katara's hair loopies, momo's cuteness, iroh chubby cheerful attitude and zuko's noticeable scar, zhoa's sidburns and aang looking like a 12 year old is all need
i think its gonna be a good movie but i honestly dont expect them to add all the episodes. if (wait i dont know how to spell her name) its like toph or something hahh if she diesnt eventually show up in the second/third movie IMA CRY :'(
You know what? at first I was soooooooo MAD at the fact that minorities are not being representeed in this film, WHICH SHOULD have happened, Yes Katara & Sokka should have been darker and zuko should have been pale. But you know wat???for this movie its not gonna happen! so lets just be happy they are even making a movie and GO WATCH IT! And then after that FIGHT SOME MORE so that FOR THE NEXT MOVIE THEY WILL CHANGE THE CHARACTERS!! capesehe!
It is just a movie to a lot of people. For people of color who rarely see themselves depicted on screen, The Avatar cartoon was always a breath of fresh air. To know that the film version will not honor this aspect of the cartoon, is kind of a bummer. And kind of a big deal actually if you are a member of a group that is rarely represented, and then was 'whitewashed' out of a film.
about Toph...there no trailers with her in them, so does this in fact mean that there will be more than just 1 ' The Last Airbender' movie? because without Toph, Aang would have never learned earthbending...and Azula, May not appear? How would this movie work without Azula...
The only thing that ticks me off just a little bit (and ticked off is a loose term, not "racebending" ticked) that the Kyoshi warriors have little paint on them. It just seems so easy.
I totally agree! people seriously need to shut up and stop forming opinions over things they either did or did not see in the trailers. Even in the series he doesn't even look that Asian, ya i understand that he is a monk but in the series they don't put labels on people of the different nations. Never once in the entire series has anybody ever said anything about Aang being Asian and if im not mistaken the movie is based on the series riight?
Okay, I'm not a Racebender or anything, but I just realized something while watching old episodes concerning races...
If Zuko and the rest of the Fire Nation is Indian, and the Earth Kingdom is Asian, how are Zuko and Iroh going to disguise themselves as refugees in Ba Sing Se in book 2 (Earth)? The Earthbenders would definitely notice. Shymalan did say he was making it a trilogy...I wonder how he'll pull it off.
This was So Funny. Yeah I know the changes will be differnt and i wont like that But thank you For helping me deal with them :) Thanks a bunch^.^ for helping me deal and learn to accept these differences. 5 STARS video :D So funny (and true)
this is THE best avatar movie disclaimer video ever. not only does it express exactly what i'm trying to tell my friends, but it also has some awesome inside jokes. you are very witty, and you make me smile like joo dee. XD
Okay, this was hilarious. I'm probably still going to be overcritical because I love the show the way it and don't want ANYTHING to change, even hairstyles and the colour of clothing. But I'll try to loosen up a tiny bit, at least.
Thank fricken GOD someoen has a brain... I am so sick of the bitching about a damn movie that has not come out yet... theonly thing I do not like so far is well yeah Katara is to pale for me pretty girl she lives on ise so she might get a tan going through the journey lol but Aang, Noah is a beautiful boy I like him for Aagn but Aang was lighter witha childish voice and smiles ALOT. itwill be odd seeing a more serious one. LOL
my only opinion is that they should've made dav's eye look like a black eye. The way i'd make his scar is put purple/pink around the whole eye and more pale around the ear, also if u notice the cartoon of zuko had only one eyebrow. just my opinion :-)
Dude you are awesome! u just made my day:) i tell people all the time that its no big deal! but theyre just like "blah blah blah!" and im like....."just shut up!" :) im a huuuge! fan of this show by the way!!!:D
This movie is going to flop, I think. The story might have been kept in tact, but you need more than the basic outline - you need the substance. The cultures are wrong, the martial arts are wrong, they did away with the writing and a lot of the East Asian influences already. I could care less about the cast, except that it's not faithful to the original source. All the work and research the creators put into the TV show was tossed out the window.
@Oukro LLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL! You're a fucking idiot dude, there are interview with M. Night and the creators of the show. He has full on discussions with them about it. His daughter got him into the show, he's been a huge fan of the show since the second season.
Seriously, do your research before you try to call someone out on something. You sound retarded.
If you want to believe that being able to have discussions about the show with other people makes m. night shyamalan the most awesome director/biggest avatar fan in the whole entire world then go ahead. Not like you needed my permission to have moronic opinions with failed logic to back them up anyway.
@Oukro There's also some blog type things where people have a sit down talk with M. Night. They point out how big of a fan he is. This isn't a direct quote, but I read something very similar to this sentence: "He's a very big fan of the show, during our discussion he would pick episodes, name their titles, and begin to go into detail about them." Again, not a direct quote, but it more of less said the same thing.
If you've "done your research" what proof do you have that he's no a fan?
I'm saying that he most definately is not the "biggest fan" of the show.
I'm not saying that i'm the biggest fan either, because that would be stupid of me.
I guess I was just frustrated with all of the people who've been claiming that m.night knows everything there is to know about Avatar, there's no way this movie will be disappointing cause it's m. night, etc. So I appologize for my original comment about him not knowing anything.
I appologized for that comment at the bottom of my last response to that, smart one.
Fine, he's a big fan of the show. I'm just saying there are so many people that take it to the point of ~obsession~, and m. night can't even compare to those people...to be honest, those people creepy me out.
so he's probably one of the biggest fans who can actually be sane about liking avatar, haha.
people who tell you you're overreacting were never that big of a fan of the show.
or they don't understand how someone could feel so strongly about...
racism in casting, disregard of asian culture, lack of credit to the original creators, complete destruction/renovation of all the characters' personalities, or disregard for the overall design of the show, its plot, and its characters.
The casting choices were kind of ridiculous. I'm not saying they need to look exactly like the characters in the animated cartoon (that would be impossible) but I mean, they don't even have a slight resemblance to the characters at all (except for the kid playing Aang).
