I was there. The guy was a real idiot. Ice was all broken up and people were waving to him not to drive into the hole. There were perfectly fine places to get off just a short distance away. So he ignored everyone and just drove straight into the worst place without even stopping to look. Then when people offered constructive suggestions he just kept burning his tires. Never even got out to take a look. Female passenger was all dressed up, had a little dog on her lap and looked bored and annoyed

I have a truck, I don't usually take it off road, but just in case I have an 18,000lb tow strap in my tool box in the back(used it more to help others to be honest!), with a bunch of other tools. there could have been two feet of ice on the lake but those ramps get so sloppy from being driven on and the sun warming the concrete under the ice. its taken me a few tries with my 4x4 blazer to get off the ice as well sometimes. just invest in the front and rear auto locking diff and GIVER ER' and you'll make it through anything.

Why risk it, insurance will not cover, to recover the vehicle is in the thousands, there is also an environmental fine if the ministry finds out and the good one, if you go through the ice out in the middle of the lake you could drown or get hypothermia.
