hehe. the latest update is that i sold my i780 off to get an iphone (the older model, not the iphone 3g). i guess i couldn't get used to the interface :T

yea. nice. i780 is crap. got it today, sending it back.. wlan don`t work. psp and nokia phones work with wlan after 1 min setup. this crap don`t work at all... it conects but fall out when you start explorer. and window mobile suck like samsung suport and manual... my last samsung did not last 6month.

windows mobile=very capable of being annoying.. my girlfinds phone not mine.. she didnt use it.. and I did not want it even for free.. she bought a new nokia n86 and my sister got I780 for free.. samsung have good phones, but any phones with windows mobile I will not buy..

The thing with WM is that you gotta expand with 3rd party applications to get the most out of it. I have a BB Bold (useless rip off) too and my bro has a N97 and a E71 (broken) and to be honest, nothing comes close to customization and application of the i780. Should have given it a chance. For a week at least. Its awesome.

I used it more than a week and I didnt like it.. bought me a nokia 6303 and gave i780to my sister.. my girlfriend used it almost a year and she didnt like the software.. she love n86.. she say even the web browser on n86 is better.. I take any new symbian nokia phone before WM phones.. I don`t like them at all.. I had a motorola with WM.. pice of shit phone.. gave it to my dad after 30days.. most annoying software ever made on phones..

Youre girlfriend clearly didnt use Opera 9.5. Its amazing. Also the thing with WM is that if you dont like the software, you change it with something like SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 which looks great and is also finger friendly. I personally hate Motorolas too. But yeah, I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. Hopefully you'll come across a "fully loaded" WM phone sometime and see just how cool it is. I think you may be surprised. ;-)

she only used opera.. n87 also have opera.. even my 6303 got opera.. I would not even look at a WM phone agian in some years.. if I want a phone with that size I buy a better phone. like nokia e72.. camera on i780 is a joke..

Thinking about getting this one. Never used Win Mobile before.

Do I have to update Win Mobile a lot, like with Vista on a laptop? If so, can I download via broadband if I have the phone connected to the computer?

How is call quality and sound in speaker? Need ringtones that are loud.

And is this a phone to have for 24 months?

Mike, the best thing I can tell you is to maybe get one, and use your carrier's 30 day trial period to find out. Windows Mobile has some pluses as a phone OS, but it has some big minuses as well; right now, I'd almost say the perfect smartphone OS is OSX on the iPhone.

thanks! blue's the default one, but if u search the download page, there's another option for black (which you have to install manually though). Installation's easy ...just connect your phone via activesync, and copy the .cab file over. Then run the .cab file on ur i780 :)

Im not sure really....because all I did was to drag in the cab into my phone, run it, and viola..PoinUI installed. I'm not sure why you're facing those problems - could it be other software that u've installed?

I installed the pointui 1.51a version and run it from the phone. I still have the same problem even after a hard reset format my device. The screen still switches to the a 90 degree angle and scrolling right to left is up and down and up and down and right to left..Arrgh!! which pda version are you using? it could be that when I switch my rom to a different pda version that affect this...now I have no idea how to revert back to the old pda rom version. new version is i780MSHC3 old: i780DXHA1

how did you get the point ui to function properly? I installed it into my i780 yesterday and the controls to scroll right and left are up and down..confusing..can you tell me how did you install yours or did you tweak it in any way to make it work like that? much appreciated.

Ok, thanks, i did that. But now pointui freezes my i780 everytime and it flips the screen a 1/4 turn, so I have to reset the phone everytime. Any idea what i could do?

drag the .cab to your phone using activesync. then use the file manager in your phone to run that .cab file :)

How do you get this interface to install? I can't find the install file on the website or is the setup.xml the install file?
