  • What is the game called at 4:43?

  • I wish I was in a Japanese elementary school when I was younger. I was SO athletic back then, this would of been a DREAM!

  • The only thing I would not like would e wearing the very skinny shorts up to my bellybutton.

  • nice ..i thought i will only see this in anime heheh

  • Elementary sports day in Bhutan. see my video :)

I really enjoy how kids all around the world do march past ;)

  • Oh my that's seriously amazing how the Japanese school system is like..

If I didn't know that this is an Elementary School Sports Festival I would have thought it's something like the Olympics ..

I wish I would have been a Japanese kid attending to a Japanese School with all those Club activites !!

(That's what I'm gonna be/do in my next life ;))

  • when i saw the giant balls I thought they were going to play omniball xDD

  • 1 dislike?! WTF?!

  • Japan's awesome thats for sure :D

  • That is why asia is the first in everything now. Asian kids actually do something besides watching retarded TV and sitting their asses off playing Call of Duty.

  • Any idea where the music at the beginning is from?

  • DUDE I SRSLY WANT TO BE JAPANESE its no fair theres only one japanese person i know in america where i live DDD:<

  • @animelionking Thank you for watching and sharing your comment and thoughts with us. I hope you have a chance to visit and explore Japan in the future. Perhaps you will enjoy seeing a part of the world where some of your ancestors may have come from. Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)

  • this brings back so many memories of when I was little back in elementary school out in Fukuoka. We held our sports day on Momochihama beach. Now I'm graduating from high school. oh how time fly's

  • 偉いな、遅れながらも倒したポールを戻した!w

  • Im from Ireland and this is nothin compared to my school...

  • Wow..so much school spirit! Where I'm from (california) there's never anything like this in my highschool. Even at homecoming games and such, the school was never really participates as a whole. Your video depicts a true community :)

  • @WindUpFun Thank you for sharing about how such sports events are done in California. School and community spirit is indeed an important thing here in Japan. Have a great day! ~Kurt :-)

  • Wow Japan makes this such an event :O!! In Ireland sports day involves an egg and spoon race in the back end of a field haha!! Hopefully though i can move over there :(... Such an amasing country.. Oyasuminusai!!

  • wow! looks fun compared to our Malaysia school sports

  • uwielbiam ten klimat

  • I want my kids to go to school in Japan. It's an awesome place to live for families. That's my dream.

  • Are events like these in Japan open for the public to watch? or is it only open for people in some way affiliated with the school?ie, parents, teachers?

  • @blackhat2005 This is a very good question. There are at least two types of sports festivals in Japan. The school events such as the one shown in this video are really just for family and friends. However, some communities (such as ours) have an annual community sports festival in which anyone living in the community is invited to attend and participate. I'm pretty sure that this latter event is open to anyone who wants to come and watch. I hope that this helps. ~Kurt :-)

  • Lol, I'm not the type of guy to rock those shorts.

  • I wan to try Roll the Ball LOL

  • The sports days I had to be a part of when I went to boarding school in England were all very physical stuff. Races and such. I was always the anchor in tug-of-war.

This is so CUTE btw! Aw!

  • so so the sports festival is like feild day?(races, tug-a-war, some food, water, etc.) This is pretty cool. Japan RULZ!! xD

  • Japan has got to be the coolest country in the universe. I hope I can visit there once before I die.

  • @DrCruel I hope you do get that chance. Thank you for watching! ~Kurt :-)

  • @DrCruel Same here

  • my sports day is more about cosplay than sport...for me anyway (and i'm australian)

  • @AnimeIsAwsome14 This sounds interesting... I have never heard of cosplay. Could you describe what this is? I will be in Australia in October and look forward to learning more about your country and people. ~Kurt :-)

  • @softypapa well basically we have a massive dress up parade at the athletics track and the people with the best outfits get points for their house. I have no idea if other schools do this. This year my friends and i are dressing up as characters from the corpse bride and last year we did a giant chinese dragon.

  • @AnimeIsAwsome14 Oh, that's very different from anything we do at our school here in Japan. Your event sounds like a lot of fun. Thank you for sharing and helping us understanding. ~Kurt :-)

  • the parade song reminds me of a pokemon background music

  • Lol for a second i was thinking some anime super hero was going tgo fly over in the beginning. I guess only in japan they have that type of music for sports lol

  • i wish my schoolwould have had somthing like this

  • cool!!! i wish i could live in japan and start a new life there!!! xD

  • and same the game our school

  • Hello jammikat, Thank you for sharing about the games at your school. We just did our community sports day yesterday where adults and kids could compete together. The event was a lot of fun and our neighborhood came in third place! Thanks again for viewing and posting. -Kurt :-)

i liked the dancing (: haha

  • So is she more Japanese or she's more scottish and german?