The next time an entire race of people in a big budget American movie is changed, you let me know. This is the equivalent to the new movie, "Thor" where all Asgardians are changed to let's say Blacks, yet realistically only one God is changed and there is already so much public outcry. Idris Elba will be playing Heimdall, a Norse God. Also this kind of cultural exploitation goes on way too much in favor of Whites being able to play anyone, yet people of color are relegated to VERY specific roles
so you know your wrong its going to be 3 movies based on the cartoon so think of it as the last airbender book 1 book 2 and book 3 so first is all water second is all earth and you guessed it third is all fire
LMAO, I love your video, it's so funny and helps me accept the movie a little bit more cuz it's all true. I'm gonna do what I always do when something i like is made into a movie, I'll check it out first then make my judgment. If its a good movie I'll even watch it again to replace the poor fan who boycotted the movie because he/she couldn't let go of the changes they know are coming up in the movies. I hated the cast for Twilight, but guess what, it was a good movie, at least New Moon was.
the reason that racial details matter is because the characters and their race in the orignal cartoon were representative for asian/brown kids looking for a presence (as in LEADS) in american cartoons. to change that in the movie version is to take something away from kids and for fans of the series, more so since the show was on so recently. it's like casting a white guy to play shaft, wait... shaft is bad example, how boung martin luther king. yeah. something like that.
the people complaining on this page have no concept of real life or what the process of movie making involves. So what if Katara and Sokka are whiter then you would like? TheyreEskimos! should we only hire Eskimo actors? how many Eskimo actors do you know?
@MegaStarbelly Actually, it is easy to find actors who are of the same race as the characters they are supposed to portray. There are tons of Asian actors out there, they just get pigdonholed into stereotypical roles so often, their names don't become widely known. This has absolutely nothing to do with the supposed lack of Asian actors, and everything to do with Hollwyood not being able to wrap its mind around non-stereotypical characters.
@MegaStarbelly Also, to say that Sokka and Ketara were "whiter than [we] would like" is the understatement of the year. They are supposed to be Inuit, they could conceivably be payed by actors from any AmerIndian people, hell, even Italians in a pinch, but in stead, they chose white kids with the lightest skin, lightest blond hair and lightest blue eyes that they could find. The only way they could have made it more blatant, was if they had casted exclusively in Sweden and Denmark.
I say if there is the next Martin Luther King Movie, Martin Sheen should play it. Or maybe Tom Selleck as Saddam Hussein. How about a fictional play about the Confederate Army, they should cast blacks!!!! They have taken a wonderful story and turned it into something we all loath, the best way to protest this movie is not to go see it and to tell everyone else not to see it. I love the air bender series but I will not support this movie when it comes out.
@sboyk how about actors portraying a character who wasn't once or still real? And how about the character not have been a real race? There. Much more sense. :]
And why would anyone care if you're not supporting the movie? I don't support the movie Bounty Hunter. I don't care to go see it. You don't care. lol
Oh really so people have to be cast correctly black for black ,white for white if they are real people .But for non fictional people in books, cartoon, comic, video game . They can be any race because they are not real is that what youre saying. So superman can be Blackman, wonder women can be Asian, Batman can be Latin. After all that are all fictional right. So long as you have the best actor no one will care right. really I feel sad for you
@sboyk Dr. King was a real person. That would be historically inaccurate. Aang, however is always fictional. He may be "asian" in the show. But unfortunately for you, Night can do whatever he wants with the characters AND the story in his movie. I am relieved to see that the movie hasn't strayed too far from the show. An open mind is a true mark of wisdom. Please reserve your judgement for when you actually see it.

They should have called the movie: "The last airbender- loosely based on the popular anime 'avatar- the last airbender' to the point it's unrecognizable".
Have you seen the screenplay? The movie is very faithfull to the original story. The casting looks different but that's a different issue. It terms of story its really close, there are a couple of changes here and there but that's unavoidable in a film adabtion. It follows it just as close as any of the Harry Potter film.
No its not a lie. Look at the screenplay its very faithfull. There were more changes in the Spiderman , X-men, Batman and about every other superhero movie (exept Watchmen) then there are in this film. And is about as close as the Harry Potter movies.
When you change books into movies, it's slightly different because the characters in books only have general appearances. And then the movie comes along and they have confirmed appearances.
When you change a cartoon to a movie the characters all have definite appearances/personalities. Same w/ comic books. So the fans get into the movie expecting everything to be the same, because they already know what everything looks like. I guess that's why we get so mad about it.
@alexandriusgirl It is shallow of you to think that just because the characters don't look alike that the adaptation is "unrecognizable". I think that Dragonads movie would fit your description better.
cool with everything their changing still want "some" humor, gonna miss the the hybrid animals, and Azula should hav blue flames still btw ur funny i hope u get a cameo in the movie
No Foamy mouth guy, no flopsy, no sweet awesome looking beards?!, crazy hair and stupid hats that would look ridiculous in real life.... what!? This will suck. JK I saw the latest trailer, it looks like it will be really good. Very well done. Keep it up. You gave me good laugh!
people take any changes made from the source material to film transition like it's a personal attack. it's just a movie, stop being ridiculous and realize your opinion really doesn't matter. i enjoyed the series and am looking forward to seeing the film when it's released.
@HiTEqMETHOD This isn't a matter of a few costume changes, they're changing the race of the entire cast into the old-fashioned, coded, "white = hero, brown = villain" meme.
i honestly think that's reading too much into it. anytime things remotely related to race are brought to people's attention they jump for the race card and say it's some kind of injustice. this isn't blatant racism, it's a cast for a movie that just happens to be different from the cartoon.
@HiTEqMETHOD Hollywood has a long history of casting white actors as non-white characters, and never the other way around. It was most common in the 60s, with various white actors playing non-white characters that ranged from the deeply offensive, such as Christopher Leigh as Fu Manchu, and Andy Roony as the pervy, buck-toothed Japanese neighbor from Breakfast at Tiffany's, to the slightly badass (if not for the rampant whitewashing,) like John Wayne as Genghis Khan in Conqueror.
@TheVVanderingStar It's pretty obvious that this is what happened. Hollywood has a long history of doing this sort of thing, it didn't stop without lots of people raising their voices to say how offensive it was, and it will keep doing it as long as no one says anything.
@yerk3 lies. Even recently, Jaden Smith is THE KARATE KID.
In The Last Airbender, there are white actors plays as fictional raced characters, not Asian. They're influenced by Asian in the cartoon, but not in the movie (not racially anyways. Culturally they still are but overall it is still a fictional race) Though it is true to have happened it slowly dies down as discrimination dies down. Overall, each country mostly uses the race that most populates their country.
@Axxidous The characters are Asian, not a "fictional race." Their names are not from a "fictional race," but from various Asian ethnicities. Their features are Asian, not of some made-up fantasy race. They have dark, almond-shaped eyes and black hair. The only character that doesn't have black hair has white hair because of a childhood illness. There are real people who have these features, and they are Asian.
