I love this song. You should hear the bass in my beautiful 1500 ram truck!I can vibrate the whole street! I love how he says James Dean. It was recently his death anniversary on Sept 30th.
To those of you that are asking where David Essex has been since this song? Where have you been? David has a new album and has had rock tours every year since Rock on, he has also stared in numroius muscials and is still writing and acting TODAY! and is due to appear in Eastenders To find out more join David Essex No 1 club forever group on face book!
i believe this was the first song i ever liked...i was a young pup back in '73 though. This song is still cool even now. whatever happened to David Essex? it's like he disappeared off the globe...guess i'm off to wiki to find out...peace
@jimmypage444 Isn't that true? He made this fantastic album and you never heard much of anything about him. Maybe you can find something on Wikopedia, I'm going to look.
@jimmypage444 This was the first song I ever liked, too. It was also the first album I ever got my parents to buy for me. I liked it so much. When he came to the U.S. to go on tour, I was too young to go but I caught him on every TV show he was on (things like Supersonic, Wonderama, Sonny and Cher). He was doing a musical some years back in London so I think he's still around.
@Brettgod1355: Uh, how do you figure? He's English. Maybe the thumbs-ups are from our British friends, and the thumbs-down are from our less-than-genius countrymen, like, for example, people who don't know who David Essex is.
Considering it was recorded in 1973. It was IMHO the best produced single up to that time. The production and engineering values of the studio version were way ahead of their time.
70's music....the best decade.....hard and soft rock, pop, soul, rhythm and blues...heck, even some disco tunes are much much better than the caca of Lady Gaca and alike.....disposable idols the kids are poisoned with. Very very few real artists out there.
@MeanrBeanr i think its the music industry's obsession with re creating the success they had with such great artists. so hey just fling anyone out there with vocal chords,
@aleAlEsSaNdRol I don't think so. Too many people out there that are alot better than him. I am not putting him down. This song has been around along time and is used in movies alot. But, I think this song rocks and will be still be around for a long time.
Love this song. Thanks for posting it. Also, in my opinion, from the side view, David Essex kinda looks like Sylvester Stylone (Rambo) lol which isnt a bad thing.
i always think of hash and a doobie and a bottle of wine and the spring of 1974 and my damn gym teacher Mr. krunky getting me suspended that BASTARD!!!!!
been a fan of david's since i first heard this record, first saw him live in 74/75..recently saw him in leeds at the Grand where of course he sang Rock On.....still sounds as good today as it did nearly 40 years ago...........and David still puts on a terrific live show.............hard to believe he is now 62!!!! hope he tours for many more years....
