he films with a vx2000 they use miniDV tapes not 8mm but you simply capture it to get it on the computer. im not to sure if you need to buy a third party capture device for the vx2000s but i know you do for the vx1000's. most cameras come with the ability to capture to computer through a cable these days tho so 3rd party capture devices are not that necessary

its not an effect its actual super8. you need to shoot 8mm film with a super 8 camera then send the film away to a lab and have the film devoloped and processed onto a mini dv tape.

super 8 has to be processed, or tele-cined i think...

you can get it put on to a disc where you then put the files into final cut or whatever you use.

VX1000's dont NEED a capture cam, it's just recomended so that you dont glitch the footage and because the unit it self is old and its better to not put that extra wear on the camera.