@yerk3 "The characters are Asian, not a "fictional race.":" LMDAO You never watched the show did you!!!? XD
Their names weren't from a fictional race... but the were sure pronounced odd for the race the supposedly came from. lol And yeah the race is real. ppl can really airbend :P Katara's eyes are blue btw.
@Axxidous Actually, i did watch the show, and I'm pretty sure I paid more attention than you did. How were the names pronounced "oddly?" They all seemed to be pronounced correctly, and any mispronunciations are due to the fact that the voice actors probably aren't all fluent in Mandarin. Airbenders aren't a "race," even though the Air Nomads were technically an ethnicity. Bending is an inherited ability, not a race.
@yerk3 My brother's got dark hair, Noah Ringer has almond-shaped eyes. Yue wasn't ILL. Zhao looked British lol Katara's mom didn't look the same race as the rest of the southern water tribe. She didn't look Asian. There are real ppl with these features, yes... they're called humans. lol Oh you mean the race that only the racist and shallow care about? XP
@Axxidous Zhao looked Chinese. Also, Ketara's mom looked Innuit, like the rest of the water tribes. I never said Yue was ill at the time when she's introduced to the story. Notice that I said "CHILDHOOD illness," as in, it came and went when she was a baby, but left her with prematurely white hair.
@yerk3 Really? Cuz everyone else was saying he looked Japanese and the Earthbenders from Toph's home looked Chinese. lol If Katara's mom looked inuit like the rest of the water tribe, why did she look light skinned while everyone else in the tribe was dark skinned? She looked more like one of our lighter toned hispanics lol.
what you're saying is that in the film they dress Asian and have Asian names so they're Asian? Then we have nothing to complain about. XP (but LOOK Asian? I found only half of them looked Asian. If it weren't for the non-biological CULTURE and the knowledge that it was a REFERENCE of Asian culture, I wouldn't even have thought the film was suppose to specifically have Asians at all.)
@Axxidous You can obfuscate and make all the straw man arguments that you want, but the point remains: the characters looked and dressed Asian, and had Asian names. For the most part, only Asian people have Asian names. If there ever have been white people with those names, I am certain that the number of them that have ever existed, throughout history, can be counted on one hand, as opposed to the millions of Asian people with Asian names.
@yerk3 I know of an Asian named Michael, white guy named Aang and my last name is DIAZ. But more importantly, that is not biological. That is culture, and because it is a fictional culture influenced by a real one, the fictional culture can be played with enough to give other races a chance to be in the story AND keep the names and culture. The only difference is their DNA and looks and judging people on that is racial discrimination.
@yerk3 Yes. Casting white actors as Asian characters is what we're all reminded of when we see a movie with a diversity of all races playing as fictional-raced characters with Asian CULTURE influence that's still in the movie. Wait... those are nothing alike! LOL
@Axxidous The main characters aren't a "diversity of all races," all the good guys are white, while all of the villains are Indian. Having any and all Asians relegated to the role of unnamed, non-speaking extras is not diversity, it's marginalization.
@yerk3 The main characters are white, "mixed", Indian and Asian. This is throughout whole triglogy. Don't give me the "But not in the first film" crap cuz Aang only learns water in the first film and that doesn't mean he isn't still the AVATAR. lol I guess you'd prefer Haru to be white and Toph, and pretty much everyone except the main 4 cuz if they're not the main characters they must not matter. wow
@yerk3 oh yeeeaaaah! White ppl can't be good! White ppl are EVIL! u_u;
How about this, if we're gonna discriminate and make it all one race (even tho none of the races we have are the same as the fictional race) let's make it all Hispanic! No whites then! HAPPY, ya racist!? (No cuz it's not Asians and Asians are the supreme race) blah blah.
@Axxidous Nice straw man. Can you point to where I ever said that white people were evil? Why would I think that? I am one! I just think that Shyamalan should have left well enough alone and not drastically changed the appearances of the characters, just to suit Hollywood stereotypes.
@yerk3 You and your straws. Just like a major trend in racism, particularly in genocides, you use an insulting pet name to refer to something you dislike in order to take it less seriously and to refuse to acknowledge it. Nice. If stubborness is the game you're going to play, it's not going to help you convince me to start hating on the movie JUST BECAUSE there's people of other races in it. You know how stupid that sounds?
@yerk3 Okay, apparently you didn't get the sarcasm when I said that statement last night. The point I was trying to make is white people being heroes shouldn't mean something racist. Why can't we randomly place races as the classifications in the film without calling it racist if the white guy ends up as the good guy? Shouldn't any race be able to be a good guy without any problems by now?
@yerk3 Night didn't drastically change the appearances even WITH the change of race. We can obviously tell who is who without the NEED to look up the actors and actresses to see who plays who. I'm pretty sure anyone can clearly see that Aang is Aang... WITHOUT them ever even saying his name in a single damn trailer! LOL Personally, I liked the cartoon a lot but it woulda been much more stereotypical in the film.
@Axxidous It baffles me really: Shyamalan IS South Asian, but he can't bring himself to cast Asians as the heroes, even when the heroes in the original show are supposed to look Asian. I think he just has Hollywood-itis. You have to know the history here, this is a long-standing trend, Hollywood has been casting white actors as Asian characters for decades. It all has to do with their assumption that a non-white protagonist will alienate white audiences.
@yerk3 Who told you he COULDN'T bring himself to cast Asians as heroes? They don't NEED to be the heroes! No one does! They just need someone to play the hero and whoever can play it will get the part. There's others who can play the part? OF COURSE! There is in every part of every damn movie! But only one person actually GETS the part. It's not about race. And as soon as you blind-minded idiots see that the sooner you can all shut up and stop making fools of yourselves. lol
@yerk3 And the sooner I can relax and stop getting into another long conversation on one of JeffPalmer's vids even AFTER the racebenders have died down after half of them realized that were wrong and/or started getting impressed with the movie. XD All I know is this film has a LOT of support right now. lol And you DO know that Hollywood isn't a single person right? I doubt they actually believe race will help their ratings in a country where only people like you care what the race is!!
@Axxidous Of course, this won't stop you from purposefully misconstruing my arguments. Nothing will, as long as I continue to harsh on your squee. Hell hath no fury like a disgruntled fanboy.
