@MrFreerunner247 Brisbane is very slow pace, and its socially about 15 years behind Sydney, which is a good thing, Its still advance in other terms. I'm a sydneysider, and i love brisbane, if i didn't have family and friends here, i'd move to Brisbane because the pace and cheaper, but the only thing, Brisbane doesn't have beaches, which sux, Sydney's biggest advantage over every other Oz city, is the fact that the metro is on beaches, there are over 40 major beaches along the sydney metro.

@77Tonyz Queensland is the sunshine state of Australia. I live in Brisbane myself. There's no need to diss out QLD, it has beautiful beaches, sunshine coast is absolutely gorgeous and the Great Barrier Reef is amazing. Australia has one of the most amazing climates in the world and no where else is like it. Brisbane has a fantastic show of fireworks at Riverfire which happens no where else. It also has the Royal Exhibition (ekka). You can have your own opinion, but keep it to yourself.

I live in the U.S. and I'm interviewing for a job that's based in downtown Brisbane. I wouldn't want to live right in the city though. Can you give any suggestions of nice neighborhoods (apartment/flat for now) on the edge of town but still connected to public transportation?
@redherringbone Red Hill, Paddington, Herston, Teneriffe, New Farm, Ashgrove, West End, Hill End, Wilston, Newmarket, Kelvin Grove (as long as it was off the main road quite a bit), Alderley (some nice pockets), Bowen Hills (again, off the main road by *quite* a bit), Spring Hill... that's about all I can think of, off the top of my head.
As long as you're near the train line, or a major bus network, you should be fine.

I like Brisbane too, I lived there for a while and still visit every few years because I have family there. Only criticism I have is that it's getting crowded - to me Brisbane was never about big crowds (other than the Ekka!). These days there are always more cars on the road, house and land sizes smaller etc. I guess when you visit every few years you notice changes a lot more than seeing it slowly unfold day to day. I hope it doesn't turn into a Sydney or Melbourne though. Otherwise, love it!
I thank all the wonderful people and their lovely comments about Brisbane. I've lived here all my life and wouldn't live in any other city, especially Sydney or Melbourne. I'm glad that people from all countries appreciate this wonderful city. It has it's faults like any other city but the people and the places make up for it's shortcomings. I live in Brisbane. It's quite nice. It has it's ups and downs. Like never being able to get direct flights internationally without going through Sydney.
I miss there so much.. I lived in Brissy for about a year and wanted to live forever. but it wasn't easy for students from overseas like me to get permanent residency.. and I think it's getting tougher every year. Australia is so blessed country. Aussies are lucky!!
The worst thing about brisbane right now is the amount of road works. Well I'm not sure what there doing, but you cant look in any direction without seeing a crane or something, pretty much. I still love it though, these are all real nice pics.
yeh at the moment brisbane looks like shit, i agree. But there making the city soooooo awesome i think. through brissie they are making a tunnel that goes under the whole city including the river and they are making airport roads and hundreds of bus lanes. they are looking at trams and they are trying to make briisie the only city in the world travelled by public transport manking traveling easier, cheaper and so it has less of an impact on earth.... i cant wait.... hope this random reply helped

It may seem nice. But some ppl in Australia are real jerks. When I was at college last year my friend walked up to this 12 year old and smashed him with a bat. Also this other guy at work almost killed this new zealand guy. It may look beautiful because of the climate but England wins it for me. It's about the people. No offence.

None of the photos in this video are even a remotely realistic representation of what the city actually is. It's backed up with traffic, it's dirty, the river is the colour of green mud, there is inadequate pedestrian space almost everywhere, the streets signs and one way and three lane layouts are entirely confusing, it's dangerous at night, there are too many traffic lights.
Every major city has traffic; if you were even slightly educated on traffic engineering you'd realise that Main Roads is actually one of the best at what they do. You find the roads confusing? Then it's probably because you're an idiot.
Brisbane is dangerous at night time? That is complete bullshit. Inadequate pedestrian space? Ha...haha... is that a joke?
I love Brisbane. I love the climate. I find it clean, extremely liveable, and whilst I won't be here for much longer, it will always be home.

Visited Brisbane (1989...20 years ago *to-day!*) and LOVED it! Met some *very* enchanting gals there...and had my 1st state of VEGEMITE...and LOVED it!

I live in Brisbane. It's quite nice. It has it's ups and downs. Like never being able to get direct flights internationally without going through Sydney.

I miss there so much.. I lived in Brissy for about a year and wanted to live forever. but it wasn't easy for students from overseas like me to get permanent residency.. and I think it's getting tougher every year. Australia is so blessed country. Aussies are lucky!!

The worst thing about brisbane right now is the amount of road works. Well I'm not sure what there doing, but you cant look in any direction without seeing a crane or something, pretty much. I still love it though, these are all real nice pics.

yeh at the moment brisbane looks like shit, i agree. But there making the city soooooo awesome i think. through brissie they are making a tunnel that goes under the whole city including the river and they are making airport roads and hundreds of bus lanes. they are looking at trams and they are trying to make briisie the only city in the world travelled by public transport manking traveling easier, cheaper and so it has less of an impact on earth.... i cant wait.... hope this random reply helped

It may seem nice. But some ppl in Australia are real jerks. When I was at college last year my friend walked up to this 12 year old and smashed him with a bat. Also this other guy at work almost killed this new zealand guy. It may look beautiful because of the climate but England wins it for me. It's about the people. No offence.

None of the photos in this video are even a remotely realistic representation of what the city actually is. It's backed up with traffic, it's dirty, the river is the colour of green mud, there is inadequate pedestrian space almost everywhere, the streets signs and one way and three lane layouts are entirely confusing, it's dangerous at night, there are too many traffic lights.

Every major city has traffic; if you were even slightly educated on traffic engineering you'd realise that Main Roads is actually one of the best at what they do. You find the roads confusing? Then it's probably because you're an idiot.

I love Brisbane. I love the climate. I find it clean, extremely liveable, and whilst I won't be here for much longer, it will always be home.
If you hate it so much, then fuck off. It's your life, no one is forcing you to be here. I'm sick of lazy whingers who complain about everything but don't have the balls to do anything about it.

I never said I hated it. If you read my post I was pointing out that the video is not an accurate reflection of Brisbane.
And I'm sorry, but Brisbane really is a model of clusterfuck central planning. The streets frankly are confusing, especially if you don't drive frequently through them.

@TheTopBloke You obviously have some gripe about Brisbane. I've lived here for over 30 years and find it a great place to live and most people who visit here think it is great too. Sure we have some problems (like Anna Bligh but she won't be here forever) but then so does everywhere else. Why don't you just leave if you hate the place so much?

To all those critizing Brisbane, you are very stupide! One of my class mates is from Brisbane, Australia and I,personly, think Brisbane is very beutiful! If you think Brisbane is stupide, you certinly have issues beyond tretment or therapy! I pity you!
