Please tell us the gesso recepie. Save us the work of spending lots of money and time experimenting. I tried making gesso with rabit skin glue but it did not take the gold.
This great! I've seen some amazing illuminated manuscripts at an exhibition at the New York Public Library a couple of years ago and I was amazed by the beauty of these books. Some books were iridescent and had a glowing quality. I hope see more in the near future, perhaps even attempt at making one. Thanks!

Have you had a look at the Gottingen model book, a great late medieval primer on figuring, esp, acanthus leaves and diapering.

BygoneArts,
Are you using water based gouache paints? Or do you mix your own pigments/binders from scratch? I'm currently using gouache.