@yerk3 Uh huh... what the hell are you talking about? I've never been a fanboy of anything other than the fact I am entertained by the work and happen to be male. The only thing I can't stand is when people do stuff that's stupid (usually, REALLY stupid... like say I'm racist against whites cuz I support non-whites too.... followed by comments from ppl who think I'm white washed! HOW THE HELL DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? XD)
@yerk3 With a brown director. The race was not paid attention to while casting. The casting call WAS bad but it was also a mistake. It doesn't count if that isn't what the casting call was suppose to say. Zuko is also not a villain, he is nuetral taking the actions of a villain become an important hero by the end of the trilogy. (plus, each race is placed in an ironic situation. Indians as the meat eaters, as the tyrants with all the power. That is something we don't usually get to see)
@Axxidous Saying that race was "not paid attention to" is a nice little cop-out. Race is always "paid attention to," consciously or not. "Colorblind" is a myth, racism is something that is present subconsciously in everyone, and must be acknowledged and fought, not ignored. Zuko is a villain until practically the end of the series. In the beginning, he's a sympathetic villain, towards the middle, he's a conflicted villain, he only really switches sides at the very end.
@yerk3 Plus, almost all the allies of the heroes are Asian, black, and hispanic. But no one wants to say anything about them because they're not the MAIN characters. Well in the second and 3rd films, Toph IS a main character and she WILL be Asian. I'm sure no one would be happier of the main characters were Asian and the rest were white. Or would you seriously not care? (considering your complaint)
@Axxidous Having a non-white sidekick is not diversity either. It just perpetuates the dominance of the white character. The characters in the show are clearly Asian.
@yerk3 You are clearly an idiot. lol The characters in the show were cartoons, not Asians. The only definition of race they gave was that Aang was an Air Nomad and an AirBENDER and that the rest where the other 4 nations. Well, no, Suki WAS A Kyoshi warrior so she was from the Island of Kyoshi. Tell me, they trailed the north and south pole..... how close are those to ASIA? And they traveled the world soooo where was Mexico, Africa, Egypt, Russia and America? They were clearly NOT REAL.
@Axxidous You are clearly grasping at straws. The show was animated, that doesn't mean that the characters are from some made-up race. Even with the artistic style, you can tell that they are supposed to look Asian. Again, bending is not a race, though the different nations could be considered distinct ethnicities. An ethnicity, as opposed to a race, is more about culture and heritage and less about physical traits.
@yerk3 No. I am clearly reprising myself from trying to stop racism by using a double standard! The show took place all across the globe showing fictional places none of which resenbled any real area on our real life planet. There was no Mexico, no France, and no ASIAN! No CHINA, VIETNAM or KOREA! Their animals were not the same as ours. They genetics were not the same as ours. Their abilities were not all the same as ours. They are not us!
@yerk3 The art style doesn't look real. Asians don't look like that. They look somewhat similar to anime which doesn't help because that's just an art-style that can be used on any race, anime is merely an animation in Asian meaning it is not limited to only Asian characters, and people argue that anime characters don't even look Asian which the animators do on purpose, so that's not a good argument to note it's resemblence to anime!
@yerk3 Only the Avatar can bend multiple elements. Because Katara is a WATERbender, not an AIRbender. Her being raised in the air temple wouldn't change that. It's in her bloodline and genetics. It's an ability and a trait only from her race. And the nations are based on those races, later creating the cultures which, like you said, are NOT physical traits, which is WHY the real life race of the actors outside of the film does not matter.
@Axxidous The fact that this is set in a fantasy world with different continents than our own is irrelevant, as this fantasy world is based heavily on various parts of Asia and the Arctic regions. Also, I as I have clarified before, I never claimed that the Water Tribes were Asian, they are based on the Innuit, who do live in and around the North Pole, and throughout the Arctic region.
@yerk3 It's NOT irrelevant in this case. You can't be Asian, 1: If you're not a race from Asian. 2: if Asians are only a portion of the world in real life (meaning only a portion of them are Asian in the series), 3: there is no race in their world defined as a race from our real world. No places, animals or races are the same as ours, only BASED on it. I can base a character on Aang but it doesn't mean the character IS Aang.
@yerk3 Okay, if they are not Asian, then it isn't all Asians in the series. Then in the movie, making them not all Asians but merely remixing the idea of what each nation's identity will be should not be be a big deal. There are multiple races within the film playing major roles. No one was paying attention to what race played who until it was time to organize the nations' identities later. Whatever happened happened.
@Axxidous Again with the straw men. I never said that ALL of the characters in the series were Asian. The water tribes are AmerIndian, everyone else is Asian. However, this is not the same as having ALL of the heroes be white, having ALL of the villains be brown, with a rainbow coalition of non-speaking extras milling about in the periphery. In terms of diversity, extras don't count, because they don't matter, they're not characters, they're human scenery.
The comment you're probably responding too is one that confirmed you said this and then elaborated on why those facts support that there is nothing wrong with this film? And really? ALL the heroes are white? Cuz Yue looked hispanic, Toph's suppose to be Asian, Haru is Asian, Bumi will be Asian when we see him, Zuko and Iroh are not white and are future-heroes, but those are sidekicks huh? Then if there's only one who ISN'T a sidekick, who cares what "ALL" the heroes are?
@yerk3 And who cares if the villains are brown?! All we care about is if the villains are COOL! If they're TOUGH! If they're STRONG!! And if they're EVILLLLLL! We want to see their firebending! Not lighter skin! Not only that but I've never seen Idians used as bad guys before. Not even Iranians! Maybe in real life cuz of terrorist attacks, but not as a race, and not in films. Personally, I feel there could be much darker skinned ppl so if skin color's the problem for you, count your blessings.
@Axxidous Well, for one, brown people might care that their race is presented exclusively as the villains, with the exception of Iroh, until the very end of the story arc, when one of them switches sides, while all of the heroes are flaxen-haired Aryan specimens.
@yerk3 First off, I know plent of brown people who aren't stupid and bent out of shape (I mean who don't worry that there's brown people as villains) probably because we don't see it as "they put brown people as the villains" but rather as just "villains" sorta barely even paying attention to the fact that they're dark skinned.
@yerk3 But besides that... uhh.. hello? FIRE NATION? Who doesn't love the fire nation? SOMEBODY'S gotta be the villain and the way you put it makes it sound like any race should be insulted to be the same of whoever plays the fire nation. But who doesn't love a great villain? LOL
@Axxidous Your argument ultimately rests on profound tunnel-vision. If you view this movie in a total vacuum, divorced from any and all historical and social context, if you, me, M. Night, and the actors, directors, producers, grips etc. of this film were the only human beings living on Earth, and we had all sprung up fully formed out of nothing about two years ago, and there had never been anyone living on earth before us, then it really wouldn't matter what race the characters were.
