Got two silkies myself yesterday, they are awesome. one of them I think is a rooster because of how friendly it is, but We'll wait and see

It's a red silkie, they're a recognized color variant. His momma or daddy just had some latent red pigment genes, that's all.

So what did he turn out to be? I am guessing a red silkie - which a friend of mine wants. Partridge silkies have patterns like little chipmunks.

This is not a naturally colored chick she must of hatched it and brought it to an Indian person to get it dyed. The process of dying chicks is cruel please help put an end to this.

i dont think its a silkie maybe its because of the lamp but the beak was the wrong color silkies have blue beaks and skin from birth and that ones beak looked abit tanish

@klaire8904 oh you can tell before they are grown.. roo's are more apt to chirp, and are much more active than hens.. they are also more apt to be running around and getting into trouble.. i've raised several silky's and other types of chickens from chick.
