it's not a competitive industry. It's very collusive, and the government gets to regulate it because they rely on the property of the people in order to make their living (e.g. running cable under people's backyards and under city streets).

When these companies behave in a way that is detrimental to us as consumers (e.g. raising prices without cause, cutting service, undermining FCC regulations, lying to US senators, etc) , they owe us a goddamn explanation.

it's not a competitive industry. It's very collusive, and the government gets to regulate it because they rely on the property of the people in order to make their living (e.g. running cable under people's backyards and under city streets).

Furthermore, property law is much more complex than simply saying "you put a cable under the ground you must pay me for it". It will be regulated just like everything is regulated, but they don't (and shouldn't) be telling companies that rate hikes are ridiculous and must be governmentally controlled.