@yerk3 My argument? MY argument? Excuse me but did you just drop the blame on ME? It's not my fault you see it as an argument and not the truth. And it's not my fault you weren't able to get it from the others and had to hear more from me. It's more like "the case" rather than "your argument" lol I mean, your example was sorta bizzare so I didn't exactly get it... but let's put it this way: It wouldn't matter what race the characters are and currently, luckily, it still doesn't. :)
@Axxidous You're the one arguing here, so yeah, your argument. Or is there someone else you're arguing on behalf of, perhaps a friend who for some reason is unable to use a keyboard? And yes, I am "dropping the blame" for your myopic, disingenuous, straw man-laden argument squarely on your shoulders, because you're the one on the keyboard right now, furiously trolling in defense of the same Hollywood bullshit that brought us the Dragonball movie.
@yerk3 Actually technically you're the one arguing because you're the one with the complaint. I'm just letting you know there's nothing to complain about. And you act like this video doesn't have more than twice as many good ratings as it does bad. Take a good look. I don't think putting the blame on me for the majority's actions is really fair. That's more like giving me credit for representing the sane. lol
@Axxidous I'm not the only one with the complaint. In fact, your side of the argument seems to be in the minority. Most of the original fans of the show that I've heard from agree with me that the casting is bullshit. The ratings on this video don't mean shit, fanboys will always up-rate, while not everyone who thinks this is bullshit really cares enough to down-rate. Either way, argumentum ad populum: classic bullshit tactic.
@yerk3 You're not the only one, but you and the others complaining are outnumbered by both fans who want to see it, non-fans who want to see it, and people who don't care but find out about the dispute and say "people don't know what to protest for so they'll protest over anything these days..." which happens to be an actual quote similar to a LOT of reactions.
@yerk3 And if you and the other complainers have these complaints in common then of course you'll see each other more. I've seen WAY less complaints than praise ,especially after February. I've already pointed out the ratings and in comparison... no... my view is not the minority. The minority does not think that a person should be criticized by race, nor do they think that it's BAD to make it MORE DIVERSE.
@yerk3 You say the extras don't count if it's in support of diversity but if it's not then you stupidly contradict yourself right in front of me by saying it does. You say that the movie isn't good enough cuz it's not diverse enough but you prefer it to be NOT DIVERSE at all!
@yerk3 You complain cuz 2 of the main characters looks white and the villain is brown, can't make him lighter with the Chinese cuz then you'll say we're making whites good and chinese bad...no race can be the bad race without whites being racist to you... so then whites can't be good guys at all (which is racist to whites). In fact,
@yerk3 if the Fire nation was brown and the main characters were mexican you probably wouldn't complain or at least not as much cuz at least it's not WHITE. Racebenders call themselves racebenders for a reason, THEY ARE the racists. ha! lol
Now what does this film have in comparison to DBE? DBE was actually casted with the right races. (Goku being an alien has no human race and personally, I don't think Goku looked Asian or white. He just didn't look real. But at least in that film the characters were actually on Earth with defined races) DBE was low budget and low quality crap. This film, in case you haven't seen the trailers, has a high budget and so far looks high quality.
@Axxidous Oh, only the whitewashed casting and shitting all over the source material. I have seen the trailers for this film, and yes, it does look like it has the kind of special effects that come with a big budget, but is this really all the movie boils down to: big, flashy 'splosions? CGI explosions have been used as a way to spice up bad movies since CGI was invented. It's the cinematic equivalent of slapping on some aftershave in stead of taking a shower.
@yerk3 I just wonder if the racebenders think what they're doing is right, why are the people who make the same point as you always more an ass than the ones supporting this film? I guess you're just to picky to see this movie which is okay with me...but 20 times more people WANT to see this movie so stop spoiling it like an athiest trying to tear down Christians (not saying I'm Christian nor Athiest, just the actions are stupid)
katara's hair loopies, momo's cuteness, iroh chubby cheerful attitude and zuko's noticeable scar, zhoa's sidburns and aang looking like a 12 year old is all need

All the work and research the creators put into the TV show was tossed out the window.
shounenbat510 1 year ago
@shounenbat510 Overracting much??
dramasweety 1 year ago
@shounenbat510 The cultures are just different, but they never had actual cultures in the show, so it doesn't make a difference.
The martial arts are EXACTLY the same. M. Night confirmed it.
They made up the writing to give the feel of a made up world, but still heavily based on Asian culture.
They're actually adding more Eastern Asian infliences Ex: Getting rid of the American accents in all the names.
And M. Night is considered one of the biggest ATLA fans ever.
Now why will it suck again?

@Oukro LLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL! You're a fucking idiot dude, there are interview with M. Night and the creators of the show. He has full on discussions with them about it. His daughter got him into the show, he's been a huge fan of the show since the second season.
Seriously, do your research before you try to call someone out on something. You sound retarded.
kibblesays 1 year ago
@kibblesays
You also sound retarded.
I've done my research, thank for you very much.
If you want to believe that being able to have discussions about the show with other people makes m. night shyamalan the most awesome director/biggest avatar fan in the whole entire world then go ahead. Not like you needed my permission to have moronic opinions with failed logic to back them up anyway.
Oukro 1 year ago
@Oukro There's also some blog type things where people have a sit down talk with M. Night. They point out how big of a fan he is. This isn't a direct quote, but I read something very similar to this sentence: "He's a very big fan of the show, during our discussion he would pick episodes, name their titles, and begin to go into detail about them." Again, not a direct quote, but it more of less said the same thing.
If you've "done your research" what proof do you have that he's no a fan?
kibblesays 1 year ago
@kibblesays
I never said he wasn't a fan of the show.
Oukro 1 year ago
@Oukro You said he didn't know shit about Avatar. Its kinda hard to be a fan of the show and not know shit about it.
I didn't say THE biggest fan, and said ONE of the biggest fans. As in, he's a really really really big fan of the show. Which he is.
I'm not clamming that. There's still a high chance of it sucking, and a high chance of it being good. Like every other movie out there.
kibblesays 1 year ago
@kibblesays
I agree with that. I hope it doesn't suck...
Oukro 1 year ago
@shounenbat510
i could not have said it better myself.
people who tell you you're overreacting were never that big of a fan of the show.
or they don't understand how someone could feel so strongly about...
racism in casting, disregard of asian culture, lack of credit to the original creators, complete destruction/renovation of all the characters' personalities, or disregard for the overall design of the show, its plot, and its characters.
People, you should at least TRY to understand.