  • Well I was talking about if you're german or irish that kind of nationality.

  • Hello XBoxLiveissoboring, My grandparents were from Scotland and Germany. -Kurt :-)

  • And what nationality are you?.

  • What nationality is she? cause I'm half white and Asian

  • Hello XBoxLiveissoboring, I'm American and my wife is Japanese. -Kurt :-)

  • Is she you're daughter and why are you living there anyway? to tell you the truth I'm thinking japan as my second home since its close to my country the Philippines.

  • Hello XBoxLiveissoboring, Emily is indeed our daughter and she is the reason we moved to Japan. We came here to raise Emily in the same small tea farming community where my wife was raised. -Kurt :-)

  • Are you American?? god I'm going to Japan cause my brothers are half Japanese I'm Half Filippine I feel like Japan is my second home even though Iwas born in the Philippines.

  • Hello XBoxLiveissoboring, Yes, I am indeed American. I hope that you have a nice visit to Japan! -Kurt :-)

  • Hi i love the music in it. sports days always look good in Japan grr i want to live there :) and i think t was the first song but it reminded me of pokemon hehehe love the video :)

  • Hello lovemac95, I'm glad that you liked the video. I too enjoy the music they play at these events. -Kurt :-)

  • Hi Kurt! SO enjoyed your video! Hope you are having an awesome week. Hey, we are wanting to purchase a camcorder. Can you tell me what you have? I am hoping not to spend a huge amount of money and find something Vista compatible that will also take some still photos.

    Heather

  • Hi Heather, I am currently using a simple Sony Handycam (model DCR-HC26). This camera is about four years old and was near the bottom of Sony's quality list when I purchased it. The camera has lasted longer then I ever imagined and is a good strong workhorse. Any Sony you could by now would likely be much better than what I have. Good luck in your search and say hi to the family from us! :-)

  • Awesomeness :) Japanese people are trying hard to be in good spirit =) i admire that so much.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • At 4:32....was that Star Wars?

    Awesome.

  • I think you are right. I think it may have been from The Empire Strikes Back. :-)

  • Fun video! I especially liked the games. The one where the teams of kids pushing the big balls was funny...

    Great stuff :)

  • NO ONE CARES!!! :) have a nice life and Yea.. i thats right.. i can take anything you can dish out. "o God there go my organs" lmao

  • God how interesting, but so weird lol

  • i love japan and its culture and i love watching your videos.!

but i have a question. are you one of the families who ignore the type of bullying that has become culture to the Japanese schools that lead to suicide. also what do you think about the new poor? the ppl who have to have 3 jobs just to survive? what do you think about racial profiling, specially with the ainu?

your daughter looked cute in the dance haha

    thanks for sharing :D

  • what kind of bullying and racial profiling are you talking about?!?!

  • school bullying.come on there are lots of documentaries about this and proff in numbers if you like.

as far as racism, japan use to be like n. korea. "we hate those immigrants why are they here" sort of feeling though there is worse. ive spoken and met with teachers who have lived there for years. now japan is not too bad on that.

im satisfied to hear that you did not questoin about the new poor. im happy.

  • i loved it when they played the final fantasy audio!

what a great experience for a kid.. Japanese people sure know how to enjoy life =D

  • This is so nostalgic. My elementary school used to have these kinds of events too, only the games are different. But cheerleading was also one of the most important events. Another great video, Kurt! Thanks for sharing!

  • My pleasure, amydien09, Thanks for sharing about you sports day experiences. -Kurt :-)

  • We had something similar to that in my school. Although it wasn't nearly as fun as a majority of the 'sports' were endurance types. This of course led many of the students to ditch it (myself included). It is also not open to anyone outside the school (students and faculty only).

  • Frick I miss Japan, My family and I will also move back one day

  • Hello de1030, Yes, this video is indeed from 2007. I have a lot of old raw video which I have yet to edit and produce. In fact Emily's school is having their 2009 Sports Day next Saturday (May 23rd) ! My how time flies! -Kurt

  • how did it go ? :D

  • Hi Kurt. Almost like a mini Olympic Games. Japan really has it together, having events like this for their young people. I could see that Emily was having a fantastic time. She found you in the audience and waved to her mama and papa. You truly are blessed . And again I say Thank You, ...................Doug
