People talking about traveling have evidently never watched the NBA, or basketball of any kind. The actual rule says the ball has to be out of your hand by the time you lift the pivot foot. It doesn't say anything about the ball hitting the ground. That said, in the NBA, traveling is not called for a play like that. Guys step back with both feet without taking a dribble to get behind the bumper and it's never called.

actually he did travel..check outwhen he catches the ball he jumps into catching it, uses his left as his pivot right after and before he takes a dribble to the right, he steps before the ball hits the ground....thats a travel

2008 was the last year the Spurs were a serious contender. If the Lakers had blown that Game 4 and it became 2-2, they would have likely choked away the series the same way the Spurs choked away Game 1. Then the Spurs beat the Celtics in June to repeat, and nobody wants to watch the NBA anymore!! But Joey Crawford put the Spurs in their graves with that non-call. Don't you get it? When it wasn't called, and the NBA admitted the refs blew it, all the analysts could say was that Wright should have wrapped him up with two arms and he didn't "sell" the intentional foul well enough.

People talking about traveling have evidently never watched the NBA, or basketball of any kind. The actual rule says the ball has to be out of your hand by the time you lift the pivot foot. It doesn't say anything about the ball hitting the ground. That said, in the NBA, traveling is not called for a play like that. Guys step back with both feet without taking a dribble to get behind the bumper and it's never called.