Also this kind of cultural exploitation goes on way too much in favor of Whites being able to play anyone, yet people of color are relegated to VERY specific roles

the reason that racial details matter is because the characters and their race in the orignal cartoon were representative for asian/brown kids looking for a presence (as in LEADS) in american cartoons. to change that in the movie version is to take something away from kids and for fans of the series, more so since the show was on so recently. it's like casting a white guy to play shaft, wait... shaft is bad example, how boung martin luther king. yeah. something like that.
lfyrtheny 1 year ago
the people complaining on this page have no concept of real life or what the process of movie making involves. So what if Katara and Sokka are whiter then you would like? TheyreEskimos! should we only hire Eskimo actors? how many Eskimo actors do you know?
MegaStarbelly 1 year ago
@MegaStarbelly Actually, it is easy to find actors who are of the same race as the characters they are supposed to portray. There are tons of Asian actors out there, they just get pigdonholed into stereotypical roles so often, their names don't become widely known. This has absolutely nothing to do with the supposed lack of Asian actors, and everything to do with Hollwyood not being able to wrap its mind around non-stereotypical characters.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 It's easy? Have you done it yourself? What's the title of the movie?
Axxidous 1 year ago

So long as you have the best actor no one will care right. really I feel sad for you
sboyk 1 year ago
@sboyk Dr. King was a real person. That would be historically inaccurate. Aang, however is always fictional. He may be "asian" in the show. But unfortunately for you, Night can do whatever he wants with the characters AND the story in his movie. I am relieved to see that the movie hasn't strayed too far from the show.

And is about as close as the Harry Potter movies.
thehoffmanapprentice 1 year ago
@thehoffmanapprentice

HiTEqMETHOD 1 year ago 2
@HiTEqMETHOD This isn't a matter of a few costume changes, they're changing the race of the entire cast into the old-fashioned, coded, "white = hero, brown = villain" meme.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3
i honestly think that's reading too much into it. anytime things remotely related to race are brought to people's attention they jump for the race card and say it's some kind of injustice. this isn't blatant racism, it's a cast for a movie that just happens to be different from the cartoon.
HiTEqMETHOD 1 year ago 3
@HiTEqMETHOD Hollywood has a long history of casting white actors as non-white characters, and never the other way around. It was most common in the 60s, with various white actors playing non-white characters that ranged from the deeply offensive, such as Christopher Leigh as Fu Manchu, and Andy Roony as the pervy, buck-toothed Japanese neighbor from Breakfast at Tiffany's, to the slightly badass (if not for the rampant whitewashing,) like John Wayne as Genghis Khan in Conqueror.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3
I know racism in Hollywood is a problem and all, but I just don't think that it went on here.
TheVVanderingStar 1 year ago
@TheVVanderingStar It's pretty obvious that this is what happened. Hollywood has a long history of doing this sort of thing, it didn't stop without lots of people raising their voices to say how offensive it was, and it will keep doing it as long as no one says anything.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3
I know it happens, but as I've said, I don't think it happened here.
TheVVanderingStar 1 year ago
@TheVVanderingStar Why don't you think that it happened here? If this is par for the course, then how is this movie different?
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 lies. Even recently, Jaden Smith is THE KARATE KID.
In The Last Airbender, there are white actors plays as fictional raced characters, not Asian. They're influenced by Asian in the cartoon, but not in the movie (not racially anyways. Culturally they still are but overall it is still a fictional race) Though it is true to have happened it slowly dies down as discrimination dies down. Overall, each country mostly uses the race that most populates their country.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous The characters are Asian, not a "fictional race." Their names are not from a "fictional race," but from various Asian ethnicities. Their features are Asian, not of some made-up fantasy race. They have dark, almond-shaped eyes and black hair. The only character that doesn't have black hair has white hair because of a childhood illness. There are real people who have these features, and they are Asian.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 "The characters are Asian, not a "fictional race.":" LMDAO You never watched the show did you!!!? XD
Their names weren't from a fictional race... but the were sure pronounced odd for the race the supposedly came from. lol And yeah the race is real. ppl can really airbend :P Katara's eyes are blue btw.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous Actually, i did watch the show, and I'm pretty sure I paid more attention than you did. How were the names pronounced "oddly?" They all seemed to be pronounced correctly, and any mispronunciations are due to the fact that the voice actors probably aren't all fluent in Mandarin. Airbenders aren't a "race," even though the Air Nomads were technically an ethnicity. Bending is an inherited ability, not a race.
yerk3 1 year ago

@yerk3 My brother's got dark hair, Noah Ringer has almond-shaped eyes. Yue wasn't ILL. Zhao looked British lol Katara's mom didn't look the same race as the rest of the southern water tribe. She didn't look Asian. There are real ppl with these features, yes... they're called humans. lol Oh you mean the race that only the racist and shallow care about? XP
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous Zhao looked Chinese. Also, Ketara's mom looked Innuit, like the rest of the water tribes. I never said Yue was ill at the time when she's introduced to the story. Notice that I said "CHILDHOOD illness," as in, it came and went when she was a baby, but left her with prematurely white hair.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 Really? Cuz everyone else was saying he looked Japanese and the Earthbenders from Toph's home looked Chinese. lol If Katara's mom looked inuit like the rest of the water tribe, why did she look light skinned while everyone else in the tribe was dark skinned? She looked more like one of our lighter toned hispanics lol.
Axxidous 1 year ago
what you're saying is that in the film they dress Asian and have Asian names so they're Asian? Then we have nothing to complain about. XP (but LOOK Asian? I found only half of them looked Asian. If it weren't for the non-biological CULTURE and the knowledge that it was a REFERENCE of Asian culture, I wouldn't even have thought the film was suppose to specifically have Asians at all.)
Axxidous 1 year ago

Axxidous 1 year ago
@HiTEqMETHOD The more you know about how Hollywood used to operate, the more depressingly familiar this begins to look.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3
maybe so.
