This bump was the result of an access road anyway, it wasn't literally a ramp but at 150MPH it turned into a ramp. It was in an area where there is almost never a crash and obviously since been fixed.

I'm really not quite sure what Edwards was doing. He has to get the inside line for the esses at the end of the straight, but at the same time he is dodging back and forth like he is in brain overload and just can't make up his mind. Hand did definitely move over and try to block, but then Edwards looked like he had second thoughts and decided to try the inside again even though it wasn't there. Racing incident I suppose.

People who think Edwards was in the wrong don't know how racing works. When you're under someone, meaning you have your foot in the door, and they're pressing you. You are NOT obligated to get over when "over" means driving off the racing surface.

All of the time people comment on videos like these that the guy that "clipped" (more like nearly got pushed off) the other driver was in the wrong. They aren't. They HELD THEIR LINE and refused to move when they were driving within the rules.

The Truman family runs a very safe operation for both the fans and the participants, and it was certainly not intentional.You cannot possibly anticipate every crash and for that reason the cars are very overbuilt.

@Foleygac, Anyone who races w/o a HANS deserves what happens to them, especially when you can buy a HANS for under $1000. If you have a $10 head then buy a $10 helmet.

@wyskasses I don't think HANS is mandated in the SCCA either but it definitely is in most professional racing. If I did any kind of racing on the track I would probably invest in one. Look at what happened to Earnhardt Sr. at Daytona in 2001. Although there were other issues regarding his death, the primary cause of death was a basilar skull fracture which the HANS device is designed to prevent.
