@Sumacpipecarver well technically it's not an upgrade, because I didn't upgrade anything. I built this bike up from frame up. Race face evolve ss crankset, bb7 disc brakes, inexpensive wheels and tires (big mistake to skimp on the wheelsets), and some parts laying around in the garage.
You get more tired quicker on a rigid MTB i think if I'm correct because all the shock has to be absorbed by your body (arms and legs) acting as suspension therefore taking all your energy out of you whereas with a hardtail or full susp, they have shocks to absorb some of the impact therefore putting lessof a strain on your body
@MovieMad007 No you get more tired on a full suspension because the shock absorbs energy, shocks will be a hinder on flat surfaces and rather than all your energy driving forward with a rigid, it would be sucked up with suspension, pedaling efficiency is lost your bobbing up and down
wicked trail i wish we had trails like that here. im usually pedaling my brains out hes not even trying on that trail its smooth coasting the whole time nice trail.

@timtam006 for mtb-ing, i've ridden hardtail, rigid, and full suspension. All three are fun regardless, but riding rigid and ss always puts a big grin on my face.
Ive been thinking of getting the Monocog. Every review I read about it people say they like the bike but that its weight is an issue. What are your thoughts?
@lazmorph I like the bike personally. I built it up myself from frame up. I have raceface evolve crankset, surly SS cog (19t), avid BB7, voodoo zombie fork, cheap wheelset from pricepoint. I'm not a racer so weight is not my concern. I think its a bit heavy if you will be racing it, if not then it shouldn't be a problem. Regardless, sometimes I still pass people on full suspension geared bikes on climbs. If anything, I would get a better wheelsets to shave some weight.
@lazmorph I love mine. It's a 2004 model with 26" wheels and it's the funnest bike I've owned. I have a Paul hub laced to an old Mavic X717 up front and a modified Redline 925 flip flop road hub laced to a Rhynolite on the back, Race Face riser bars and bashguard, an old Control Tech stem, Cane Creek headset and Eggbeaters. I live in the Pac NW, and I absolutely pass people on full suspension all the time.....especially in the tight, technical areas. It's great in the mud.
Fully rigid..nice!

Did I mention I'm the 3rd owner of this particular frame? Absolutely bulletproof!
