To people who say not to spay/neuter Norwegian Forest Cats, that's ridiculous. I adopted a Norwegian Forest kitten from our local kill shelter for $20, & that included spay & all shots. It's more expensive to have an "unexpected" litter of kittens and get them shots, etc & adopted out. There are so many homeless animals out there; our local shelter kills 20+ cats/kittens a day (many of them healthy & adoptable) because they don't have enough room. Spay/neuter your cats.

@Ahuntsicspotter - Unless you are a breeder or plan on having litters on the cat, there's no reason for spaying/neutering them. For female cats, it greatly reduces the chance for ovary/uterus cancer and for males it prevents them from being aggressive, restless and prevents them from marking (which can cause neighbourly argues if you live in a city and your cat pisses around their house as it smells). That the cat is "expensive" has nothing to do with the decision to neuther/sterilise pets.

@arore Me I would like to have a Norwegian forest cat female wich one I don't want to sterilise because one off my neighbours have male cat who is not sterilised and it will be good for him because on the street on wich one I live all female cats are sterilised but there is a male unsterilised cat wich one my mom and me calling this orange cat Couscous.

@Ahuntsicspotter So you don't want to sterilise your female cat becausen you want mixed-kittens? That's just aweful, sorry to say it... and the worst reason I've ever heard. There's nothing to feel sorry for about that male cat besides the fact he isn't neutered. Cats who aren't sterilised/neutered are more prone to get diseases (like cat-hiv/aids) due to constantly fighting and mating. Though arguing on youtube comments is rather pointless, so I'm going to leave now before my head explodes.

This video is when this cat was about only 3month.

Maybe almost of kitten do playing fetch own accord.

So I didn't need to teach.

But when the kitten grew up to adult cat,maybe don't play fetch any more.

This cat is 3years old now.

So she does'nt play this thing any more・・・｡･ﾟ･(*ﾉД`*)･ﾟ･｡

haha! my norwegian forest cat plays fetch, too! he prefers balled up paper. he also likes to play with our chihuahua. the two of them are like puppies together (although, the cat is at least twice the size of the dog!)

They sing (meow), play fetch, enjoy water, are very intelligent and are in general great companions. The norwegian forest cat and the maine coon are very much alike in looks and behaviour. Best cats there is ;)

My Maine Coon/Tabby mix does the same thing. Of course, he was a shelter rescue and probably suffers from separation anxiety! He meows for me when I go out, just like a puppy yelping. Generally, he is mildly vocal and has a mellow meow, not raspy like a Siamese.

Funnest Cat Ever. Our NFC likes to get into the shower with us. A lot of cats will fetch for awhile. We've never had a cat, NFC or otherwise that didnt' fetch, at least for a little while.

They all get bored with it though. No training necessary. They just seem to do it on their own.

I have a Norwegian Forest Cat as well, and she does the same thing! She brings her toys back to me, follows me around like a dog, always come to me when I call her name (Sushi) and she drinks from the sink as well :) But NFC are known to be "obedient" and to bond very with her "humans" =D

my norwegian forestcat i currently 17 years old and still as active and playful as the day i got him as a 10 week old kitten...

over the years i have thought him to sit on command, only attack toys when i say so, roll over, speak and stay for shorter periods of time (+-10 minutes)...

thats way better than many dogs!

well... think it has something to do that i thought him to be afraid of cars at a young age... so he has never even gone near the road...

also i give him once every 3 month a pill to kill off any decease he might get form eating birds and mice...

he was also castrated

i have done nothing special with his food... he eats what he gets... but don't overfeed...
