@Castaril You said it. That's the whole problem. We are in a general sense different mentally, but we are also very adaptable. In Norway where I come from, we have the most equal society on earth. Still, women choose feminine work like healthcare(doctors and nurse) and men choose masculine work in the engineering/industry, in a higher degree than other countries.

We are different, but for no better or worse all in all.

@rhov233 - Feminists differ as much in their opinions of biology as the rest of society. Personally I've never met any feminist who thought there are absolutely no biological or psychological differences between men and women. Most feminists simply disagree with the notion that there are jobs inherently only for men or only for women or that people shouldn't be allowed to go into fields traditionally deemed for the other sex.

@83Damascus I agree.The problem as I think I clearly mentioned is that when the choice is there, in an equal society as my example Norway, men and women still choose "traditional" fields.Simply because that is what they wish to do regardless.We have different expectations to ourselves and others.And it is as much biology as society that makes a difference on the outcome.The only problem is indirect. Healthcare jobs in Norway are less paid than private sector.Engineers are more needed than nurses

@83Damascus Free in theory, in practice cushy jobs are reserved for women. nursing fair enough but you'll find there are large amounts of male nurses. Teaching certainly is cushy relatively speaking (particularly in early childcare, dominated by women) in comparison to dangerous, dirty, high pressure and low paid jobs. Affirmative action is the property of women. This is bigotry disguised as social conscience.

@MRAGreatestHits - As somone whose grandmother was a nurse and whose father was a teacher for several years those jobs are NOT cushy. Being a nurse is VERY dirty (you have to wipe people's asses, clean up their vomit and shit, help them piss, clean their body, clean their bed, etc.). Teachers are fired all the time and teachers are under a lot of stress from students, parents and administrations, even good teachers who get complaints for no good reason.You have no idea what you're talking about.

@MRAGreatestHits - Also, there is a high incidents of nurses being physically assaulted on the job by disgruntled or antisocial patients. Several patients threw their food trays at my grandmother throughout her career and two men punched her in the face for not allowing them to leave on the day they wanted. In most cases the patients will not get in trouble for doing so other than being scolded.

Of the many videos of Nellie McKay singing this song, titled The Pearl, this is probably her best, and altho the video quality is not the best color-wise and resolution-wise, the audio is first rate, with a tiny lavalier microphone wrapped around the house microphone right at her lips picking it all up.

Regrettably, when she does her dance break my video misses her slight lifting of her skirt hem, a humorous gesture mocking the typical flash of thigh in American culture.