HiTEqMETHOD 1 year ago
@yerk3 Yes. Casting white actors as Asian characters is what we're all reminded of when we see a movie with a diversity of all races playing as fictional-raced characters with Asian CULTURE influence that's still in the movie. Wait... those are nothing alike! LOL
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous The main characters aren't a "diversity of all races," all the good guys are white, while all of the villains are Indian. Having any and all Asians relegated to the role of unnamed, non-speaking extras is not diversity, it's marginalization.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 The main characters are white, "mixed", Indian and Asian. This is throughout whole triglogy. Don't give me the "But not in the first film" crap cuz Aang only learns water in the first film and that doesn't mean he isn't still the AVATAR. lol I guess you'd prefer Haru to be white and Toph, and pretty much everyone except the main 4 cuz if they're not the main characters they must not matter. wow
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 oh yeeeaaaah! White ppl can't be good! White ppl are EVIL! u_u;
How about this, if we're gonna discriminate and make it all one race (even tho none of the races we have are the same as the fictional race) let's make it all Hispanic! No whites then! HAPPY, ya racist!? (No cuz it's not Asians and Asians are the supreme race) blah blah.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous Nice straw man. Can you point to where I ever said that white people were evil? Why would I think that? I am one! I just think that Shyamalan should have left well enough alone and not drastically changed the appearances of the characters, just to suit Hollywood stereotypes.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 You and your straws. Just like a major trend in racism, particularly in genocides, you use an insulting pet name to refer to something you dislike in order to take it less seriously and to refuse to acknowledge it. Nice. If stubborness is the game you're going to play, it's not going to help you convince me to start hating on the movie JUST BECAUSE there's people of other races in it. You know how stupid that sounds?
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 Okay, apparently you didn't get the sarcasm when I said that statement last night. The point I was trying to make is white people being heroes shouldn't mean something racist. Why can't we randomly place races as the classifications in the film without calling it racist if the white guy ends up as the good guy? Shouldn't any race be able to be a good guy without any problems by now?
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 Night didn't drastically change the appearances even WITH the change of race. We can obviously tell who is who without the NEED to look up the actors and actresses to see who plays who. I'm pretty sure anyone can clearly see that Aang is Aang... WITHOUT them ever even saying his name in a single damn trailer! LOL Personally, I liked the cartoon a lot but it woulda been much more stereotypical in the film.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous It baffles me really: Shyamalan IS South Asian, but he can't bring himself to cast Asians as the heroes, even when the heroes in the original show are supposed to look Asian. I think he just has Hollywood-itis. You have to know the history here, this is a long-standing trend, Hollywood has been casting white actors as Asian characters for decades. It all has to do with their assumption that a non-white protagonist will alienate white audiences.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 Who told you he COULDN'T bring himself to cast Asians as heroes? They don't NEED to be the heroes! No one does! They just need someone to play the hero and whoever can play it will get the part. There's others who can play the part? OF COURSE! There is in every part of every damn movie! But only one person actually GETS the part. It's not about race. And as soon as you blind-minded idiots see that the sooner you can all shut up and stop making fools of yourselves. lol
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 And the sooner I can relax and stop getting into another long conversation on one of JeffPalmer's vids even AFTER the racebenders have died down after half of them realized that were wrong and/or started getting impressed with the movie. XD All I know is this film has a LOT of support right now. lol And you DO know that Hollywood isn't a single person right? I doubt they actually believe race will help their ratings in a country where only people like you care what the race is!!
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous Of course, this won't stop you from purposefully misconstruing my arguments. Nothing will, as long as I continue to harsh on your squee. Hell hath no fury like a disgruntled fanboy.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 Uh huh... what the hell are you talking about? I've never been a fanboy of anything other than the fact I am entertained by the work and happen to be male. The only thing I can't stand is when people do stuff that's stupid (usually, REALLY stupid... like say I'm racist against whites cuz I support non-whites too.... followed by comments from ppl who think I'm white washed! HOW THE HELL DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? XD)
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 With a brown director. The race was not paid attention to while casting. The casting call WAS bad but it was also a mistake. It doesn't count if that isn't what the casting call was suppose to say. Zuko is also not a villain, he is nuetral taking the actions of a villain become an important hero by the end of the trilogy. (plus, each race is placed in an ironic situation. Indians as the meat eaters, as the tyrants with all the power. That is something we don't usually get to see)
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous Saying that race was "not paid attention to" is a nice little cop-out. Race is always "paid attention to," consciously or not. "Colorblind" is a myth, racism is something that is present subconsciously in everyone, and must be acknowledged and fought, not ignored. Zuko is a villain until practically the end of the series. In the beginning, he's a sympathetic villain, towards the middle, he's a conflicted villain, he only really switches sides at the very end.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 Plus, almost all the allies of the heroes are Asian, black, and hispanic. But no one wants to say anything about them because they're not the MAIN characters. Well in the second and 3rd films, Toph IS a main character and she WILL be Asian. I'm sure no one would be happier of the main characters were Asian and the rest were white. Or would you seriously not care? (considering your complaint)
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous Having a non-white sidekick is not diversity either. It just perpetuates the dominance of the white character. The characters in the show are clearly Asian.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 You are clearly an idiot. lol The characters in the show were cartoons, not Asians. The only definition of race they gave was that Aang was an Air Nomad and an AirBENDER and that the rest where the other 4 nations. Well, no, Suki WAS A Kyoshi warrior so she was from the Island of Kyoshi. Tell me, they trailed the north and south pole..... how close are those to ASIA? And they traveled the world soooo where was Mexico, Africa, Egypt, Russia and America? They were clearly NOT REAL.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous You are clearly grasping at straws. The show was animated, that doesn't mean that the characters are from some made-up race. Even with the artistic style, you can tell that they are supposed to look Asian. Again, bending is not a race, though the different nations could be considered distinct ethnicities. An ethnicity, as opposed to a race, is more about culture and heritage and less about physical traits.
yerk3 1 year ago
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 The art style doesn't look real. Asians don't look like that. They look somewhat similar to anime which doesn't help because that's just an art-style that can be used on any race, anime is merely an animation in Asian meaning it is not limited to only Asian characters, and people argue that anime characters don't even look Asian which the animators do on purpose, so that's not a good argument to note it's resemblence to anime!
