Some of the new bands that are on 4AD are really good. But, I think the best era was the mid-late 80s to early-late 90s. When Ivo left I think they lost their direction for a while, but that happened to music in general. I'm impressed with some of the newer music coming out from 4AD as well as some stuff coming out in general.
You are so right.....There are some bands that are quite amazing on the label right now, but the best period was 80's/90's!! The time where DCD, The Wolfgang Press, Aztec Camera, Clan of Xymox, The Cocteau Twins, Modern English, The Birthday Party and even Bauhaus were attracted and contracted....4AD even became my #1 spot to check out new and exciting bands. Lately I came across just one real exciting band on the label....The Big Pink!!! Maybe I'm just getting old...;-)
Yeah, those are some of my favorite bands. I really liked some of the bands from the 90s like Belly, The Breeders, Throwing Muses, Lush, and HNIS. It kind of seemed like they signed half American/ half UK bands around the early 90s. Also, the compilations of bands in the 90s were great. I just remember that logo. I really did Blonde Redhead's stuff. Anyways, HNIS new stuff is really good with Andy FM, but it's not on 4AD.
Where can I get this video?

Warn seems like such an inspired enthusiastic guy. And the pizza donuts were really cute.

There used to be a time that 4AD record only had real quality music within their reign.....An era skipped by I guess...
