  • hii

can i use this wilth out controlers as i dont have them i hav vurtral dj??

  • this program is so shit, traktor or serato is the way to go, failing that, use cd's gives a closer 'vinyl' feel but yo dont get waveform which is often handy

  • CHOCOLATE!

  • how much does all that cost? and nice vid

  • download this software?

  • In what way does using that technology enhance the tuntablig experience and the p.c software......... my bad? Why not just use virtual software and a MAC / pc and hook up tha sound lead to tha system. No need for the CDJs - redundant.

  • hi jonathan , i have a question for you , as im a beginner i would like to know about buying equipments , i thought of buying a pair of pioneer cdj 400 and djm 400 mixer, , coz instruments are expensive and i cannot afford to pay a huge amount on new arrivals or the industry standars like cdj800 or cdj1000 mk3,so wat u reckon and what is your thought about cdj 400. thanks, suhas

  • help with cdj Pioneer 600... also i dont have a labtop

  • do all the functiions on the cdj's work in pc mode?

  • Hey ellaskins, what would be a pretty good but affortable turntables package with the mixer and two truntables? i live in the usa btw

  • Can you use the effects on the CDJ 400 WIth the DJS sotware?

  • Does Djs only work with the djm-400 mixer or with other one.... I have cdj-400 but not djm-400 ?? thx

  • That pc software sucks.. Also it looks cheap and boring.. Gogo serato

  • Do yo have to purchase the software or the whole package. as far as i know serato is good but you have to pay like 300-500 for the whole thing.

  • Could this work using a different software like virtual DJ ?

  • yes

  • @djordj08 yea pioneer cdj 400 works good on virtual dj

  • @djordj08

yes it does but there are some problems with audio settings and external mixers

  • so falto os samples

  • DJS is awful. I'm surprised your using it. It's soo limited. I'd recommend Deckadance which allows you to drag your music directly from itunes into your mixer while your mixing and is totally compatible with almost any mixing hardware out there. It's the best program out there.

  • VDJ (Virtual DJ)

  • that pioneer DJS is s*** ... the 400's are brill :D

  • what the pros and cons of the pioneer mixer

  • good system :)

    no burning cds anymore :P

  • Get Serato and use your cdjs it is much better.

  • do you need to have 2 usb ports or more on your pc to make this work?

  • I can't use the effects (bubble / trans/ wah) from CDJ 400 when i use USB-PC mode.

  • Hey man, u have some great videos!! Thanks 4 takin the time to explain!! sometimes im a dumby with these things... was wondering if u can import full folders full of mp3s into the DJS ?? I also seem to have a problem with the songs i imported from my external hard drive, they are suddenly showing up in grey(not with a lock nxt 2 dem) and i cant play them! any input from anyone wud be appreciated! :)

  • ofcourse you can:)

  • hi, can anyone please please tell me how i can connect a djm 400 to a computer?

please respond if you know, send me a message please!!!

    thanks

  • You can't connect the DJM-400 to a computer. You connect the two CDJ-400's to the computer via usb and the CDJ's will act as a soundcard. When you load tracks on the computer to the turntable, the CDJ will output the songs you loaded on each turntable to the RCA or DigiOUT of the turntable and those go into your mixer.

  • traktor is better

  • i didnt like it traktor is better

  • i didin´t like it its like a virtual Dj....

u can mix in your pc now...

well that realy sux because if u r a real dj you mix in the mixer and stuff...

  • Only the Pioneer CDJS 400 work work with this programm right? So I can't use my Pioneer CDJS 800 with it or?

  • i just got Djs ..Can u record mixes using Djs?.. Please help

  • lol CHOCOLATE!

  • Does Djs work on mac laptops ??

    Someone plz reply quickly :D

  • yes, works fine.

  • Hey, do you know if you can use the DJS with CDJ 200's? Thanks in advance.

  • does anyone know for sure if the djs software works with a mac ?

  • Yes, my mac works fine with it. :)

  • how did you get it to work? bootcamp?

  • Just pioneer drivers... and the djs software...

    why? you have problems?

  • One question, because I´m gonna buy 1 CDJ 400 and also DJ S software. Can I use the CDJ 400 like single timecode? And must i download some drivers for cdj 400 or it comes with it? And if i must download the drivers, can i download it from Pioneers site?

