

  • you could have done the same thing but instead of Chekov do Karl Marx LOL :D

  • lol ya or like...leo tolstoy

  • that street band is amazing:).

  • he sounds like gilbert gottfried

  • who is anton chekhov anyways?

  • No that is Anton LeVay. Anton Chekhov was a Russian playwright.

  • LaVey not Checkov

  • You spelled Chekhov wrong, it's spelled "Chekhov".

  • actually it's Чехов :P

  • lol just goes to show people will still line up to meet someone they think is famous...cause if they knew who he was they'd also know he's dead

  • ehhhh

  • does anyone have any info about the band playing in the background?

  • LOL

  • Actually he died in May 1904.

  • aha "you kill me! you kill me!"

  • "he looks much better after the funeral"

  • hahahahahyhqah

  • lol-- he died in 1958!

  • love the last comment , not as funny as the rest though

  • xD o-o;, union station? i live near there! o-o x]

  • haha jet lag... from DC... bs

  • LMAO

  • "he looks much better after the funeral"

...ummm wouldnt that still mean that hes dead. its sounded like the guys didnt just realize what he had said

  • That guy was just joking. Basically he was saying he knew that the guy playing Anton was just an actor.

  • u retard

    lol

  • wow how did they fall for that at BOOK STORE!!!!!!

  • He was in the Best Buy episode as well.

  • hes in alot of episodes

  • He looks more like Tolstoy.

  • oh lol

  • By posting a senseless comment

  • Really? Because if you look at the replies, my conclusion was right all along. GOOD JOB!

  • Yer awesome, Flower!!!

  • He sounds like that parrot in Aladin

  • OMG YOUR RIGHT!!

  • lol

  • OMG

we learned about this in my non traditional arts class

    awsome!

  • Haha, some guy bought a book because he thought that when Chekhov dies, his signature will be worth lots of money. That's true, too bad the signature is fake.

  • Funny, but you should try it again with someone who can really fake the russian accent.

  • at 2:03 tere is a guy with a skateboard in the backround

  • my sister read that book.... its sad how no one knows he should be dead!

  • I am fairly sure they know...

  • Is that musician Reggie Watts around 1:51? That guy looks a bit like him and his attire also happens to be quite musician-like

  • "he still looks austere." - is that reggie watts??

  • Huh, I just noticed your post. If you think that's reggie watts and I thought the guy might be reggie watts without having read your comment, then it must be reggie watts, at least someone who looks awfully a lot like him!
