Yes, it's apart of the artist's life. If you've heard "Spinning" from their sophomore album "The Glass Passenger" or "Made For Each Other/You Can Breathe" from "Everything In Transit" you'd see the clues that he was definitely into some hard drugs.

I understand that "The Glass Passenger" deals mainly with Andy's cancer, but what I also understand is the meaning of "spinning," it's a term that most drug users use when they're talking about "coming down" from a high. It's usually used when referring to a hardcore drug, such as meth, heroin, and coke. Not a term a normal pot user would throw out there. And if you actually listen to the words of "Made For Each Other" you can clearly see the hidden meaning of drugs.

um, good a cappella includes vocal parts that imitate the original instrumentation. i'm not saying they should actually have a keyboard and drums, but someone should be singing and beatboxing.

some a cappella yes, however there are multiple ways to do it properly, someone beatboxing behind this would sound like shit, and having something at intricate as the piano line in this song would be to distracting (though i haven't heard the original in awhile so thats me assuming it like any other of andrew's songs). Slow songs are often done differently than fast songs too. Look into style a bit. Your points are right, but not neccisarily valid for this song.

nobody did the backing tracks, it's apparently all him. from what i heard, he composed it all and recorded it while he was going through chemotherapy. he was so weak he could only record about 15 seconds a day, according to the person who told me about it. it's an amazing arrangement and his voice is always awesome to listen to, but knowing that he did this while he was going through something so draining makes it that much more stunning...