  • bice vid

  • I have used this exact set up for about 1 month now. I must say that the DJS programme raises the value of the CDJ400's immeasurably. Like the higher priced CDJ1000's, you now get a proper wave form. You also get a VERY accurate bpm counter, which means less time is spent actually beat matching. You also get a great way to store and pull up tracks, so you don't have to be fumbling around with loads of cd's.

I am extremely happy with this set up.

  • I have spoken about the good, so it is only fair to list the bad as well. This program gives you a VERY VERY accurate beat matching function. I know I said that was a good aspect before, however, the bpm counter is so good, that it is almost too easy beat match, and tracks require very little correction once brought in. While this is good for mixing perfection, it does take a little wind out of my sails. Every now and then I shut the program off and mix using cd's to to be sure that I still can.

  • does that progroam have a switch thing from pc mode and regular mode such as if im at a party DJing and some one gives me a cd and they say play track 4 and i have the pc connected can i switch that really quick to play my request?

  • Yes, and it is fairly instant.

  • thanks

  • loooool chocolate:)

  • please help me my mic dont work on my djm 400 at home it work on it at the guitar center but not at home . im using a component set for my sound source please tell me whats wrong

  • Using a laptop to Dj is just asking for trouble, is it not? i mean how many times have you had a CDJ1000 crash out and stop all sound? now how many times have you had a laptop crash as it sits doing nothing on your desk? lol, imagine the chance of it crashing when your asking it to do all that!

  • do you have to connect both CDJ400s to the laptop?

  • I was just browsing ATB's myspace and within his US tour, he uses CDJ-400 along with probably ableton live, so I am starting to consider that CDJ-400 will eventually replace the industry standard 1000MK3 decks, as it has way more features and are lighter in weight.

  • Hey Mista Ellaskins i have viewed tons of your video but this video of yours its sounds very confusing serato scratch live does it all without all that confusion. and its more efficient try out serato agains thanks for all your great videos on youtube you are on top of the chart

  • Can you use more then one cdj ?

  • Yes, you can map 2 CDJ's as he explained in the vid. Then you assing channel 1 deck to physical left deck, and channel 2 deck to physical right deck. Latency is very smooth on 1.30 firwmare.

  • what kind of speakers are those?they look cool.

  • DJM-400 mixer REALLY COOL

  • J more videos on pc & hardware DJin!

  • Is this not exactly the same thing as Serato? I mean, you control music off your PC using either TTs or CDJs.

  • dose dat work 4 the CDJ800 mk2 r jst the CDJ400

  • as far as i9 know just the 400's

  • @danny1566 Only CDJ400 with DJS.

  • Hay Thats great, bin wandering is there a pcdj kit that can be used with Numark CDX's?

  • ooh yeah...........

  • Is there a chance that the people from Pioneer will come out with a MAC version od PCDJ??

I work with MAC and have the 400's, but it's a drag not be able to do just exactly that shown in this video with a MAC...sorta frustrating...

  • Firstly, PCDJ is run by a company called Digital 1, not Pioneer. Their software is PCDJ Reflex, PCDJ Dex or PCDJ VJ - none of which run on Mac OS. There is a Mac version of Reflex planned though.

  • there is no point to do this kind of program for cdj

it's useless it's not difficult to burn cd

  • It's FAR from useless. DJing from a computer has many advantages.

You're not using up countless CDs to burn tracks, you can find tracks almost instantly, you can see the track waveforms and cue points on screen, the computer can add effects that are not on your CD players, you can create playlist for specific jobs, you can automatically save your set lists.....

  • I cant wait for bpm :D

I doubt ill come and say practice and n joy though lol, Im a little shy boy really :)

    lol plus DJs sucks imo

  • OK, I've got a question: Do you have to use DJS software or other DJ software on your PC? Can you just use your PC without the software? I am speaking strictly of accessing the music library on you PC and not the hardware control options.

  • You have to use DJ software if you're using a computer in this way.

If you don't want to use software, but do want access to songs on your hard drive, there are lots of players that will allow you to connect a hard drive to them.

  • I have a load of music which i currently listen to in itunes.... Is there any quick way of loading all the tunes into Pioneer DJS. DJS will only allow a song to be entered 1 file at a time or a .m3u playlist itunes wont let me create a .m3u playlist any ideas Its wrecking my head.

  • Most DJ software that I've tried has the option import files or directories. If DJS doesn't allow this, it would surprise me!

But then again, it is from Pioneer...

