Hmm. I wonder what cheesy, unoriginal contemporary sitcom the likes of what's-his-name, Justin Beaver(?) is gonna croon for some poor teenie bopper in homage to this. :-/
Is it weird that I find him attractive in this and I'm 16 years old? I watch the Brady bunch and a lot of old stuff lol and listen to the good stuff like this :)
I can't listen to this song w/o crying. I feel like a part of my childhood has died. I've been a Monkees fan since I was 3 watching reruns from '69 on. I've seen them in concert 3 times, and saw Davy open for Rick Springfield 2 years ago, (sadly came in the middle of his act, 'cos we were late). I couldn't even watch his tribute on Me-TV today, (although I taped it), 'cos I thought I'd break down. Good-bye, Davy. RIP...you were loved, you are missed. :o(
I was very sad to hear about Davy's passing. You could tell that he was a nice guy which is the way he came across on TV, and that's how he was in person from what I keep reading about him. I grew up watching The Monkees, and I still enjoy seeing them on reruns. Of course, The Brady Bunch episode with Davy on it is a favorite for most people because he sings the song "Girl" on there, and it's such a great song, and it's just a classic! Thanks for sharing this song with us Davy! RIP.
I used to have the biggest crush on him. I also remember seeing him on the brady bunch...oh i was so mad to see Marcia kiss him. So badly i wished i could have been Marcia! <3 Rest in Peace....
I can think of nothing I'd like more than 2 be around people who understand exactly HOW SAD I'm feeling-Youd think now that a few days have passed would hurt a bit less-NOT EVEN CLOSE
If anyone finds themselves driving thru NJ I'm only 1 MILE off the Garden State Parkway if you want to share the ride with a fellow "Davy Lover", maybe listen to Monkees music all the way to New York?
Cant even imagine the emotions of a day/event like this :(
this is a classic episode in which Davy Jones stars in Brady Bunch, this was one of my favorite shows growing up, they don't have good shows like this anymore. Great show one of my all time favorites
While most of my friends were into Nsync & backstreet boys, I was watching reruns of their sitcoms and listening to their Vinyls. Although I didn't grow up in the 1960's , they sure made me feel like I was part of it. I regret not going to their show last summer at the Greek theater. R.i.p. Mr. Wonderful Davy Jones.
Rest in peace Davey Jones. The world has lost another true talent from a golden era in popular music that was bright and melodic and hopeful and will never come again.
It's impossible for me to watch this video without smiling- he really did seem so happy. I was fortunate to meet him in 2004, and he was such a nice guy. The music world has really lost a gem- may he rest in peace.
Another of my heros gone. Davey you are and always will be my first ever crush. I was only a small girl when I first clapped eyes on the Monkees. And even now at 43 I can say that you were THE FIRST. May you rest in peace.
love the high tech equipment tape machines.alot of people really remember davy from being on the brady bunch this one time sure made alot of impact.rest in peace david.
RIP Davy. I had the honour to meet (well see you) in about 1968/9 in Carnaby Street shopping at "I was Lord Kitchener's Valet". We'd all just bought some crap Kaftans! A lovely nice friendly bloke who I will miss greatly. Davy you did good.
Mod watch, guilty though mine was clear ;-) Avocado green, did they have a sale on that colour or what? Wall phone with party line (some nights great entertainment listening in!) Big crushes back then were Davy Jones and Jack Wild, two dynamic, adorable englishmen! Heaven needed an angel Davy, you were the chosen one.
I'm a 90's kid. I "discovered" the Monkees based on the Brady Bunch episodes. With that being said every youtube video I see of Davy Jones and the Monkee's even the videos when they are older and not in their teens or twenty's anymore...He just seems so happy and optimistic. He seemed so innocent. Jones seemed to love being a "Monkee". He remained a believer.
I was so jealous of Marcia Brady getting to meet Davy Jones. He was a big part of my teen years and I had a major crush on him. God Bless you Davy, Rest in Peace