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 Only the Avatar can bend multiple elements. Because Katara is a WATERbender, not an AIRbender. Her being raised in the air temple wouldn't change that. It's in her bloodline and genetics. It's an ability and a trait only from her race. And the nations are based on those races, later creating the cultures which, like you said, are NOT physical traits, which is WHY the real life race of the actors outside of the film does not matter.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous The fact that this is set in a fantasy world with different continents than our own is irrelevant, as this fantasy world is based heavily on various parts of Asia and the Arctic regions. Also, I as I have clarified before, I never claimed that the Water Tribes were Asian, they are based on the Innuit, who do live in and around the North Pole, and throughout the Arctic region.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 It's NOT irrelevant in this case. You can't be Asian, 1: If you're not a race from Asian. 2: if Asians are only a portion of the world in real life (meaning only a portion of them are Asian in the series), 3: there is no race in their world defined as a race from our real world. No places, animals or races are the same as ours, only BASED on it. I can base a character on Aang but it doesn't mean the character IS Aang.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 Okay, if they are not Asian, then it isn't all Asians in the series. Then in the movie, making them not all Asians but merely remixing the idea of what each nation's identity will be should not be be a big deal. There are multiple races within the film playing major roles. No one was paying attention to what race played who until it was time to organize the nations' identities later. Whatever happened happened.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous Again with the straw men. I never said that ALL of the characters in the series were Asian. The water tribes are AmerIndian, everyone else is Asian. However, this is not the same as having ALL of the heroes be white, having ALL of the villains be brown, with a rainbow coalition of non-speaking extras milling about in the periphery. In terms of diversity, extras don't count, because they don't matter, they're not characters, they're human scenery.
yerk3 1 year ago
The comment you're probably responding too is one that confirmed you said this and then elaborated on why those facts support that there is nothing wrong with this film? And really? ALL the heroes are white? Cuz Yue looked hispanic, Toph's suppose to be Asian, Haru is Asian, Bumi will be Asian when we see him, Zuko and Iroh are not white and are future-heroes, but those are sidekicks huh? Then if there's only one who ISN'T a sidekick, who cares what "ALL" the heroes are?
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 And who cares if the villains are brown?! All we care about is if the villains are COOL! If they're TOUGH! If they're STRONG!! And if they're EVILLLLLL! We want to see their firebending! Not lighter skin! Not only that but I've never seen Idians used as bad guys before. Not even Iranians! Maybe in real life cuz of terrorist attacks, but not as a race, and not in films. Personally, I feel there could be much darker skinned ppl so if skin color's the problem for you, count your blessings.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous Well, for one, brown people might care that their race is presented exclusively as the villains, with the exception of Iroh, until the very end of the story arc, when one of them switches sides, while all of the heroes are flaxen-haired Aryan specimens.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 First off, I know plent of brown people who aren't stupid and bent out of shape (I mean who don't worry that there's brown people as villains) probably because we don't see it as "they put brown people as the villains" but rather as just "villains" sorta barely even paying attention to the fact that they're dark skinned.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 But besides that... uhh.. hello? FIRE NATION? Who doesn't love the fire nation? SOMEBODY'S gotta be the villain and the way you put it makes it sound like any race should be insulted to be the same of whoever plays the fire nation. But who doesn't love a great villain? LOL
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous Your argument ultimately rests on profound tunnel-vision. If you view this movie in a total vacuum, divorced from any and all historical and social context, if you, me, M. Night, and the actors, directors, producers, grips etc. of this film were the only human beings living on Earth, and we had all sprung up fully formed out of nothing about two years ago, and there had never been anyone living on earth before us, then it really wouldn't matter what race the characters were.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 My argument? MY argument? Excuse me but did you just drop the blame on ME? It's not my fault you see it as an argument and not the truth. And it's not my fault you weren't able to get it from the others and had to hear more from me. It's more like "the case" rather than "your argument" lol I mean, your example was sorta bizzare so I didn't exactly get it... but let's put it this way: It wouldn't matter what race the characters are and currently, luckily, it still doesn't. :)
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous You're the one arguing here, so yeah, your argument. Or is there someone else you're arguing on behalf of, perhaps a friend who for some reason is unable to use a keyboard? And yes, I am "dropping the blame" for your myopic, disingenuous, straw man-laden argument squarely on your shoulders, because you're the one on the keyboard right now, furiously trolling in defense of the same Hollywood bullshit that brought us the Dragonball movie.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 Actually technically you're the one arguing because you're the one with the complaint. I'm just letting you know there's nothing to complain about. And you act like this video doesn't have more than twice as many good ratings as it does bad. Take a good look. I don't think putting the blame on me for the majority's actions is really fair. That's more like giving me credit for representing the sane. lol
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous I'm not the only one with the complaint. In fact, your side of the argument seems to be in the minority. Most of the original fans of the show that I've heard from agree with me that the casting is bullshit. The ratings on this video don't mean shit, fanboys will always up-rate, while not everyone who thinks this is bullshit really cares enough to down-rate. Either way, argumentum ad populum: classic bullshit tactic.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 You're not the only one, but you and the others complaining are outnumbered by both fans who want to see it, non-fans who want to see it, and people who don't care but find out about the dispute and say "people don't know what to protest for so they'll protest over anything these days..." which happens to be an actual quote similar to a LOT of reactions.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 And if you and the other complainers have these complaints in common then of course you'll see each other more. I've seen WAY less complaints than praise ,especially after February. I've already pointed out the ratings and in comparison... no... my view is not the minority. The minority does not think that a person should be criticized by race, nor do they think that it's BAD to make it MORE DIVERSE.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 You say the extras don't count if it's in support of diversity but if it's not then you stupidly contradict yourself right in front of me by saying it does. You say that the movie isn't good enough cuz it's not diverse enough but you prefer it to be NOT DIVERSE at all!
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 You complain cuz 2 of the main characters looks white and the villain is brown, can't make him lighter with the Chinese cuz then you'll say we're making whites good and chinese bad...no race can be the bad race without whites being racist to you... so then whites can't be good guys at all (which is racist to whites). In fact,
Axxidous 1 year ago
@yerk3 if the Fire nation was brown and the main characters were mexican you probably wouldn't complain or at least not as much cuz at least it's not WHITE. Racebenders call themselves racebenders for a reason, THEY ARE the racists. ha! lol
Axxidous 1 year ago
Now what does this film have in comparison to DBE? DBE was actually casted with the right races. (Goku being an alien has no human race and personally, I don't think Goku looked Asian or white. He just didn't look real. But at least in that film the characters were actually on Earth with defined races) DBE was low budget and low quality crap. This film, in case you haven't seen the trailers, has a high budget and so far looks high quality.
Axxidous 1 year ago
@Axxidous Oh, only the whitewashed casting and shitting all over the source material. I have seen the trailers for this film, and yes, it does look like it has the kind of special effects that come with a big budget, but is this really all the movie boils down to: big, flashy 'splosions? CGI explosions have been used as a way to spice up bad movies since CGI was invented. It's the cinematic equivalent of slapping on some aftershave in stead of taking a shower.
yerk3 1 year ago
@yerk3 I just wonder if the racebenders think what they're doing is right, why are the people who make the same point as you always more an ass than the ones supporting this film? I guess you're just to picky to see this movie which is okay with me...but 20 times more people WANT to see this movie so stop spoiling it like an athiest trying to tear down Christians (not saying I'm Christian nor Athiest, just the actions are stupid)
