I am currently writing a critical essay on this film for university, and how time dominates the characters and their journey. The more i watch it, the more encapsulated i become by it - its such an amazing and beautiful film. Really (excuse the pun) timeless.
First part of the movie: they sedate him (as seen), they count, they wait, they are unsure as of whether its a success or not; then they hardly can believe it.
Finally they say that "one half is in the past, the other in the present".
for me as a native german speaker their talk adds to me understanding the movie.
@JohnRobertPosey Yes it is possible to think in a different time; I trained under ex-CIA, David Morehouse. Google: "Remote Viewing"; "Psychic Warrior" by David Morehouse; "Mind Trek" by Joe McMoneagle. David Morehouse mentioned that Psychic Warrior was originally biblical in length and it had to be cut down, at the request of publishers, so the book is a superficial, imperfect reflection of the author. I originally found out about Remote Viewing by watching a documentary on The Discovery Channel
I just watched this for the first time. Thank you so much for posting it. I can't speak french, but your translation was very poetic. Also, is there a reason why you didn't translate those echoy moments. I don't know whether the problem is that they're incomprehensible or whether they're in another language. I guess it doesn't really matter though, this movie's allure is kind of in how little the viewer knows. But again, absolutely amazing, THANK YOU.
@ItsAwfulbutitWorks I was wondering that too, but I'm pretty sure they're speaking German in those parts (I recognized someone counting in German in the first part, and saying the alphabet...maybe they were trying to hypnotize him?) So I would imagine that's why the uploader did not translate them.
@Ainznando That's right. They are not translated in the original French, so the most faithful thing is not to translate them in English either. They are just "speaking German", a foreign tongue, the character himself at one point "makes out" some of what they are saying. The mystery is his mystery too.
Masterful. That just gave us a glimpse of something incredible and hugely insightful about relationships. As much as I hate to say it, that shit is timeless. A psychoanalyst would have a field day.
I swear to god the scientist are so fucking annoying

I'm not the only one who thinks that the woman looks similar to Kirsten Dunst, am I?

Scientists (German language)
second part of the movie: they talk about switching off voltage, count a count down and adress one of them as "professor".

This video raises a philosophical question::
Is it possible to think in a different time? Has anyone thought in the future, or in the past? Or are thoughts themselves another form of time?

@sabresister Indeed... I don't know German, but I always thought the 'mumblings' weren't intended to be understood anyway