  • the purpose of this is to show you can use songs from a usb source why go to all this hassle why not use a memory stick or ipod

  • to HendersonDJ, so your at a gig and on line , you get asked for a track, you can then download and drag n drop and use the toon via the cd player. Also quite a few people do not have a vast colection of CD's, so now they get to use reall dj kit with the music off the PC. j j

  • i know where your coming from but there is a browser on the cdj

  • I enjoy your videos and everything mate jist feel this one is a little too much hassle for something quite simple

  • good video j, will u do a video on how to set the hole thing up? is there a seperate soundcard for this system such as virtual vinyl or final scratch?

  • I think those decks are the best value on the market.

  • nop..... they the 400's... 1000's are better.. alot is

  • that's only your oppinion.I don't agree because these player offers a lot more than the 1000.not saying that is better but it's very close regarding it's target!

  • I share the same oppinion as you.you don't anything more than these

  • nice, but one question comes into my mind:

what is the advantage of using this software? you can play music out of the computer, ok, but with the cdjs you already can do this via usb-stick and the controller is the cdj in both situations - it seems that the software can't do any more than the cdj400 can do already...

  • He stated if you have a lot of music on your computer, it's a good way to use the hardware in conjunction with the laptop to scroll through your tracks, which is a better display.

You also see the wav format and peaks on the monitor.

In the next video, I'm sure he'll present other functions the deck offers when combined with a PC

  • Thats a really good point- unless you need the other effects or carry more than a USB sticks worth of music it does seem a bit of a pointless video. Apologies again for saying that;).

  • buy a rane serato scratch live, or m audio torq, same thing but works with all cdj's and turntables. costs about 300$. Yo ellaskins , how about some technicalities, witch laptop.settings, speed, faults....a real demo.thanks

  • Now I use Virtual DJ Software and a Hercules DJ Console RMX All-in-one controller. This is actually the same, but I have to use CDs via my PC. But still, this console is about 1500 euros cheaper. :]

  • no scratch (ssl) box?

  • Do you see any Serato?

  • to DJBreaker90, Question for you, If it was " Garbage" then why would they sell it or even bother to make it. As i have always said a good DJ should only use the BPM decector/ read out as a guide. A true DJ will mix by using there ears. j

  • Due to realising there was a market for it, and noticing that the competition was doing well sell software.

    Why else?

    ;P

  • I agree, the Bpm on traktor scratch, or any beat detector, is no match for my ears! ;) Traktor and serato are expensive, add to the cost of the CDjs, a mixer, and a laptop and that serious cash, I don't know but maybe the Pioneer software is cheaper, Jonathan, is it?

  • It is? Ok thanks for the tip, ill try Traktor. Again thanks :)

  • CHOCOLATE!

  • Basshunter has some good shit, but they always have their BPM's around the 140 range which makes hard sometimes for mixing with other dance tracks

  • traktorDJ more stable.. than this program.. thanks.. mate!!! big respect!

  • u got some basshunter loaded up, nice (deck b)

  • you should do a vid on how to hook it all up

  • I like the functionality between the cdj-400 and a pc. But Pioneer really needs to hire some better UI designers. I'd much rather use Serato - Its UI is much cleaner and better designed.

  • yeh i agree that the ui looks erm well....not good. But the point is that the cdj-400 works best with the DJS. I have traktor and although they link up, the red jog wheel doesnt move when you play tracks, all the lights turn off and it makes one of the best looking decks on the market look boring. I would rather have a boring interface than a boring player personally.

  • hey jonathan,

would it be better to get cdj 800s and djm 800mixer or the 400s you have now?

  • That's not as simple as it sounds. The 400's have usb built in, you just connect them to your PC, on the other hand cdj 800's and 1000's don't feature USB, you'd require time coded cd´s and external sound card to manipulate software. I do not know if DJS support such thing.

  • Oh, and the Dmix 600 has on board effects. The mixer supposedly ships October 15, 2008.

  • Wait till the Cortex Dmix 600 comes out! $500 U.S.. No need for a computer. All you need is an ipod or some sort of external hard drive.

  • Try Decka Dance, its my favorite computer Dj. Its only computer though, no vinyl only the Dj program. Decka dance is real easy to use. Even though the mouse is your main control, they made it very easy to use! Check it out Jonathan

  • V good vid.

So now you can use lap top as storage for all your music, or as back up.

  • None, and you can also do this with Serato Scratch LIVE.

  • where di mt comment go to

  • Cool PCDJ
