First off, this video is an extra scene from the Jason Polokow "About Time" video which came out in 2001/2002.

Second, it is fake. It is a shop mannequin wearing a Neil Pryde Wetsuit, they bolted the feet of the mannequin through the board, and somehow fixed the hands permanently to the boom.

How do I know this? Because I watched them build the set up. I lived across the street from the guys that did it, when they did it. The complete rig was left in their drive for about a week afterwards.

i am a windsurfer this is not fake. he did not succesfully land his board- but SO WHAT? FOR THOSE who say it is a puppet. that is bull, a puppet would not be able to guide the windsurfing rig successfully. and yes a windsurfer on a board can turn perfect spirals. we do it all the time. forwards and backwards off of waves. he lands pretty gently in the water and is not injured. check out some windsurfing videos of pros at hookipa. you will see the skills this guy has.
