Fixed would mean that some shady dealings are going on back stage involving people from outside the sport attempting to persuade a result.

There's no outside influences advising someone to take a dive for a backhander.

The fact is the guys are paid to act out a match with a predetermined storyline. So they give all they have for the time alloted in order to tell a story that has a result that is part of the story.