@AREALJERSEYGIRL Very touching, especially considering even when I was 3 and constantly assaulted with his music, I never liked Elvis and still don't. This is another matter. I always liked the Monkees, and I have learned to love other bands from the 60s that I wasn't that familiar with in the last 5 years. Wish this music wasn't just relegated to oldies stations!
@Multi80schick -That is the reason I go on YOUTUBE for 5 MINUTES & look up and 5 hours are gone. Yes I think Davy Jones knew he was LOVED by MANY and I also feel he lived his life to the fullest every day. I still will shed my tears and I hope the angels will allow him to sing for them as he did for us!!
@ninantn2 -- Reading all these posts it's no wonder our fingers are flying away on our keyboards--We're so 'THE SAME" :)
Don't want to hear "he was just a man" or "look at bright side etc." -I'm so damn sad and don't know when that will end
The ONLY thing that makes me feel a teeny bit of "relief" is that David's death didnt BRING ON this attention. All he had to do was read the internet or look out into the sold out crowds of screaming fans. Not bad for 66. HE KNEW WE LOVED HIM!
In honor of Davy's untimely passing, we will be airing this episode Friday, 3/2 at 5p and 5:30p ET. Go to insp.com and click on the Find INSP on TV link to see if INSP is available in your area. Our thoughts and prayers continue for Davy's family and friends. This is a huge loss to the world of music and television!
Yardley of London ... Twiggy ... Sonny & pre-Greg-Allman-and-cosmetic surgery Cher ... playing Monkees 45's on my little mini record player in the back yard in Buffalo, NY and dancing with my stringy hair parted on the side ... my neon yellow plastic "mod" wrist watch with roman numerals ... shiny white lipstick which brought out the yellow in my teeth... the Brady Bunch and Davy Jones. Fishnet stockings and go-go boots. When any of them die, so does a part of me. RIP Davy. :o(
Man o man looking at this is just like it was just yesterday when I watched this and I was so so in love with Davy Jones. I remember thinking how lucky Marcia was to be in the same room with him. My heart ached when I heard of his passing. RIP Davy and thank you for reminding us all of how wholesome life was back then. XOX
I know this is hard for you people to believe, but people have different taste in music, just like some people would rather have nasty mcdonalds than a home cooked meal. Doesn't make them an invalid, just different. I'm sure all the popular musicians/ "artists" from this generation will be remembered in their passing and you will probably have to explain who they were and how they impacted the industry to the kids in that generation that listen to whatever god-awful music is popular then.
@californiaspinnaker So, what you are really saying is that you were on cocaine when you posted your message. Get some help and manners while you are at it.
that's what I was thinking. seriously. it had to be cocaine. he was relatively young. and recently got a got a clean bill of health from his doctor. and he suddenly has a heart attack? sure seems fishy.
@californiaspinnaker It killed John Alec Entwistle at 57 in 2002 in Las Vegas, just before the Who were going to tour. I have to say it, Davy Jones you're another idiot! Who takes cocaine at the age of 66 years old!?!?
will be missed.. yes the justin beiber of the 70's..cute cute cute.. was in a major crush with him... yesterday, yesteryear life simple and wonderful memorises.. rip davy
Just had a physical that showed his heart in great condition. He probably had a stress test and not a coronary calcium scan; a VAP cholesterol test; and Carotid Artery Scan. All recommended by CNN Medical Spokesman Dr. Sonja Gupta who had all three done, and his cardiologist said after these tests you are pretty much guaranteed heart attack free for the next seven years.
Google: "Dr. Sanjay Gupta Reports: The Last Heart Attack" for the free streaming sixty minute video shown on CNN
Ok whether you're 10 or 70, you aren't American if you haven't seen this episode! It's a slice of timeless Americana that we all can identify with! Davy Jones was an icon for many generations, not just the 1960s folk.

@justcallmeassinine allah , is nothing but the moon god! means he created nothing ..you will findout after death ,, only then it will be late......seek Jesus while you still can ...
Oh my sweet Davy Jones is gone.Everyone knows "Sleepy Jean" was his song !
I just seen him with my husband in Deadwood, SD 2010 and he was moving on the stage as a kid again. He was so full of energy and tireless.
When are they going to make looking for Coronary Heart Veins part of a physical?? We are way past the time to do the study..cause my husband who was with me at Davy's concert died January 6, 2011 of a massive heart attack at 62. Clogged vein on the outside of the heart! No warning!
I only know Davy Jones from this episode of the Brady Bunch, may he rest in Peace! BTW does anyone know who played his manager, the guy who speaks with Marcia at the end? He looks SO familiar? Was he the guy in the Nat'l Lampoon Vacation movies?
@dirongustafson interesting because I was explaining to my son today, that this was our Bieber in the early 70s (even though I was so young then). In fact I showed this to my son just last month. so sad
everyones forgeting Donny Osmond as a teen idol of the early 70's and late 60's.

Trying to explain to my 12 year old son why I am absolutely devastated. Not ready to have my idols and crushes die.

Davy Jones dead from Cocaine !!!
californiaspinnaker 4 days ago
@californiaspinnaker So, what you are really saying is that you were on cocaine when you posted your message. Get some help and manners while you are at it.
MyGuitarman188 4 days ago
@californiaspinnaker
that's what I was thinking. seriously. it had to be cocaine. he was relatively young. and recently got a got a clean bill of health from his doctor. and he suddenly has a heart attack? sure seems fishy.
cciemail 4 days ago
@californiaspinnaker It killed John Alec Entwistle at 57 in 2002 in Las Vegas, just before the Who were going to tour. I have to say it, Davy Jones you're another idiot! Who takes cocaine at the age of 66 years old!?!?

Charlie1964Rapture 4 days ago

Was he the guy in the Nat'l Lampoon Vacation movies?
nsgutube 4 days ago
@nsgutube
No, he wasn't in "Vacation". The actor who plays the manager is Britt Leach.
