i have damon braces! got them a week ago and feeling fine now :)

they only hurt the first day, and it hurt to chew a couple days after that but i can chew now and its only been a week! and i have appts every 8 weeks

The type of braces I have are the SPEED braces. That's how you spell it, look it up online if you don't believe me. They're basically the same as Damon braces, but instead of being square they're a bit rounder where the 'doors' close. So far I've had them on for 25 months (2 years and 1 month)

@xY0uPwnx Not all braces. Some still use the traditional braces. You can ask your ortho about the Damon Braces though. I really wanted "Invisalign" but, I had to get the Damon Braces because of my specific case.

But another question i was wondering is, how much do they cost? Now I know your going to say it depends of what your situation and how bad your teeth are. But like in your situation just the braces itself whats the range??thx for answering :D

@xY0uPwnx :) The cost of mine was a bit higher than average since my teeth were far from straight and I had a 90% overbite. My Damon Braces cost $9000 itself and an additonal $10,000 for 3 surgeries to fix the overbite and smile. But if your teeth are not that bad unlike me, the Damon braces would probably cost around $4000-8000. :) And yes, I prefer the Damon Braces than the Traditional braces.

@sparklefun455 I cannot open my silver brackets but the front clear one i can open them with a finger nail but it hurts once you close it because it makes the wire tight again.

@Blairthekittykat Damon braces cost the same as ordinary brace, actually. I have them, and we went to two different orthodontics, and they cost exactly the same. Actually cheaper because with tradition braces i would have had to get multiple surgeries, etc. With damon I didn't.

@TheCicipizzaman the color in the braces are on the elastics, so I guess you wont get any color with the Damon system but you can get it with the traditional :) I have traditionals and my elastics are violet :)

@EbzLovesOreos In "most" cases you won't need extractions. It doesn't say "all" cases. Maybe you have overcrowding like me. If you need teeth extractions, I think you're just better off not getting the damon system and going with traditional braces. Maybe the damon system is more expensive and you're technically getting ripped off if your ortho still wants you to get teeth extractions.

With my tratment. No teeth had to be pulled and so far I am happy with my results. Also, I know people who got teeth pulled before they got their braces and their smiles dont seemas wide as they could be. Of course,this probably isnt the case for everyone,but I like the fact that I get to keep all of my teeth.

I have these and payed 5600. I have never had traditional braces so I cant really conpare them, but I have noticed that they look muuuuuuch better than most braces I have seen. My mouth was verrrrry crowded by my teeth and when visiting other orthos who do the traditional braces, I was told I would need to get 1-2 teeth pulled. When I went in for my Damons, I was told that they TRY not to pull any teeth and in most cases they do not have to. I am 17 months in now and almost finished

@emelyrosemesa she has had them for 6 months and they havent moved her teeth at all, and her wax is very good, and when she had traditional she saw results within the first 3 weeks and hasnt within 6 months of the Damon system her parents are already thinking of going back to traditional + sometimes when she eats, her door things open and close and trap food and catch her lips, she is in extreme pain, you wouldnt understand because you dont know her

BS!!! My friend had to get teeth pulled and it cost more than traditional! And she hates them because; 1: no colours 2:she said they hurt like hell 3: the wax doesn't stick properly so her lips were very cut up! She got traditional for a while and they looked good on her, but her parents wanted to go faster so they got these and she doesn't look as good, and with traditional she only had a year and a half, with Damon she now has 2 years!! Damon is a load of crap!! I'm getting traditional! Stupi

@sparklefun455 You need a special tool to open the sliding door, but if it opens itself you just have to close it with your fingers. I didn't happen to me during my treatment, it is not that easy to open.

@JBiebIsMyFreakinIdol Nop, you can't, because it doesn't use rubber bands to hold the wire. Those colour rubber bands cause more friction, wich means more pain and a slower treatment. And you have to change all of them in every visit.....But they're smaller, and look better even without colours

@JBiebIsMyFreakinIdol Sometimes people with Damon still need the power chain elastics and typically they will use clear rubber bands but i'm sure you could get colored ones. One thing that Damon clear is trying to get at is that the front 6 teeth are clear, those getting Damon don't want colors. Damon targets mostly adults and image-conscience teens.

I don't even know what type I have.. I'm pretty sure damon because one of the orthodontists told me that she was having troubles putting my colored bands on because I have "little doors" on the brackets

@fashionbug9880 Damon doesn't use colour bands, it doesn't use rubber bands to hold the wire. Just ask your orthondontist and he'll tell you what type you have. The differences beetwen systems are not that big.

@LilMakeUp That's because you wanted colours, and they have put colours, but those rubber bands are useless, since the system doesn't use rubber bands to hold the wire. It is just time that you lose changing the rubber bands, but if you like how it looks, it's great.

@Brooklynn2016 Do you have a protruding mouth....if you don't be very wary of getting them pulled cuz it could cause a caved in or dished in appearance. I have a very protruding mouth so I can get teeth extracted with no problem...and why 5 teeth why not just 4???

@dissidia123456789 idk if i have a protruding mouth, but i had 2 teeth on each the bottom and top then another on the top that i eventually lost before sugery. then had a adult tooth pulled up with a chain instead of getting it extracted. so idk?
