  • sick!!! what program do you use to cut song???

  • @Darwiin94 For this video I cut the samples in Audacity and loop them in Audiomulch.

  • @lllatomlll Which program do you recommend for an aspiring mashup artist like me, Ableton or Audiomulch?

  • @HandelMcmandle Ableton.

  • how do u convert songs to WAV files

  • @hanes1297 Most of the time I would open an MP3 in a WAV editor such as Audacity. At this point you can save the file in a WAV format.

  • You CAN pre-load these loops, right? Because that seems so tedious to do live.

  • @Pulse120 definitely. no idea why i made this video as i would never do this in real life. pre-loaded loops for sure.

  • @lllatomlll haha well, would you recommend buying this/using this for live performances, or do you think I'm better off sticking to virtual DJ/samples and such?

  • @Pulse120 I spent a year using Audiomulch and had a lot of fun with it. It's worth purchasing, but right now I would recommend Ableton Live over Audiomulch. I like Audiomulch because it is simple, but for the same reason it lacks desired features that made me switch.

  • @lllatomlll That's actually really good to know. Do you know of any sites/video series that make picking up ableton live easier? I've been wanting to use it but didn't really want to learn new software.

  • @Pulse120 YouTube is completely littered with Ableton tutorials. It will take you some time to sift through them. The Ableton website has some videos too.

  • how do i make audiomulch plays Mp3 ?

  • @Valock audiomulch does not support the mp3 format

  • have u created any full length mashups that are posted online somewhere?

  • holy crap, that's very nice. this looks like extremely tedious work though. manually recreating a loop player AND routing to audio out? Can't you copy paste one module with the same output? I guess it does not matter anyhow since both of us use Ableton but just out of curiosity, this seems so backwards in terms of usability lol.

  • @Hakaori Oh dude this isn't practical at all. I would never do this live because it's so tedius. I guess I was trying to show the "simplicity" of creating something on the fly. Not a real situation though.

  • @Hakaori You can copy and paste contraptions and if you hold shift or control it drags both outputs out at the same time.

  • @mcveagh78 oh i didn't know it copies the connectors to the output. i must be doing it wrong. gotta check that out. thanks for the tip.

  • i love how u mashed all these things up yo! ill shits for real! :) cant wait to hear more yo! peace!

  • This is both awesome and inspiring.

  • what do the numbers refer to next to the songs you have listed in Textedit?

  • @ImPrettyCoolMyself They are the bar length for the sample. At one point I thought it would be a good idea to make a note of everything but...it's kind of pointless cause these numbers get ingrained in your head after a bit.

  • I'm on a mac too. I've always been searching for something to chop loops in. I've used ReCycle, Live, and Audacity. All of them are capable, but I haven't found anything I really like. What do you use?

  • @gorbitronalpha I've settled on using Amadeus Pro. I tried several different applications but found this one to be the best for my workflow. I like being able to use my multi touch trackpad and scrub playback.

  • so all the stuff you're throwing in is pre-chopped, right?

  • @gorbitronalpha yeah exactly all my samples are pre cut to be looped. It's just a matter if triggering them.

  • does this software allow you to cut out instrumentals and acapellas from songs?

  • I don't think so. I bet with some plugins you might be able to achieve this but not out of the box.

  • You did some pretty good mixing, but clipping was an issue throughout (at least it appeared to be). Of course, with all those different samples playing all at once, it is sort of expected.

You should upload all those samples through a torrent. That would be cool.

  • yeah AM clips a lot of my tracks. you know for some reason i feel like AM adds a few db. its much louder coming out of AM than it is through an external player. I'm workin on it though...everything on youtube here are just to see what people think. I'm running most of these tracks through some plugins now to clean up the sound.

I like the torrent idea...but not yet. i want to make sure the tracks are listenable as you were getting at :)

thanks for the feedback..i like it!

  • @lllatomlll Yeah. It did not sound like it was clipping heavily or anything, so I assumed you did something like that. Really good job at that.

And if you could, hit me up if you make a torrent. You have a MASSIVE sample collection there (from the looks of it) and I think that a lot of people would appreciate it if you uploaded them.

  • Omg, so you can just change muted samples on the fly, and audiomulch keeps on playing them without freezing up or any glitches? Really love your tutorials, thnx again.

  • yes everything stays in time and all you have to do is press mute/unmute. pretty simple!

  • Bugger me senseless i love this program, am playing a set next week with it. Loving your mashup mate.

  • Hey nice work.

Just a question, how do you save these to play later on like a wav file? I would like to be able to listen to my mash's without having to actually unmute loops while playing it. Thanks

  • thanks. If you double click on the sound out contraption it will bring up the recorder.

  • thanks.

  • how you fix any latency with the mute buttons. I feel like when i click it theres a delay, do i need to just get used to it?

  • the samples start at the beginning of the next bar. it's working as designed and if the samples are cut right it shouldn't sound too bad for your instrumentals. acapellas can be another story if it's in the middle of a verse. you do get use to it..and i think a lot of other applications like ableton work in a similar fashion as well. it just makes sure that everything starts on the same beat.

  • your awesome, how long have u been doing this?

  • I'm not sure...off and on for about a year or so?

  • Very good workflow. Go on....

  • Thanks. I don't normally do this workflow because it takes too long and the samples loop too much. I just wanted to give another perspective. I still recommed loading all your samples up beforehand.

  • This is sick!!!

  • Thanks buddy. Props for that owl city sample. Really love when the heavy version comes in. Lots of energy

  • this is dope!
